T Stands for Tuesday @ the Lake

T Stands for Tuesday-welcome everyone, and also welcome in October.

Find link to our hostess in my right sidebar for T. October is one of my favorite months-it's my husband's and my birthday month and depending upon where you live it can be a gorgeous month. Here in Missouri the leaves slowly change, our average frost is mid month but some years it will hold off til almost the end of October which I am thinking it will this year since we had such a hot and dry summer.

The leaves are just now beginning to turn, the black walnuts and acorns are constantly falling

Here at the lake it's been a gorgeous first weekend. No super large vacation boats and no speed boats, instead  lots of fishing boats and even a sailboat. This was the yearly weekend bass fishing contest where the winner takes home the big prize money of $100,000.00-that's allot of winnings for a fish. Last year two very young men took home the prize.

Monday morning very early-surprise the moon was over the lake

While I was eating my breakfast Monday morning after the sun came up on the deck-visitors swam by

During this past week, much more work on my landscape project was done and I was careful with my knees-sitting down for most of the work We finally got much needed rain Saturday-we have been soooo dry here.

I opened up another red wine-I enjoyed this one much better than the last one.

Now is the time the eagle pair will be visiting much more often. I took this photo after the male flew off.

Happy T everyone, enjoy October

  1. Hi Kathy, love the videos and photos. I would love to see an eagle in my tree. Glad your landscaping is going well, just be careful with your knees! Love all your feathered visitors swimming on the lake. Enjoy your wine! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  2. thank you so much Valerie, yes I have to remind myself to be careful and limit my time to a couple hours too-which I don't like to do-

  3. I was sorry to hear you are having problems with chipmunks. I don't think I've ever seen one in real life, so I feel for you.

I bought some stump remover at the hardware store. You brush the solution on and it is supposed to get rid of it in a few weeks.

Your colors are starting to change nicely, dear. I always love this time of year, but we don't get the beautiful color changes in Wichita that you get in Ark and MO.

I'm delighted you like your latest wine. I love that glass and I also really like the wine chiller/holder. Thank you for sharing your videos, your moon shot, your eagles, and your wine with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear Kathy. Now I must get my OWN T post written up (grin)!

    1. Chipmunks are cute little animals, but these are much larger than we had at the woods house-just an hour south of here, and it doesn't help that the neighbors grandchildren feed them-not good.
we mostly get yellows here, with a few blotches of reds-that red one just came into color and it is in the neighbors yard.
This is handmade pottery chiller and it has a little dish that fits under it too-have had this one for many years. I remembered to get my posted when I saw Valeries Happy T

  5. Oh those chipmonks. Luckily I had a nesting broadwing hawk this summer which did help with the numbers, as well as the local bobcat. They such a pain though. I am sure you can relate to that. That's a huge amount of money for catching a fish. But I bet it is nice to have all the big powerboats gone. That wine looks good, and nice glass too. I hope you have a happy T day, and get to see those eagles some more. Hugs-Erika

    1. yes those chipmunks need a predator to keep them in check for sure. and these here at the lake are really large too.
that is a huge amount of prize money-I have seen yet who won this year. It is soooo much more peaceful now with those speed boats and ocean boats gone-at least last weekend they were gone. Happy T hugs

  6. I'm glad you like our Calirfornia wine! Paso Robles is a great wine region. We don't have chipmunks here and the squirrels kind of behaved this summer, but we have lots of skunk and raccoons and some people have their lawns turn over by them. Maybe that motivates them to finally get rid of their lawns. Like you we desperately need rain, we are in a historically severe drought (exceptional drought, the worst category on the drought monitor). And wildfire season si far from over... That's lovely to see the Canada geese swim by while you're having your breakfast on the deck. I would like that.

    1. Hi this was a really good wine- I really enjoyed it. Squirrels can get into mischief too for sure-here at the lake we have the small grey squirrels-I caught one mid summer running off with one of my green tomatoes lol. sorry for your drought-its' been an extremely dry summer here too-the acorns are falling off with their caps attached.
Yes that was wonderful to see the Canada geese swimming in front of us-Happy T

  7. Gosh, as much as I LOVE summer, and am already missing my hummingbirds there really is so much to enjoy about each season. And where I live we have been so fortunate to have extended summer weather despite the falling leaves, changing colors, and bird migrations.
Great shot of the wafer thin moon!
Of course I'd love to join you with a glass of that cab;) Happy T day!

    1. Hi Linda, surprisenly we still have a few hummingbird visitors here-so I am keeping one feeder up for the migrating hummers. over the weekend we had quite a few of them.
I do love all the autumn leaves and look pretty when they fall. thank you that sliver of a moon was a surprise for sure-in the area when we see the sun rise.
this was a really good wine hugs and Happy T

  8. Hi there,Kathy! I enjoyed your videos so much. You really have some beautiful visitors there on the lake. Your landscaping project is looking so nice. Yes, you must take care of yourself and workin moderation. I have a project going as well. I am redoing the walkways in the Shanty Garden and putting down brick pavers. You do have a wonderful birthday month! I also love October!

    1. Hi Mary, that sounds like a fun project-I enjoy working with bricks and stones. I had thought of perhaps laying out a pathway in bricks in this area. Yes I love having our birthdays in October.

    1. Yes there are quite a few fishing tournaments here on the lake during the year, but I think is this one of the biggest prize money. The weather is still really nice here so I keep working on my project. hugs

  10. Wonderful assortment of photos. I'm glad you were careful about your knees while working on your yard project. October is a great month for Fall foliage. For whatever reason, this year I had a lot of black walnuts fall in my yard. I don't recall noticing them last year. They fell a few weeks ago.

    1. Hello Anne, the black walnuts usually produce every other year. I had dried and collected allot of them last time to make dye or ink with them-have not gotten to that yet. I am surprised more of the walnuts here have not fallen here-still big clusters of them

  11. Happy T-day, Kathy. So much beauty to see where you live and $100,000 prize makes me want to take up bass fishing! My daughter has a friend who actually makes a very good living doing fishing tournaments - I am kind of jealous of him even though I am not much for the outdoors. The eagles are wonderful.

The wine looks good and so glad it was good. I plan to get a few new bottles soon now that the pumpkin beer is gone.

    Happy T-day!

    1. This is one of the tournaments with the largest cash prize for the winner. here in Missouri they have courses in the schools on how to be a professional fisherman-if could one can earn a living doing it or make it a second "job" This is the time of the year when we see this pair of eagles allot-almost every day some weeks. Never tire of their visits. this was a good bottle-one I have had for awhile

  16. That certainly is a lot of money for a fish!
I enjoyed your videos. I too have never seen a chipmunk. Of course I have seen the cartoon variety. Great to see the ducks/geese, and of course the eagle is awesome!
Yes, I bet that was a nice wine! I love Cabernet-Sauvignon and buy it when I can. Here in Spain they sell mainly Spanish wines, so not many Cabernet-Sauvignons.
    Happy T-Day,

  18. Kathy your photos are beautiful. So glad you received rain. It has been rather dry here also. We got an inch Sunday night. That certainly made the grass grow. Hope your landscaping project is working out well for you. Have a super week. Hugs!

  21. Beautiful colours - I'll look forward to seeing more. The birds on the lake video made for excellent slow TV. I shall be playing for calm moments I think. Well done for all of the work you have put in on your plot. I very nearly bought a can of wine yesterday at the supermarket but got distracted and didn't get back to it. Love that we might see more of the eagles. Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
