Sunshine and Warmer Days Ahead & This and That

 Good morning friends,

We have full sunshine today so far, still a bit windy and gradually warming back up. Am hoping to work outdoors this afternoon for a bit.

My eyes are still bothering me allot, but the eye doctor visit yesterday went well. My eyes are less dry after the two weeks of drops and he says I must continue with at least  3 times a day. The brand he suggested hurt my eyes so my eyes did not like something that was in those. I asked about the brand Refresh instead and he said yes just no generic brands as those have preservatives and other things in them. I also ordered a much needed new pair of prescription glasses. Quite expensive as they usually are-but my insurance will refund me back a little bit of it, and the new insurance should pay most of the eye visit. The glasses I have now I have never liked as they were not right and I gave up on them replacing the lens-so I am so looking forward to my new ones. I have put up with the ones I have now since 2019 too expensive to just go to another eye doctor back then.

I was quite surprised with all the different choices from Refresh eye drops-even one for computer and e reader usage. I will buy that one for sure as I spend allot of hours reading on my kindle. I never liked putting drops in my eyes but I guess I will be getting used to it-smiles.

I ordered a bunch of stickers from Amazon last week to add to my letters that I am mailing out to seniors or those in rehab through Letters Against Isolation.  I never really used stickers before, but I think they will be fun to use in my cards and  letters. I found some beautiful botanical stickers from a couple different sellers. Hoping they arrive this week. Only part about mailing these is you don't know if the receiver enjoyed your letter or not but I think they may look forward to the letters after awhile. This is worldwide so if interested they may have it set up where you live.

I do really enjoy mailing out and receiving slow mail letters. I want to get back to that too this  month. Getting back to more normal too after Larry's accident. He is walking better with his walker but still tires very fast. I am concerned about our steep steps out of the house-but positive thoughts on that .

I made a deep cast iron skillet of an apple-pear-raisin crisp early this morning. It just came out of the oven and smells so good. We will finish up the corn beef slices in reuben sandwiches, for  today's meal. We love home cooked corn beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes so I made that for us over the weekend and sliced up the meat for sandwiches-yum Larry's favorite. Sorry no photos this time.

Larry spotted 4 loons in front of his dock a bit ago-they are so fun to watch as they are diving ducks and I love their song too. That was such a surprise for me to see loons here-I think they migrate from colder areas.

    Enjoy your day my friends

Loons! Their sound in the morning is utterly magical.
    The crisp sounds delicious.
Good news on your eyes. I didn't know that about generic eye drops. I'll have to check what kind I stocked up on.
    Happy Spring!

  2. I hope Larry keeps walking often with his walker to build up strength. Maybe a ramp for your stairs? Your crisp sound lovely and yummy.
I would like to do the cards too you send out but I am horrid at slow mail I guess.
I did get your spring card in the mail hope you get it soon.
We love the loons here they should be coming back soon. Their call and carrying their babies on the their back. I have loved the loon call since I was a little girl.

    1. Hi Cathy for some reason your comments never go into my inbox otherwise I would comment back by email.
Our steps are too steep for a ramp, we had thought of looking into one of those chairs that go up and down-which was our thought when we first bought this house-but new ones are very expensive.
I enjoy slow mail letters with friends since we have very little to none of in person people contact any more. So I enjoy writing it and keeps me in touch with people. I am thinking I gain more benefit from this, where as for most writing letters is a chore as most see people all the time and interact in person. Now that I realize this, slow letters in my mailbox really benefit me but they are not as much on the receiving end.
So I am glad I found out about writing letters to nursing homes, care centers and rehabs-as hopefully the slow mail will brighten their days I just won't anticipate a reply as most will not be able to do that.
I had never seen a loon before as I thought they were only in colder climates-east coast and more north--but they are here on lake in the ozarks to get away from the bitter winters. they are so fun to watch and hear

  6. Oh my goodness-I was just diagnosed with dry eye. I use Refresh drops-the gel and the regular tears. The gel is a little thicker consistency and works good to keep your eyes wetter for longer, but can make your vision blurry for a while. My eyes are really bothering me. I have to use an ointment at night. It's got vaseline and lanolin in it-it's specifically made for dry eye-it's the Systane brand. That will definitely make your vision blurry for a while, and is used only at night, I really have to use it or my eyes hurt. I'm still getting used to all of this-it seems like it came on real fast out of nowhere.
I would love to keep our letter writing going-I have been going through a lot of health issues that I may blog about later. The dry eye is just the most recent one! So I'm sorry I have been not a good correspondent! Take care, my friend!

    1. No worries about writing, I have been not writing as much either. I think the stress of taking care of Larry has now creeped up on me, and my body feels like it is falling apart now.
My eyes are still blurry have not found quite the right drop yet that doesn't burn or make my eyes even more blurry. I do like Refresh brand and found they have so many different ones now too. I think the systane is the one the doctor suggested to get but that one kept my eyes blurry for hours and it burned so I think one of the ingredients in it was not good for me so now I am trying out different Refresh drops. Christine says she uses a wash over her eyelids for dryness I may try that as a wash eye doctor says need 3 drops a day for sure.
so sorry you are going through health issues no fun and scary sometimes too-sending healing vibes to you. I messed up and drove in early for my 6 month primary doctor visit and it is tomorrow instead-what an aggravation that is oh well.
      take care friend

    1. Oh I would be unhappy with snow-but I remember before retirement when we lived on the Illinois Wisconsin border (in Illinois) we invited allot of people for a Memorial Day cook out-and it turned to winter sooo cold I stayed indoors and cooked inside haha.
I love watching the diving ducks too so fun as you never know where they will surface again.
      stay warm hugs

  11. Loons are one of those birds that I could watch all day long. We often have them around us while we are fishing and sometimes have them swim right under the boat.

  12. Well i hope you find my comments Kathy... i know you say you have to go somewhere else to find them... hope you are looking.. Like i said on your previous post we've been sick ... again.. trying to play a little catch up on everything from commenting to mowing grass to getting things ready for the Stock Show... uuughh... feeling a little better though so i better get busy..
I'm not good at eye drops either.. I just put them in the corner of my eyes and let them work their way in.. uuughh.. At least they seem to be helping you a little..

You know i LOVE stickers...lol Hope you enjoy yours too..
I'm so behind on letters..... just crazy ridiculous.. You would think when you were sick and down and out you would at least have the energy to write letters... but i didn't .. no reading no nothing.. just blech!
Maybe Larry could practice the steps just on the bottom step.. you know step up , then step down alternately with each leg...??
Love Loons.. we had them on the lake in Arkansas but never heard them.. so cool you have some... Big Hugs! deb

I am really behind on everything too, taking care of Larry since late October has worn me down. and this up and down weather hot and then cold then super windy drives me crazy too-no perfect world for sure-hugs
when I don't feel good or feel burnt out I pretty much can only handle reading and watching tv,I love sports so have been watching the Blues hockey games they are trying to get into the semi finals now.
Hoping your household gets rid of all the sickness soon-hugs my friend
