Off To the Amish Greenhouse Today

It's Good Afternoon already I see.

I got myself going early this morning as we have another very humid and mid 90 degree f day. I needed to empty the back of my suv of 4 large bags of garden soil and 2 large bags of black mulch-so I could get more.

We had these large pieces of cardboard so thought perfect to slide these down the hill and up high where my suv is. I actually managed it pretty good, took me a little over an hour with a couple small breaks. I wanted to visit Zimmerman's Amish greenhouse and market for more herbs and flowers. I found this link that will take you to some photos. I had gone there early spring when it was still quite cold and all the plants were very tiny-wow what a change. It was glorious in there. She didn't have too many herbs left but I did pick up a few. I had lost my rosemary over the cold winter and my oregano too. She had a really pretty yellow oregano plant-the Amish young lad said this was their favorite oregano now.

Here is what I brought home

These petunias were so lovely I bought them even though they were more pricey-larger blooms and prettier colors

Impatients

This flat is full of herbs, snapdragons, a few perennials, lemongrass. I have never grown lemongrass before and in the back the light yellow is the oregano

I also stopped in her new store which now is next to the greenhouse. She had fresh garden rhubarb and they always have their greenhouse tomatoes too-I picked up two large yellow tomatoes-love those. She also still had some of her garden sweet potatoes so grabbed some of those too.  I forgot my drink when I left home so was glad to see that she had a sugar free bottle of iced tea

On the way home I stopped at the Wal mart garden center and bought 6 more large bags of garden soil. I did forget to pick up a large bag of soil for pots though.

I dug out the large copper pot that Larry has had for over 50 years for sure. One of his family members had drilled holes in the bottom and around the sides-what a way to destroy a copper pot like this. It has a permanent spot now-I just filled it up with small rocks on the bottom. Allot of the petunias will go in here hmmm I can see now that this pot is tilting more than I thought it was-will see if I can fix that. This is sitting in front of one of the rock hills which is to the left of this area and the copper pot itself is sitting on a large slab of slate rock-which this house is also built on.

These are the flowers I bought over a month ago when it was still chilly, looking really nice.

These geraniums were blooming til some critter came by and ate them, lol I have another bloom sprouting though

I have been really dragging the last few days as Monday I overdid working in the heat. Today I was determined to get something accomplished.  In the small town nearest us someone new bought the family grocery store which also has a greenhouse attached. I will go there tomorrow to see if they also sell soil, and pick up a few things.

I put a small pork roast in the crock pot before I left, so need to figure out what else to serve with it.

Tomorrow we are to get some violent storms here but that will also cool us down hopefully.

  Happy Thursday Friends
