Happy Weekend-This and That

 Good morning Saturday,

Looking at the forecast for next week-Wow almost every day will be in the low 70's F   I am hoping I can get warmed up and feeling better.

I still can't get into a doctor sadly and unbelievable to me. Took my temperature the last few days and it's 97  no wonder I am cold. I am never at the normal  temperature but don't remember being this low. I took a short walk yesterday near my house but didn't tackle the steep hills. I will try to move around more. My chest is not clear so continuing with the homeopathic teas etc.

I get a newsletter from The Buffalo Wool Company

They are always doing interesting things and developing new products with buffalo fibers. Right now they are in Alaska for the Iditarod

Last week they shared a book by a native american for children-with lovely paintings. They were sold out on their website so searched online and found the author published two books. The paintings are awesome. I wanted to share these  books. There are many used copies online with all sorts of prices too..

Not sure what is going on with our post office. Packages arriving very late or lost. I went into the  post office to mail my tax papers to our accountant on Monday. He still has not gotten it, hoping they didn't lose it. Also the tracking doesn't work-never had that occur before.  It is going to a city about 4 hours away so should have gotten mid week.  Anyone else in the states having this issue?

This week I baked up chocolate chip cookies for both of us. My gluten free cookies baked up sooo perfect. This hardly ever happens with gluten free flour. I used organic fair trade sugars., butter and coconut oil These were chewy and a bit crunchy-just a perfect bake. I froze most of them so I don't get tempted to eat too many smiles

Still enjoying all the different water birds, we may start getting more boats on the lake with warmer weather coming in next week.

Here where I live we have to change our clocks-I don't like this but I guess they are saying our country is 50/50 on this issue so this continues. There are a handful of states that passed laws not to change time twice a year.

 Enjoy your weekend

  1. Sorry you are still not feeling too well, sending healing thoughts across the miles.

Nice that you are still seeing the different water birds on the lakes, it is good to see them.

Take care and feel better soon

  4. Hi Kathy! So sorry i'am so late to the party. We buried our dear Rancher friend yesterday... a sad day... Kathy have you considered going to the emergency room... ? Its a good way to get seen. I don't know about your insurance but ours its covered except for a say a $100 deductible... just a thought.... I'm glad you know things you can do to help yourself... and i hope you feel better soon... Well we have two days of cool/cold weather then a major warm up...
I have not been happy with the postoffice for quite some time... they lose my mail, packages never arrive... so so picky with the mail i choose to send , raising their prices then the service is bad... so don't get me started there...
I do wish they would just stick to one time frame... I don't like it when it stays light late into the night and i don't like the switching back and forth... just pick one...
Your chocolate chip cookies look yummy... I've had trouble making chocolate chip cookies ever since i had to switch from margarine to butter... they just spread out too much.. I'm thinking i need to chill the dough before i bake it.. I will try that next time....
I'am just getting over a stomach bug for the last 3-4 days... was barely able to make the funeral, but i managed it... Take care of yourself Kathy, keep in touch... Hugs! deb

    1. Good morning Yes I had considered the emergency room at a hospital but that is an hour or more drive each way and not up to that. This morning I did just write a note to the doctor's office-which his nurse will see, letting her know I really need to come in and checked out.
so sorry about your rancher friend I have read online that there is a stomach bug going around too we hardly ever see people-I only do when I go food shopping or need to do other errands.
I never had issues with the post office until just recently they lost something I bought on etsy the seller put in a lost package request and supposedly it is on the way now-we'll see
you take care as well I will stop by and see your owl

  6. I love the time change back to DST. I live for it and I always feel infinitely better, both mood and physically when it happens. Back about 10 years ago when Joy became the Post office guy, they closed a lot of the post offices. Now our mail locally first has to go to a city 90 miles away to get delivered to another address in the city. Ridiculous. It messes up a lot of things but especially timely things due. Love those book pages. And my "normal" is 97.4 but I'm often below. Winter is tough!

    1. Good morning, I am thankful we have a local post office and it is a very old post office building too-excellent staff so I am very happy with them--but when it leaves there or I order online things are getting lost and moving very very slowly not sure why I feel better that 97 is not super bad then I am usually around 98 this has been a rough winter take care

  8. I have that first book about Thomas Blue Eagle. I think it is a reproduction of a book written by and about when native children were forcibly removed and sent off to school to become Americanized. IT's a beautiful book, isn't it? And I hope you feel better ASAP Kathy. Do you have Urgent Cares around you if you can't go see a doctor? That's tough that you can't get in. I hope it's a good start to the new week. hugs-Erika

    1. Oh that could be about the books-I haven't read them yet-just enjoyed the paintings. I love the books No we are very rural with no urgent care type facilities nearby. we have a very warm week ahead-70's every day so that is a good thing. hugs

  9. I've also had an issue with the post office. I recently sent an envelope via Priority, which was supposed to arrive last Monday. The tracking website told me on Friday that it was still in route.

  10. Kathy it sounds like we are going to both receive some warmer weather this coming week. Yeah! Hope you get to feeling better soon. Sometimes those old home remedies work better than all the medicines the doctor's prescribe. I had something so similar this past January and I was weeks getting over it. The stat care doctor said he could test me for covid, flu a or b but in all three cases the virus would just have to run its course. Eventually I got better but it did take some time. Yes and yes about the mail. It is such a mess here and has been for quite some time. Not sure what the problem is but just like that song "the old grey mare is not like what she used to be". :)!! Hugs

  11. I agree the homeopathc medicines keep things in check usually without getting worse. I did finally get a doctors appt-in two weeks though-better than a no Glad you are over your illness too. I am concerned about this lump on my throat-could be some simple like thyroid off or something else.
we keep getting predicted to be warmer this week-some days high 70's wow cool next week though hugs

  13. Dear Kathy, I'm sorry that you're not feeling well yet. I hope you get better soon, may spring bring you warmth and strength. We have lovely weather at the moment with 18 degrees Celsius and sunshine. I spend a lot of time outside and I also like to sew my projects.
The books you've presented are beautiful. I can buy them on Amazon, there's a preview there. They're really beautiful drawings.
On March 30th we're changing the clocks. I don't like that either, although I can now organize my time because I'm at home.
Your cookies look great. I baked cookies last week and took them to my daughter's in Leipzig, they were doing an art project there, which we all enjoyed a lot... it was an exhibition of prints.
    Hugs from Viola

    1. Good morning Viola, I think the warmer weather this week will me out and I get outdoors a bit too. I am happy to read you found the books online too so you could view the paintings-I think these are really special.
There are pros and cons with the time changes so we just have to go along with it since there is no other choice-smiles.
Your are project with fresh baked cookies sounded fun. Happy new week Hugs Kathy

  14. Prayers you feel better
I would not but off seeing a doctor.

I read that the regular 98.6ºF temperature is being rethought. I've always been a full degree colder. It was a hassle trying to explain to a nurse my fever level will show up lower than the norm because of the lower regular body temperature. It is scary to think near 99% of them refused to understand that.

    1. My temperature has always read lower too I do finally have an appt but I have to wait two weeks for it. I am thinking seniors may have a lower temp too when ill yesterday I was finally a 98 I had been 97 for a month now

  15. Kathy, belated get well wishes and perhaps by the time you read this, you are feeling better. It does seem like the post office is less efficient and everything costs more. We also had to wait a long time for tax related documents and finally printed them out ourselves and, of course, the papers came the next day😏
