T Stands for Tuesday

Hi everyone, this is where we share a drink related post with friends. Hosted by our Bleubeard and Elizabeth you are most welcome to join us-link in right hand column.

Friday and Saturday I worked outdoors allot, canned pinto beans, and more and was just really tired after all of it. post with lots of photos here if you missed it.
I got myself so overwhelmed for some reason-I think it was the heat and humidity here already that got me and just felt like I was soooo far behind in life things. So, ignore my short post where I said I was taking a break. I love all of you in the T gang too much to miss seeing your art.

I will be stopping the Cast Iron Friday's posts but will continue to share when I bake things in my cast iron especially my dutch ovens outdoors and my first time with my fire pit some time soon. I don't know why; guess cause I am a senior and turn 70 next year (still can not wrap my head around that one) that it was stressing me out-and blogging needs to be fun. Weird I know.

Anyways this morning we drove a couple hours north of us to meet my husband's sister from Chicago area that was in the area for a few hours.  We happened upon a really good place to meet for breakfast. The food was so good-totally forgot to take my camera with me. But before we left his sister grabbed a waitress and asked if she could take a photo of all us. the one with all of us I wasn't ready for the photo ha ha but the other one at least I am smiling. I very very rarely show personal photos but since his sister already shared on facebook I figured I would share this time. I am in the salmon top with long hair, his sister and her daughter beside me and Hubs sitting. There is a 25 year difference in ages between brother and sister.

When we got home, I checked the computer for emails etc and Wow double Wow I found out that I was a winner of a silk eco printed scarf. I have been following this lady the Kitchen Witch from England that amazes me with her eco printing abilities. and she is someone that will answer questions on how to do it-love that and many don't like to share the details. She said she was overwhelmed with the response of her giveaway so she decided to draw a second name for another scarf. I was the second pick-sooo excited with this win. There were 351 entries so I am blessed to have been picked.
My win is the scarf on the right side of the photo. Here are the details  The second scarf was made at the same time as the first and is lightweight silk measuring 114cm by 28cm and printed with sycamore, maple and rose leaves on a logwood background,
The first winner-scarf on the left--details-- made with fresh leaves. It is a lightweight silk scarf measuring 120 x 28cm printed with horse chestnut, sycamore and rose leaves on a background of cochineal.

Our wisteria vines are totally gorgeous now loaded with blooms, these are more mature now (planted in 2003) so are getting fuller and the blooms longer. I will share videos and photos soon
Update: I just posted two videos here

Did you watch the Royal Wedding? I totally loved everything. I recorded it from 3am to 8am on the BBC network so I could catch everything, and then watched it all late Saturday afternoon into the evening. Everything was so special, I loved that they broke traditions in different areas, and I just now read that Markle's bridal bouquet was laid at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior at the British capital's Westminster Abbey.

I have been enjoying my hard root beer a few nights now and sometimes I even add whipped cream on top-divine lol Especially after a hot day outdoors.
This week though I am sharing a new wine from Aldi

I loved the label with the name and the birds, but I really love this wine-very nice red and not a dry one.

Happy T Stands for Tuesdays everyone.

  1. I am simply thrilled to read that you are going to share T day with us. I was afraid you were going to stop blogging for awhile.

Congrats on your scarf win. I am so impressed with that one. I can't seem to get my eco dyed fabric to turn out that beautiful. I WILL be trying again this summer, though. You are one lucky lady to have that scarf. I like yours better than the other one, too. BTW, do you have her blog address? I would LOVE to visit her site and look at some of her eco dyed projects.

You look very happy in that second photo, and I suspect you had a great time. BTW, I see a mug and glasses on the table where your husband is sitting. Of course, the wine label looks adorable, and I might even buy that for the label alone (except my Aldi doesn't sell alcohol).

Thanks for sharing your scarf win, your trip to visit your husband's sister and daughter, and your wine with us for T this week.

BTW, I watched the wedding in real time. I thought they both looked so happy and I think Meghan was less nervous than Harry. Nice to read about the bouquet. Generosity and thoughtfulness to the very end. Diana would have approved.

  3. You asked if I ever eco dyed paper and the answer is "sort of." I used 90 lb watercolor paper and sandwiched plants between the papers. I then wrapped the sandwich between two ceramic tiles and wrapped. It's hard for me to get anything tight, but I was happy with what I got.

I was told I had to soak the paper first in alum, then cook it in the bath. I did NEITHER. I cut the paper, etc, then steamed the paper for about three hours over the water bath. I let the bath cool, then removed the papers from the steam bath. I did NOT submerge my papers in water. Some of the papers came out better than others, but I think that was because of the plant materials I used. I hope that helps, but I'm not sure it's the right way to do it.

  8. Kathy I am so pleased you decided to keep this blog open, I love visiting you here.
The family photos were good to see and you looked so happy together, especially on the second photo.
Congratulations on your win, the scarf looks beautiful.
Yes I also watched the Royal wedding, there were many lovely lovely parts that were special and touching. How they held hands and looked so happy.
The bouquet placed on the War memorial is a tradition that many our Royal brides have kept since the memorial was placed in the Abbey.
After my wedding my bouquet went back to our church to be placed on the War Memorial there.
I loved the fun label on the bottle of wine you showed us.
    Happy T day wishes

  10. I finally got around to reading the dye and vinegar eco-print post you sent me. One thing I must warn you about. She said to use a pot you won't ever use again for food. I agree, BUT, you MUST use a stainless steel pot. You can't use one with teflon coating or an aluminum pot. I'll be cooking mine outside, but was surprised when she said the smell of the plants made her nauseous. Thanks for the link. I know one woman who uses vinegar rather than alum. I have alum for dyeing, but I might use my rusted mordant when I try my next bath. I'm going to get some big rubber bands and see if that helps with my wrap problem. I wish you luck, because now you've given me the fever, too. Have you seen my eco-dyed fabric posts?

  12. wonderful family photos! Glad you're continuing to blog but I get it-especially when other things keep one so busy. It's why I went from blogging several times a week to only once and I am happy with that.
Would love to have some wisteria in my yard...

As for the wine I would have tried it just to get the label:):) Happy T day!

    1. Hi Linda, thank you. I used to blog every day but that is too much right now. You live in the states right? If you have a fence or a trellis for support I will gladly send you a little off shoot-they do multiply and spread very easily
I did buy the wine mostly for the lable-lol it was too sweet.
      Happy T Day

  16. Well, hello there! So nice to see you at last! You look great (especially when smiling) and not at all anywhere near 70! Great to see hubs and his sister & niece too.
Congratulations on winning the scarf. It is very beautiful. Lucky you.
I'm sorry you felt a bit overwhelmed the other day. I think we all feel like that sometimes. So it's good to see you are not giving up blogging.
Perhaps the wine helped. That label certainly made me smile and if it tastes as good as it looks....
    Cheers!
    Happy T-Day,.

  19. thanks for sharing the photo of you and family-it's nice to put a face to the personality (I'm the same, don't like to have my photo taken, and don't post it out there much!) glad you will still be posting because it's so fun to hear what you are up to! I was surprised to hear your age, I don't think you look 70 at all! congrats on winning the scarf...it's beautiful, and I think you got the prettier one! have a great week! ♥

  20. Kathy, yesterday I wrote in my journal about our "hot dry winds that just suck your appetite away." I should add energy. Heat, whether dry or humid is just enervating. I'm glad you're not taking a break from the T-parties. Frequently, I'm in a mad rush to get my T-post ready (more or less) on time. But like you decided, I would really miss all the ladies and their news, art and fascinating information. The T-parties have become a highlight of my week.

I'm smiling back at you in the 2nd photo. Your niece has the sweetest smile. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Congratulations on your beautiful silk scarf!

Flirty Bird - lol - what a fun brand name and darling graphic. I would save that label for mail art or decoupage.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  21. good morning Eileen, I agree with you on the heat-that is the one thing I do not care for this area where we retired too-and lots of humidity along with it most times too-ugh I have learned to get outdoors very early and get my gardening done and back in the house.
Our niece has matured and more grown up since we saw her last year-she is a dear.
I had to have that wine label ha ha
I would miss the T Party too much too and they are my blogging highlight of the week too
Have a great week hugs Kathy
