Happy weekend,
Friday we were fogged in til noon-that was unusual-usually it will burn off in a few hours. The weekend has been very cloudy and overcast but pretty warm for end of December. There are some wicked storms coming in over the US next month though. The warmer weather has brought in the fisherman this weekend-perfect weather for it.
I am not a movie watcher usually, but the last couple of evenings I found really really good movies on the You Tube app for the tv. One I had not seen before. I am still amazed at the better choices over what Directv streaming offers in movies-so glad I saved money and went with the free apps for movies. Last night Larry and I watched Popeye cartoons-a blast from the past haha.
I am finally feeling a bit more calm and ready to get into crafts again. I had started hand stitching my first little bag together and then had stopped to bake up a few Christmas goodies. I picked it up today to work on. I almost thought I messed up but I didn't. These little bags have a lining so am figuring out how this goes together. I used a heavier quality cotton muslin for the backing of the stitches-will give the bag more body and stabilize the hand stitches I am thinking. I am anxious to get this first one all figured out so I can go on to the next. (Ignore the time stamp as I need to figure out how to get rid of that. It seems to only show up in the photos when I post it-strange)
I decided to stitch a back stitch for a stronger seam
Most instructors do not use knots to end with, but being this will be a bag I thought knots will keep everything more secure and not work their way out. I haven't seen anything yet that looks all that secure to me..
Any plans for New Years Eve? I will be making us a shrimp boil-I will be staying up to watch the celebrations on the tv-I always do-looks like better hosting of shows this time
I gave up watching the shows for New Years years ago... but i will tune in just in time for the ball drop... Hubs and i have a New Year Eve plan of starting to watch the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy again and have some snacks and then end the night playing our Seek and Find game to bring in the New Year.. At midnight i will open the back door to let out the old year and then open the front door to let in the new year... Wishing you the best in a New Year Kathy!! Hugs! deb

DeleteWe like to stay in on NYE
ReplyDeleteUs too only time we ever went out was in the late afternoon to our late friends shrimp boil on ny eve but we were home before dark
DeleteI knot when I need too. No shame in it. Good luck with your finish. We have had heavy rain all day. Watching Popeye sounds fun. We are staying home and making a few appetizers for New Years Eve and margaritas. Probably wont even stay up to bring the new year in. Janice
ReplyDeletesounds perfect for new year's eve I love margaritas have not made me one in awhile-it is my go to drink if I have one. I did get a bottle of asti spumonti
DeleteI am inspired by your slow stitching. Looking forward to seeing the finished bag. I am concerned about winter storms headed this way. Mary @ hilltop post
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary- me too they are predicting some rough weather for January
DeleteWe are huge movie watchers. I guess I have been all my life since my dad used to deliver the film cases to the drive-ins when I was a kid. I think more so now that I don't have the eyes to read books any more. I am happy to see you are creating again. Not doing anything for new year's. Too many idiots out an about. LOL Happy new year's to you and Larry.
ReplyDeleteI agree we have always enjoyed staying home for holidays especially New Year's eve. when we went to our friends celebration he lived down our rural road.
DeleteHappy New Year
A shrimp boil sounds wonderful! I suspect we may watch a movie and probably hit bed long before midnight! Sending all good wishes!
ReplyDeleteThanks and Happy New Year
DeleteI agree with Jeanie. A shrimp boil sounds yummy. I usually don't make it to midnight, especially since tomorrow I have an early in the day appointment. Who knows. You are a very good slow stitcher too. I hope you have a great start to 2025. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThank you Erika
DeleteHappy New Year to you and your family hugs
Sounds like the perfect meal for New Years Eve - yummy 😊. We have storms forecast here so a lot of New Year events have been cancelled, not that it will affect me as we don't have any plans just a bottle of champagne to welcome 2025. Wishing you a happy New Year too, may it be filled with joy, peace and good health ❤️ . Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteStay safe in the storm-Happy New Year!
