Happy Weekend and a Little Video

  Good morning friends,
Yesterday (Saturday) we finally got a lovely spring day from Mother Nature. Sunny, warmer, and especially No wind. We are still at the freezing temperature in the early mornings but finally beginning to warm up by noon-thinking just in time for the first day of spring.

I spent most of the morning making a birthday dinner for our friend, and the guys went fishing at Ha Ha Tonka state park-our friend was the only one that caught anything-so perfect for him-he will be 76

Yesterday afternoon, I grabbed the camera to take a video and capture the peepers at the pond. I love listening to them-a sure sign of spring. These are little tree frogs and is their spring mating call-wondering if they will be at the lake or not or if they are just in wooded ponds.

I made loaves of sourdough rye bread to go with our corn beef dinner.

We will be off early Sunday to work at the lake house. We have carpet coming to be laid in the bedroom next week-I will start painting the living room on Sunday.

and one day early this coming week my friend is driving in to pick up the rug loom-so a busy week ahead.

Happy weekend everyone!!

  1. I am so jealous of everyone getting signs of spring. No peepers here yet but I hope in a few weeks, maybe. My husband complains about the night noise but I love it. Your bread looks delicious and I hope the birthday celebration was a good one. Happy St. Patrick's Day. Hugs-Erika

  3. Peepers came through great on your video, Kathy! We have them here as well, and I sent a similar video to my daughter in MA. It made her nostalgic. Enjoy your productive week! Hope Larry is doing better.

  4. A lovely video Kathy, it is a wonderful sound that the frogs make, quite a soft sound, easy to listen to.
Your bread looks delicious and I'm sure the smell of freshly made bread must have been lovely.
It sounds like you are making real good progress to the Lake house, you must be looking forward to when you can move in.

  7. I read your post on your other blog, but didn't see a way to leave a comment. Plus, you said you were going to delete that blog. I would like to ask you to reconsider: don't delete your other blog, because it has your history in it. And so what if some of the links are no longer valid? I don't know if you saw the news article about MySpace "accidentally" loosing everyone's data that was older than 3 years when they did a server migration. All of those people, unless they had their files backed up, lost years of data. I've found blogs where the owner hasn't posted in years, but they left their blog up: they didn't delete it. And as far as your comment about losing friends over the years, due to differences about political opinions: that is unfortunate. I try to refrain from making any political comments, because with America polarized 50 - 50, it's easy to alienate half the population, and no one seems willing to listen to a point of view other than their own. I pretty much stopped watching the national and international news, because it all became too predictable. Anyway, I hope my comments aren't unwelcome. I have both your old blog and your new blog as links in my list of bloggers on my blog, and I look forward to reading your new posts on this blog.

    1. I appreciate your comments-yes I have decided not to delete my old blog-it goes back to 2008 or earlier and many of the photos are still there. I lost allot of them do to changing where the photos were uploaded from. I had posted lots on herbs so I do go back to read those again. and lots of memories there too.
I try to stay away from politics too but I will post a bit on facebook. you are right there is no discussing anything any more its either right or wrong that's it-a sad society we have now. I also don't watch national news-its opinionated and no longer reporting news events.

  8. I was SHOCKED when I read Anne's comment about your old blog. I thought "where did that come from?" What had I slept through? What had I missed? I remember reading about how you dyed silk, and was FASCINATED. I've never seen that technique anywhere else on the internet.

I'm thrilled you are leaving your old blog. I have lots of photos that no longer show from when I had an off site storage that Google/Blogger no longer allows. Luckily, I have MOST everything on my hard drive, but if that goes, I'm in trouble.

Your bread looks wonderful and it sounds like a very traditional Irish meal, too. I'm in awe you are so busy in your life right now. I feel like a slug when I read your blog and how much you accomplish.
