Pelicans & Geese

Yesterday we were watching the pelicans and the Canada geese out our windows. This is the closest we have seen the pelicans. They swam up to visit the geese-that was interesting to watch.

Still frigid cold here. Our temporary fix lasted til early this morning. The furnace has come back on once in awhile this morning-after I pray super diligently (smiles)  I called and they moved us up to this morning early to install the new unit instead of tomorrow. This has been such a good company to work with. She even said they could run out large heaters for us that would heat a room. I said we have a small heater that I have Larry using near his computer.  This company is about 45 minutes to an hour drive way from us.  I will be giving them a good review for sure.

Our road here has still not been plowed, and we are still in the single digits so too cold for me to be shoveling a path still. hoping tomorrow I can do that.

Stay safe if you are effected by this winter blast.  Another one coming in a few days but I think that one will be south of us.

Good Morning Monday-This & That

   Happy Monday and New Week.

Do you shop online?  We live rural so I find it easier and less expensive to shop online for many household goods especially. and Today is Cyber Monday.  I don't have Amazon Prime but if you do they have loads of specials going on.

We are still very cold here-in the 20's F  Some days with wind

The second camera has broke and doesn't work-sigh  I liked this one,  but didn't like that it used AA batteries instead of those flat lithium batteries. I could only take about 8 photos before I needed to change batteries-didn't think that made sense. The third time I took photos the camera stopped working. We tried different batteries to be sure. I bought this one on Walmart.com as they had the best online price I could find. Nice that I can take it into the store to get my money back right away. It needs to warm up a bit more though for me to get on the roads. We have had a thin glazing of ice here for a few days. Looks like mid week we will get out of the 20's F for a day or two.

Soooo bummer I have spent lots of time looking at cameras-again over the weekend. I chose one that Larry thought looked good but it has no reviews-I always read reviews to help me choose a product, since I can send it back from Amazon I just ordered it.  Never have had so much difficulty with cameras before.

We are still enjoying watching pelicans and seagulls on the lake. and I am back to being aggravated by the squirrels eating all the bird food-sigh. They are funny to watch but if they would share I wouldn't mind so much-but No they stay and eat til  all the seeds are gone. Oh well that's squirrels haha  I did set up a suet feeder that they haven't bothered as of yet. That has been bringing in the woodpeckers.

Do you watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Christmas parade?  I didn't enjoy that at all this year, perhaps do to  my age now. I recorded it so I could buzz through the too many commercials. I didn't know any of the singers except for a couple. When Santa arrived on his too cool float which I thought was the highlight of the parade-they only showed about a minute of it before they ended the show. I won't watch that again

I did enjoy watching good football games including an exciting college Notre Dame game-they should end up in the top 10 with an at home playoff game. I recorded some of the new Hallmark Christmas movies-again to buzz off the too many commercials and was super disappointed with the film that was based on the KC Chiefs football game. It featured Kelce's Mom-who is always at the games but Wow this was major dork haha. It was really bad.   I find myself watching more Christmas movies on the Great American Family network now instead. The plots have more substance.

On a happier note-I did finish most of the deep cleaning in our main living areas. I do still need to tackle my craft room with a good vacuum and dusting-and perhaps a bit of organizing. Soon I will need to downsize but am not ready for that yet., as I never know what craft I want to "play" with.  Now the house is in order, hoping to get back to my slow stitch bags.

Happy December Everyone

Browsing online for pelicans in Missouri-I found this one at Truman Lake

and this one taken in Sedalia Mo

Watching Pelicans over the Weekend

We got a real treat over the weekend-watching the large white pelicans on the Lake in the Ozarks.

Saw singles fly by and then pairs over the weekend. Then late yesterday two large flocks of them. We watch them catch fish, one even went after a seagull

I found this video on Facebook from our conservation dept.

Also found this photos online of the pelicans on Lake in the Ozarks

Wen they fly you can see the black under their wings.

Today was rainy in the morning but rest of our day has been cool, dreary and windy.

It has been a year since I have spent any time in my craft room. I have done a few things on the couch but not in my room. Needs a super good clean for sure.to rid the dust in there, but it felt good. I am setting myself up to make Thanksgiving cards to mail out to friends.  Will be something fun for me.

Off to get up the steps and hill to check the  mail-it has gotten windy and quite cold out there now-feels like a cold fall day. we have been spoiled for sure.

  Happy Monday

T Stands for Tooo Cold and Pelicans

Am posting again on Sunday, which is actually Monday for our overseas friends.  It continues to be very very cold here-in the low 20's for highs both evenings and during the day. brrrr Needless to say I haven't gone any where food shopping except online-smiles. We will begin a bit of a warm up on Monday.

This post is for T Stands for Tuesday hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth-please find link in my sidebar, you are most welcome to join in just share a drink related photo.

We are early risers, always have been, so just as it gets light we throw out a mixed song bird seed mix on to the deck railing and a bit on the floor. Throwing it out early gives the birds a chance before the squirrels decide to come in and eat it all-sigh. We  are enjoying watching the birds drop in and also we can view the sun as it rises for the day.

A few days last week we have seen pelicans flying about, one day they stuck around to fish for food. We see flocks of them in the early spring, some will winter over here and then they all move on in the spring.   I needed to really zoom in to capture a photo as they were on the other side of the lake or in the middle.  I wasn't able to capture a photo of them flying-hunting for fish. I found this very interesting article about the pelicans here at the lake in the ozarks,  and how they fish as a group.  The way the group hunts for the fish was interesting to me.

Those of you that visited last week read about good food and wine with our friends from Wisconsin. I made a journal page for Art Journal Journey and shared it here

My husband has had a favorite  coffee travel mug for years now-really a long time now- a couple weeks ago when he was on his skid steer he dropped it and it got crushed.  sigh. So I searched online, and I usually end up on amazon just because they have more to choose from and better prices most of the time. Wow these are quite fancy and expensive now. I read reviews to help me decide and most had issues with bad lids. I found one by thermos-excellent reviews, so I bought that one. This one is soooo good that it stays hot for 8 hours or more-hot like right out of the coffee pot. Too hot for Larry as he drinks down allot of coffee in the mornings. Soooo since I am a very slow coffee drinker and my coffee is always cold too fast- this is now mostly my new coffee mug haha. Back to searching for Larry. I do have one that I got for a gift when I met one of my favorite authors in Yellowstone Park back in 2017-so at least he has that one to use for now. I highly recommend this Thermos travel mug.

and here is another photo with my gluten free oatmeal-dried rainier cherries, and almond milk from this morning

This past week I have been drinking cups of teas and one evening made hot cocoa from my mix from last year

That's it for me this week. I have started working on my handmade Christmas cards over the weekend, always fun for me to do, and I finally have it designed out for this year's cards. If any of you would enjoy swapping Christmas cards send me a message on the contact form (side bar) with your address.

Happy T and have an awesome new week and those that celebrate: Thanksgiving Blessings
