T Stands for Tuesday and Watercolors & Monday Morning Views

   Hello everyone,
Can you believe it? We are nearing the end of June 2020 already, and our last T for this month.
You are most welcome to join us at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's for T,   just share a drink related photo in your post.

Most of last week and allot over the weekend, I have been watching watercolor videos and right now found two instructors I really like.
One is mostly flowers and such which would be pretty for card making and journals, and the other one I found is by Alek Krylow I really like him, he has allot of tutorials that I am learning from and he has a book out printed in Danish, but he is also offering an ebook in English which is actually just a pdf but it's over 100 pages which also includes direct links to his videos. He lowered the price to $5.00-and is just full of information. I am learning allot from him. I think I will be able to finally paint a better sky and water after watching him in his videos.

I am still waiting for my paints, I ordered a couple more tubes to have the colors he suggests. He only uses 9 colors and mixes everything from those. I thought those color charts you see weren't all that useful 'til I saw his and how he explained it all. So I will be making one of those.

The Wal mart brushes just will not do well for these watercolors-they really are super cheap. So I spent most of yesterday online looking for the two brushes he suggests. I guess I also went crazy and purchased two books another one on watercolors and one for drawing-searched around allot online and found the lowest prices I wanted to spend.
Do you see a pattern here? I get excited about new things and then get the supplies. My reasoning-excuse is that I am now retired, 70 and just need to go for it haha
I am more excited about playing with watercolor paints than I was with the acrylics. I will still play with them but I just feel more enthused learning watercolor.
I was really anxious to try out some flowers so I used a little water to soak the pigments out of the watercolor pencils-they are pretty pale as I used too much water, the darker ones was wet paper and drawing with the pencils. I got to try out some brush techniques though

I was planning to go the woods house to work outdoors (Monday morning) but it is so hot and humid here already not a good idea for me. Needed to be out the door by 6 am at the latest.

While watering some plants I noticed several families (waterfowl)  together on the lake

  So I grabbed my camera

As you can see bright sun, a couple fisherman on the lake, birds singing in the background-this is how peaceful it is everyday except for Friday through Sunday during the summer months.

For my beverage share-I have my decaf coffee with a little cream and a handful of ice cubes.

and Wow-we just don't understand why these huge ocean boats want to be on this lake

Those of you in the USA are you ready for the 4th of July? any plans? We will have a couple friends over Planning on barbecuing  baby back ribs, make more ice cream and maybe another cheesecake. also want to pick up some shrimp

Happy T everyone

I tried to find some blender solution yesterday and couldn't find any... uughh.. i don't even see it online.. that may become a problem.. Hugs! deb

    1. Hi Deb, I painted a small acrylic painting for my art journal-was trying out some new things. my acrylics always seem to come out too dark or too bold-I think that is the way with acrylics. I will still paint with them til I use up the paints I bought--we were really hazy from the sand over the weekend but we didn't cool down much-it's been really hot and humid here. they shoot them out over the lake here-so safer and fun for us to watch. Happy T and thanks for visiting hugs

  3. What a great mug! We'll have BBQ for the 4th. I'll go pick up a 6-pack and bring it home for lunch. Your lake will be the perfect setting for the 4th. Happy T Day!

  4. Your watercolor paintings are incredible. I love the irises. You have truly taken to these. I absolutely LOVE them. So happy you have found your calling.

What amazing lake photos and videos, but those boats on the lake DO seem out of place. However, your deck will be a great place to see the fireworks this weekend.

That's a beautiful mug. I love iced coffee, too. Had to laugh, though, since I can barely see any cream, unlike mine which would be white (grin). Thanks for sharing your watercolor paintings, your lessons, your videos, and your iced coffee for T this nearly Tuesday.

To answer your question, it's going to be too hot to do much on the 4th, so I'll be soaking up the AC and snuggling with the boys, while I'm waiting for handmade paper to dry. My neighbors will supply all the fireworks I need while Bleubeard hides and Squiggles snuggles next to me until I go outside to watch the night fireworks.

  5. Flowers are incredible! You are a natural with watercolor. You took to it very quickly! With COVID in the air, it will be just us celebrating the 4th at our house. Fireworks have been cancelled in a lot of places. I’m sure we will hear a few from our neighbors though.

  6. I think I prefer to use watercolours too, but it might be because they are easier to get out!

  8. I feel just like you, Kathy! Now that I'm semi-retired, I want to try it all! Because of lock down, I'm actually trying a lot of the supplies that have been sitting on shelves and tucked away in drawers. I also just bought some quality art brushes. I was shocked at the prices! Little by little, I'm tossing the really ruined brushes I've been hanging on to.

Your flowers are wonderful, especially the iris and lilacs, which are closer to being finished. Good for you! I'm cheering you on from South of the Border.

Because of where we live, we don't do picnics and fireworks on the 4th. I've hung my little paper star Independence day wreath on the inside of our front door. We always try to catch the Capitol 4th Concert on TV.

Happy 4th and Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

Amazing to see all those birds and water fowl on the lake. I watched the videos. Your certainly live in a beautiful spot.
Ice coffee. Sounds like a good idea. I must keep some coffee and let it cool down. Hubby doesn't like cold coffee, but I have had iced coffee before and I find it very refreshing.
Wishing you a very happy T-Day,
Hugs (These ones are allowed, but oh I so crave real hugs),

    1. We are really enjoying all the wildlife and the views here at the lake-this was Larry's idea to move to smaller place and so far loving it.
My Mom would always make iced coffee in the summer. I just add a little cream and ice creams and sometimes a splash of kahula (coffee liqueor) Happy T

  13. Your painting efforts look very good Kathy. It's important to have hobbies and spend some money on supplies for them, because you enjoy doing it, and we all need little pleasures in life. The lake looks nice, but I agree with you about those large boats seeming out of place. It has been very hot and dry here in Connecticut, unseasonably so for June. Happy T-Day!

this large boat to me looks totally out of place we are starting to get dry here too

  17. I enjoy painting with watercolors but haven't had much luck with watercolor pencils. You are right to buy the best supplies you can. The paints are what we usually think of first but brushes are important and so is the paper. I hope you enjoy the process

Did you know you can take your acrylic paints and water them down to get a watercolor effect? Just fyi. I can't wait to see your watercolor art once they arrive. And I hope it was a super T day. The lake certainly is a lovely quiet spot during the week! I love iced coffee and as it's been humid here(although since the weekend much better)it's a perfect drink - can't do without my coffee as I don't drink tea, which hubby tells me is cooling!!!!
