New Teas in the Mail & Baking Begins & T

I ordered some new teas for the winter-and beyond, some are showing up in my  mail now.

Yesterday I got in some of the new teas I had ordered.

I usually do not drink decaf black teas I prefer mostly herbal and the green and white teas. I found a cinnamon decaf black tea that sounded interesting and  perfect for December. Surprised me how good this tea is. It had a few other spices in it too. I also ordered two different brands of decaf black teas as well. Thought if the cinnamon was really strong I would add a plain black tea bag to it.

After this photo, I did end up using one of the plain decaf black tea bags in my mug-sooo delicious which really surprised me The cinnamon tea bags were the clear triangle type tea bags and it came in a nice tin

I picked up the coffee mug at the animal shelter's thrift store late summer when I was shopping for clothes

The Bromley also has orange pekoe with the decaf black tea Amazon has a huge assortment of teas-I am shopping more online these days-so much easier, usually less expensive, and I don't have to drive anywhere.

Last night while listening to the Voice I mixed up the wheat and gluten free gingerbread cut out cookie doughs. I usually mix with my hand mixer, but since I had my stand mixer where I can get to it easily-just plug it in-I mixed in that instead. Really is nicer to use-now that I don't have to carry it over to use it-way too heavy for me to do that anymore.

Over the weekend Larry asked for my Grandma's Yellow Angle Food Cake. I hadn't made that in awhile. I usually bake up two cakes-one wheat and one gluten free. I just made his cake this time as I will have baked cookies soon to eat.

I had lost 10 pounds the first 6 weeks taking care of Larry from his accident-which was a good thing, but I wasn't eating much or sleeping well either. Now that he is off the every 4 hours of pain medicines I am catching up on sleep and sigh-snacking more-I have a bad habit of snacking in the evenings. I have gained back 3 pounds and want to lost that again so I can eat Christmas cookies and goodies-smiles  I will be making chocolate popcorn, dipped chocolates, chocolate barks, and chex mix.

Speaking of the Voice do any of you watch that show? I have watched every show from when it first started. What has kept this show interesting for me is the judges are always changing and they change the way the show works too with different rules etc. This year the music talent was exceptional but I don't care for the new rules and how they are eliminating people. Last night was the first of this season we could vote favorites to stay in the show. Usually we vote from the whole cast last night we could only vote one person through-not sure I like that set up. Perhaps that eliminates voting more for the judge than the talent-which they say some voters do.

Since it's Tuesday, I think I will check in with the T group this week. Link Up Here  My cup of tea is my "ticket" in Happy Tuesday

  1. Cinnamon tea sounds perfect for winter Kathy. I love the varieties of teas you can get. It's fun to shop for them, isn't it? And congrats on the weight loss. I would say 3 pounds isn't much to lose back but my body is horrible at losing weight, always has been, so I know sometimes 3 pounds is hard to get rid of. And you are right about Christmas yummies. I made some stollen the other day and I'm putting off my cookie baking until at least next week. I'd rather have them around for Christmas than eat them all now. Happy T day. It's good to see you back. hugs-Erika

    1. Yes as we get older it is soooo difficult to lose any weight. I couldn't believe that I had lost 10 pounds but I was eating much at all but I have kept the 7 pounds off for sure-just can't go too crazy over eating-smiles
The cinnamon tea is really a wonderful tea I love it thanks and Happy T

  2. Cinnamon tea sounds like a seasonal win :) My weight must be related to what I eat and yet when I weigh myself there seems no connection. Hmmm... Happy T Tuesday!

Sounds like you have had a lot going on. Glad to hear that Larry is recovering. Caring for a family member can be exhausting for sure.
Enjoy the snacks. The chocolate covered popcorn sounds yummy and a temptation for snacking.

  9. Stocking up on teas for winter!
The Voice, I don't watch anymore. I got tired of the same old comments, and good singers being eliminated. Popularity seems to hinge on who has the saddest boo hoo sob story. True or not, that is a part of such shows that is the least interesting. It sends a message that unless you have misery, you aren't going to make it. It isn't fair to folks who have talent with fairly happy lives.

    1. agree-they have really changed the show quite a bit over the years. Adam Levine was really bad about what you are talking about too-he has not been on the show for many years now
Yes stocking up on new teas-I just got three more new ones in today from the tea company I shared in a previous post

  10. Decaf black tea can be surprisingly delightful, and those clear triangle cinnamon tea bags sound intriguing. And kudos for the thrift store find, shopping in such places often brings about the most unique and unexpected treasures. It is a beautiful mug!
    Happy Tea Tuesday!

No, we don't have The Voice. I assume it's a sort of talent show. I have never seen it.

My weight is in danger of creeping up too, not baked for a little while - looking forward to Christmas treats! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  17. Barb had received a Tea of the Month as a gift a year or two ago. I think she enjoyed it. We have been watching The Voice as well and like several people on there. As of right now, I would say Huntley is our favorite.

  20. As promised, I am back to visit. My plan on Friday was to visit the international T Tuesday participants first, while it was Friday in their world, then those who live in the states where it would still be Friday in THEIR world. That didn't happen, although I was able to visit a few before my young fur baby got sick. As much as Bleubeard tries to stay away from Squiggles, he was (seemed) actually concerned for once. Now Squiggles has been looked at and taken care of, I am back. And even though I am on hiatus until the new year, I will be here every Monday afternoon my time to spend T time. I was thrilled when I saw your name in the links this week. I am SO happy you joined in and hope to see you here more often, dear Kathy.

I love cinnamon in almost everything. I used to add it to my beef stew before I decided to become a vegetarian. It brings out the flavor of the beef and you don't notice the cinnamon, except when it's missing.

I was gifted with a couple of those adorable triangular tea bags and I bought one in a box a few years ago. It's old enough now, I just use it for decoration.

I have never watched the Voice, but I heard some people who didn't win the biggie prize went on to get decent contracts.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful new teas and your adorable new mug with us for T this past week, dear Kathy.

  21. Hoping Squiggles continues to feel better. these triangle tea bags are really cute and I think the tea flows better in these but thinking these could have plastics in them.
Thanks for the tip about cinnamon with beef I did not know that.
Some years the Voice has amazing talent on it so enjoyable to listen to the music.
Glad to read you will take some time away from the computerfor You-hugs

  22. I used to buy cheap beef for making stew. I would rub cinnamon on all sides of the beef chunks. It seems to enhance the flavor of the beef.

Yes. I am tired and just find I have no energy, so I need time away to prepare for Christmas. I haven't even started my Christmas tip-ins or Christmas cards. I cut the cord on my cable, so I don't get HMM, although HMM and lots of other shows like HM, Lifetime, and even Start TV are now showing Christmas stories. I really do not watch Christmas stories very often, so it was a good time to get rid of cable.

    1. we pay too much for cable but with my husband' poor health-I keep it going he only watches movies with no commercials
I will try that out with the cinnamon
