Good morning,
Brrrrr we have had a lot of wind and cooler temperatures for a few days now. We have been very spoiled with warmer than normal weather this fall so far-so no complaints.
I did get my camera really fast. Larry set it up for me a few days ago. I took a couple photos into a sunny lake just now. It took me awhile to figure out where they were in my computer but found them. I think for the most part the pelicans have migrated on to their next destination. We are just seeing a few now. Lots of sea gulls though. This morning there are lots of small birds flying around over the lake-fishing with the high waves. This time of year until next year May we enjoy bird watching over a very peaceful lake.
This camera is very similar to one I had before, just need to use it a bit to figure out zooming in etc-I am no tech person at all.
Well I will need Larry to help me with the photos-as they would not upload here, I found them and needed to copy and pasted instead
The birds really blend into the lake. If you click on photos they will enlarge lots more
I ended up finding a small Butterball turkey-15 pounds. I wanted a smaller turkey but all they had were gigantic turkeys haha. We decided to brine and smoke it. If the wind decreases we will set it up in the smoker later today. The butterball turkeys have less additives than the store brand turkeys.
Since the house is cold this morning, I am drinking a cup of coffee with a splash of my homemade Kahlua which is 4 years old now., so t tastes like the real thing now I found this instant coffee that is really good if I just want one cup
Enjoy your day.
Update: Larry says the photos are just set up different on the computer-so can't just upload them to my blog like I usually do. It does take a bit to find them but it will get easier-and we have photos smiles
Kathy sounds like you are seeing some wintery moments as we are. Did you send them my way :)?? Have spotted the geese flying overhead and know they are on the move to a new place to winter. That smoked turkey sounds excellent. Many years ago we had a smoker and did a turkey...such a great flavor. I am buying my bird tonight so he can thaw in refrigerator. Do hope you can get indoors and do all your wonderful creating again. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWe just put the whole turkey in the smoker this morning. with it being so windy it is really smokin like crazy. we are watching lots of sea gulls and also several pelicans that are still here. with the choppy water the birds can get to the fish easier. I plan to get back to letter writing and crafting for sure hugs
DeleteYou will get the hang of it! Yeah pictures!!! Whoo hooo!!! I know what you mean i have to do a little fandangiling to get pictures on the blog too but i've got the hang of it now so it does't take too long.... And brr... i'm hugging my coffee this morning too... 66F in the house this morning with no heat turned on.. a little chilly.. but i'm still soaking in the cool after a long hot Summer... so no complaints here... I'm having McCafe coffee from my Keurig coffee pot with a little 1% milk and a dollop of Caramel Macchiato creamer... and a little Equal... Mmmmmmmm...... Caramel Macchiato makes my whole World smile...lol :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sounds delicious! we are still very windy here but sunny-Just put the whole turkey in the smoker-it's smokin like crazy with the wind haha.
DeleteHugs
Small turkeys are the best! Congratulations on your new camera. I hope you love it. (And we had our first snow last night.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I was reading that the east coast was getting some snow, and out west in the mountains too
DeleteYes getting cold
ReplyDeletegood morning-yes
DeleteBeautiful lake pics. We had snow this morning, then changed to rain and it all melted. Janice
ReplyDeletesmile-best kind of snow
DeleteSince it is just the two of us we have the butterball breast. I will do all the fixings.
ReplyDeleteIt will take you a bit to figure out your camera
Cathy
I was looking at just the breast meat by butterball but I like the dark meat more yes always takes time to learn something new
DeleteYeah on getting your new camera and being happy with this one, Kathy. Wishing you and Larry a wonderful holiday and if we were home, turkey and fixings would be done, but we are leaving today for NJ for the holiday. A bit colder here now and finally we have had a full day of rain yesterday, much needed, and more to come today. Thankfully, no snow, yet.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, think most of the country has needed rain this year-glad you are getting some too. enjoy your holiday-hugs
DeleteLove, love, love the views from your house. I can see why you enjoy it so much!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, I do miss living in the woods very much but here on the lake we see people on the lake. I insisted on a view for moving, Larry wanted it more quite in a cove-but their no view-smiles It is peaceful here except from May to Labor day so not bad
DeleteHurrah that this camera is working. I always hate the learning curve, but it is good for our brains. And I can see the pelicans. :) We've had cold mornings and warmer morning here. It's been kind of strange weather for November though. Stay warm Kathy. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI agree challenges keep our brains working. this has been a warmer november here as well-but cold is coming
DeleteThe photos are nice and sharp.
ReplyDeletePhoto programs can change. I don't know exactly why from one camera to the next pictures decide to play hide and seek. I do know that for a reason I'm not aware off, my system's One Drive will capture photo despite my setting all uploads go to the photo editing program, IrfanView.
computer and photos are a mystery-haha
DeleteI like your photographs.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of strong wind and rain today.
Stay safe and warm.
All the best Jan
