T Stands for Tuesday

Good morning everyone, Tuesdays bring us to T where we gather over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's for friendships and a drink related photo in our post. Find link to join in my sidebar.

It's been an up and down week here, lovely weather mostly, but geez the boats were out in force again-huge ocean boats and even speed boats. Larry did get out fishing a couple times early mornings.  We are in stress mode though with major issues happening on the dock redo, and today (Monday) we have much cooler weather and rain. and Larry's sister and family came by over the weekend, and caused my husband major stress-for him trying to be helpful--won't get into it-but sometimes nice to just write it down since we have no nearby friends to discuss things with.

Usually if I am a bit stressed, or down in the dumps I head to my craft room. This morning, I started stamping my Christmas cards for this year. I am using metallic inks and the last time I stamped with this ink it took forever to dry. So I am starting early this year. If you like to exchange cards let me know with your address. I have an email link in my sidebar.

Also have any of you worked with Encore metallic inks? After several hours the ink is still not dry. I looked online and couldn't find much information. One person ironed over her stampings to get it to dry. do you know if a hair dryer will work?? thanks

I have gotten more accomplished in the new area I am working on-large rocks moved up there, and still digging out dirt to use in the flower area. If I get the black soil out-which I can use-it lowers that area so I can get a couple of layers of rocks in.  So far so good with my knees-I wear a leg brace on the worse knee, and only carried one large rock at a time-which is a pain-up the stairs and over.  I got more seeds in last week that I ordered off of Ebay. I am thinking I am going to start most of the seeds in the bottle "greenhouses" early so they will be outdoors in the cold but I can see what is growing that way.

The other day I churned a batch of keto vanilla ice cream, that I then swirled in Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup as I layered it into the container. We really like this sugar free, egg free churned ice cream.

I did a food shopping trip and look what I found?  They are not as good as the Glutino brand of this cookie but had to try them out. The cool crock in the back I have been using for store bought cookies.(since I have a broken oven) I have two of these which had my sourdough starters in. Since I am not baking breads (gluten) anymore I finally got rid of the starters-sad to see them go.

With the cooler weather I have brought out my French Press-I just love the coffee brew much better in these. One of my handwoven towels to keep the coffee warm

If you missed my cast iron recipe post (posted on late Fridays) link here-this week was biscuit recipes baked in cast iron.

The eagles are here most every day now, so nice to see them again. We don't see them after they start nesting in February til now.

Sunrise photos one morning over the weekend

Happy T and new week everyone

  2. Lovely photos of the lake Kathy, pity those big boats disturb you! Sorry you had a stressful week, but you have worked very hard getting your garden done. Love the sound of your ice cream. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

    1. this is not a wide lake so when these huge ocean boats come on the lake many go too fast and make huge huge waves that are not good for the docks or the sea walls either. it's all money in the end while they are allowed on this man made lake. This is a really good recipe I make it about once month

  3. Sorry for the extra stress. Art or any kind of walk in nature or creativity does help. I still have Encore ink pads but hardly use them because as you say- they take FOREVER to dry! Sorry, but I don't have a solution other than letting the stamped things sit in the air for at least a few days.
I'm going to have a look at your recipe link as it's time to use my cast iron skillet again. French press coffee- mmmm...
    happy T day!

    1. Thanks Linda, yes art or nice walk is always helpful. I only stamped 6 cards to see if they would dry. I love the colors but difficult to use, since they just don't dry well. am going to try ironing them to see what happens. Happy T

  4. Gorgeous sunrise!
Your hand woven towels are beautiful.
I have had those GF oreos and yes, they are yummy and almost as good as eating the good thing. When I found out I couldn't have sugar I had to give them up. So sad. But your ice cream looks delicious!
I have some ink that takes ages to dry. I usually use a heat gun and it does the trick.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

    1. If you are not using sugar, the keto sweeteners are pretty good. my husband is diabetic so I rarely use sugar in any baking-except for a little coconut sugar. I don't have a heat gun, but I may try the hair dryer I have or ironing to see what happens

  5. I bet that ink is pigment ink Kathy and dries quickly with a heat gun. I don't know if a hairdryer is hot enough though. But it would probably help at least start drying it. Sorry to hear you were stressed but it is nice to have a release, isn't it? I haven't made ice cream in a long time. Yours looks good. I hope you have a better week this week with less stress, and a happy T day too. Hugs-Erika

  6. Kathy, the pictures are wonderful! Wow. Seriously pretty there. Take care with those rocks!!! Great looking ice cream and coffee (I love coffee in a FP too and like your idea of insulating it). I have never worked with metalic ink, I would try the heat gun.

    Happy T-day!

  7. What a gogeous sunrise! So lovely to see that from your house. Years ago I used Encore metallic inks and I remember that they took forever to dry and were still smudging the next day - that was the reason why I never tried them again. Sorry that I can't give you any tips. - Your coffee mug is lovely, such a pretty blue.

    1. Good morning, so glad you dropped by. I have always been a good baker, loved making all sorts of breads-but I gave up on trying to accomplish an edible gluten free yeast type bread or pie crust-and I make good pie crusts and really good breads. I wasted so much money on books etc. that I decided if I want bread I will buy Udi's or something similiar. we are in our 70's I have the celiac but my husband has allot of health concerns so I have greatly dropped the carbs. If I know there is an interest I will include recipes again for gluten free

    2. We are in the same age group. I also just buy Promise gluten free bread for him.

    3. I had to just give in and buy bread if I wanted it-Bob's Red Mill has really good gluten free bread mixes-the raisin cinnamon bread is really delicious and easy to bake up
being a good baker I just hated to give up though haha

  13. Your ice cream looks delicious, I love vanilla! I made some Xmas cards a couple of years ago using metallic inks and yup they took forever to dry. It wasn't a big deal for most of them as I had left them overnight and didn't notice but then I had to make a couple of extras at the last minute and discovered the problem lol. Happy T Day! 1. I really love the colors I have too of these encore metallic inks but I remember now-that they never dried for me after weeks-the hair dryer on high was not hot enough, I found a thread online about these and the air gun was the only thing that set it-one lady had made some journal pages over a year ago that she had put in plastic sleeves to get back to them-still wet never dried. I am using just a regular non gloss cardstock-I just threw away the 6 I made-sigh. I did use a gold encore metallic on parchment paper for the inside-and those did dry.
lessoned learned I won't use these again.
this is a recipe we really enjoy Happy T

  14. I was just leaving you a comment when I heard a “bang” and then my electricity went out. I stepped outside to see if it was just me, or everyone on the block. My next door neighbor was outside and he told me he had called the electric company and reported the outage. They said they would send someone out to check the problem. My electricity finally came back on at 11:17 this morning. It had been out since shortly before 5:00 p.m. last night, around 19 hours. My apologies if you thought I had forgotten or was ignoring you.

I am sorry to read you are so stressed out. I hope just sharing with us makes you destress a bit, dear. Your ice cream looks wonderful. I hope it tasted as good as it looked.

Love your sunrise shots. To answer your question about the ink, pigment ink won't dry unless you use a heat tool. A hairdryer might help, but it doesn't get hot enough. I have given up on pigment inks. They get sticky when you add them to shaving cream, and you can't use them in most techniques. Dye ink is the way to go.

I was given a French press by my friend Joseph for my birthday one year. I used it twice and gave it to him. I HATE them. They are SO difficult to clean, and you have to clean them well or the coffee tastes terrible the next time you use it. I'm so glad you like yours and it looks great with your handmade towel, too. Thanks for sharing your sunrise shots, your ice cream, and your French press coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

    1. Good morning Elizabeth, I was figuring either your electricity went out or troubles with your computer-no worries at all
This keto ice cream is really delicious and creamy too Larry needs sugar free and store bought tastes terrible. I churn up a batch about once a month to 6 weeks.
The french press is a bit of a pain to clean as the discs and screens have to come off and rinsed out well. It works good for me as I usually just drink 1-2 cups a day (small cups haha) My Larry drinks a whole coffee pot full.
when I had so much trouble with these metalics last time I should have thrown them out. I wish I would have only stamped 1 or 2 instead of wasting 6 cards-oh well. It is in the trash now. although the gold metalic dried well on parchment paper-same brand encore.
Yes sometimes I can relieve the stress by just writing it down here on my blog-hugs

    2. Dig those cards out of the trash/recycle bin and cut the images out of your parchment paper and cover over the never to dry pigment ink. There are always ways to save your cards if you know the little tricks of the trade. I was taught several when a friend took me to her card making sessions one summer.

    3. Hi Elizabeth, I really messed up these cards. I read online about using an acrylic sealant spray-which I had in my stash-but it was so old-it ruined the prints. what I did several years ago when they wouldn't dry was to put something clear over them and sealed that way can't remember what I did now.
but-when all else fails read the instructions haha I read the fine print on the encore metallic inks and said to only use with porous papers for quick drying or like many mentioned use a heat gun. I had the gold which I stamped on parchment paper for the inside of the card-and that dried-so after reading the instructions I did go back into the trash and dig out the rose color and stamped some on the parchment-it works and it dried in a couple hours. even encore's videos didn't say anything about using porous papers-so thats the clue when you don't have a heat gun (smiles)

  19. I'm sorry to hear you got stressed out. But in the end, it's not worth it, so try and put it behind you.
Yes, crafting is a good de-stresser.
I love seeing your hand woven cloth/ tea towel. It is beautiful. And the mug is lovely too. (Yes, I realize you were just showing the coffee, but my eyes went to the towel and the mug)
As for the slow drying ink, yes, try the hair dryer. I read that you don't have a heat gun, so a hair dryer is the next best thing. It doesn't cost to try.
Sorry I'm late but as you regulars know, we are away on Tuesday, and today we had a power cut so I'm even later (It's nine pm)
    A belated happy T-Day,
