Recap of 2024 with Photos-Long

I usually do a recap of the previous year but wasn't sure I had much to share being Larry's care giver still.  I thought I would take a look at my 2024 posts-and I am soooo glad I did.  I did manage to accomplish some things.

  January

I made soup ( I made a pot of chicken soup today too)

 February

Oh this was fun I bought a huge huge box of  discounted buffalo fiber. This was sold to put into the garden for soil improvements  I like that the Buffalo Wool co works to use all the buffalo fibers they process.  I ended up sorting it and found a lot that could still be spun and some for the garden soil as well

and another Super Bowl win

I won a big box of wonderful goodies including these slippers-It was a huge lift for me at the time thanks again

March

a surprise in the mail from one of my slow mail friends

blooms

I was still working with the buffalo fibers-this is roving that I spun up to yarn I had forgotten about this buffalo project-I really enjoyed that

April

I made dandelion infused oil-so nice on the skin

I was writing many letters for Letters Against Isolation-I have since stopped doing this-it was getting to be too much for me

I was still spinning the buffalo fibers this  month

May

This was a surprise-the second bulb I have bloomed

I got back to blending and grinding some of  my own Gluten free flour

June

This month I bought a few embroidery blocks to stitch up

I have since lost most all of my perennials sigh do to our water issue here  I think this one has survived though, and I saved seeds

July

I baked up a lemon meringue pie-yum

August

cornbread

First wolf block completed- I changed this up a bit-decided to go with the pattern design going forward

September

Laying out the first bag slow stitch project. I am finishing it up now

I liked this version of the block better

October

Progress on slow stitch project

November

Pumpkin bread-gluten free

We got the smoker out-we did a duck and this turkey

December

That slow stitch bag almost completed-hand sewing the lining to the front of the bag

We have really enjoyed watching the sea gulls and pelicans in 2024 and this year.as well

Notre Dame was so fun to watch-they only lost one game
They just won their quarter final yesterday, on to next week

I am so happy that I looked through my 2024 blog posts

I totally forgot about some of the projects like the buffalo fibers. I feel better looking back that I accomplished some creative things. I do enjoy playing with fibers.

It's been a long year still being my husband's care giver. (since October 2023) Larry will not get better sadly but I am thankful we are still together.

I have been in the "dumps" lately-my car breaking down did me in mentally.. I checked today and they have not gotten to it yet. sigh  I have myself stressed out for sure. I have never driven Larry's suburban, I may need to get brave and try it.  It is too large for me and I am used to driving old simple cars. My Mountainer is 1998 with low mileage-the perfect size for me.

Our nearby friends that help us out called to see if I needed to go food shopping (with this huge winter arctic blast coming in). So thankful we met these caring friends.  She will pick me up very early tomorrow morning-.Her and her husband are getting ready to stay in Florida for several weeks this winter, which will be very soon. I have been depending on them too much for sure-so that has me a bit stressed as well. .

Stay safe any of you in the path of this arctic winter blast

  1. Kathy, looking back on a year just passed often shows that we have accomplished more than we thought, so kudos to you for your creativity, cooking skills 😋and care giving. All of these were things to be proud if having done and sure they were appreciated. I know what you mean about favoring an older and smaller ca, Mine is a 2007 model and basic vs. Patrick’s 2019 model with modern electronics that beep, unlike my own and also larger so I too would be nervous to drive it. Hope yours will be repaired soon and good that your neighbors have been so helpful and know they will be missed.

  2. How nice to look back on all that you were able to accomplish last year. Kudos to you. Bob has a cargo van and if we want to go anywhere out of our county which requires the van, I drive it now. With his stroke his left eye is still not up to par and I dont trust his driving. I had to get use to it though myself as it is higher up than my Equinox. Hope you have a great weekend. Janice

  3. It's amazing how easy it is to forget about parts of the year, isn't it? I hope your car is fixed soon. When mine is in the shop I need to drive my husband's truck, which is a tank, and I hate how big it is. Happy 2025 to you. I hope you have a nice new year Kathy. hugs-Erika

    1. It is I totally forgot that early months in 2024 I got all that buffalo fiber to work with and spin up. I did a lot of spinning and playing with fiber back then.
we are in this horrible ice storm with frigid temps right now so it won't be getting fixed any time soon Iam thinking with this ice I won't be driving any way. I think how "huge" the suburban is scares me and it is all push buttons-would need to learn how to even start and stop it-smiles

  4. I think you had a very productive year! We are bracing for the arctic blast that's almost here. It's easy to get down in the dumps sometimes, but we just have to do the best we can. This time of year does that to us, I think. We also watch quite a bit of football. Other than that, we have been watching some very old westerns from the 1930s. Wow! What fun most of them are.

    1. Good morning early-I woke up at 5 am hearing the ice coming down. I have been filling up large pots with water. the bad thing is this house is all electric-a bad thing if or when we lose power. this ice is supposed to be an 8 to 10 hour event-ugh we don't have a working woodstove either here so that concerns me on how to stay warm and cook. I will think positive that we don't lose it or for long.
there has been some good football games to watch for sure I am hoping Notre Dame makes it to the championship game.
westerns from the 1930's sounds like a blast of fun for sure stay safe and warm hugs

  5. I hope Larry gets better after all! Ingo was also sick for so long, I am with you...
And your car... I once drove a Nissan Patrol LWB for 7 months and actually I liked it! You sit high up, to me it was even easier than my small Polo. Maybe give it a try, if only for a few yards? Otherwise I hope your care is back soon.
Quite a mixed year you had, That oil sounds interesting! And yippeee for such helpful friends!
I hope 2025 will be easier on you two!

    1. I remain hopeful, but his heart disease is much worse as well-sigh.
Yes I am always afraid of new things, the large suburban is much safer too on the road. I will get brave one day but not in the bad weather. Thank you good friends are so special, happy 2025 for you and Ingo too hugs

  6. I'm so glad you did your look back, Kathy. You accomplished a lot -- and I know how difficult that is when you are in the role of caregiver. Some of those projects are extremely interesting and complex. Good luck with the car!
