Mid Week Post

 Happy Midweek,

So excited for Larry, he went out fishing early this morning with our new friend. I thought I had the video turned on my camera and sigh I missed getting his launching of the boat, and the sunrise-sigh. I will try the sunrise video again as that was awesome to watch the sun come up only took a couple of minutes.

The annual eye visit after cataract surgery (around 5 years ago now) went well. My eyes are staying stable with glaucoma and the macular degeneration. I did have a film build up on one of the cataracts which he cleaned but now that eye is sensitive so will have to watch that. Larry has really poor vision but his conditions are stable as well. So that was good news.

We got a surprise gift in the mail this week from our Wisconsin friends-Rob and Marie. This piece was hand loomed in Czech Republic  It feels like linen but is 100% cotton, and is a dish towel-no I don't think I want to use for a dish towel. I have a glass quilt cabinet that I keep something on top to keep out the sunlight in the summer. I have all the quilts wrapped in tissue paper as well  My friends have their work hours set up to give them long weekends-up to 5 days. They take little trips, usually visiting wineries. They were in a different area in Missouri and visited the Lewis and Clark Boat Museum. It is in the exact spot where Lewis and Clark started their trip.  I can enjoy this piece now as it sits on top of the quilt cabinet that I often walk by. Above the quilt cabinet is a framed photo of a bison in Yellowstone Park.

A happy mail postcard from Deb  thanks much

Drying calendula flowers for my soap making  so wonderful for the skin  I get a few flowers every day now

  1. Happy midweek you Kathy. Glad the eyes are stable. Eyeglasses and other eye related items can get so expensive. And hurrah that Larry got out fishing, whether you have a video or not. And nice gift and beautiful lake views too. I am sitting home today waiting for some rain to come. Well I am baking, hoping for rain. Have a great rest of your week Kathy. Hugs-Erika

    1. thank you. Yes I am very happy I didn't need a new script for my glasses-he explained what was happening and also cleaning the cataract lens has made a big difference in clarity too.
Hoping you get some rain, we have gotten rain mostly when we needed it these last couple of months, but we could use some now again. we are gradually getting hotter again every day too this week Happy baking-hugs

  4. Happy midweek to you too... What a fabulous PC from deb...lol So nice of your friends to surprise you with a gift in the mail.. Don't you just love surprises? ! Great photos of the birds and reflections.. Oh i think we could all moan with you about missed photo opportunities over the years.. I know i could.. I've been trying to draw some koi the last couple days.. darn they are not as easy as they look.. the darn eyes give me trouble.. AND i started working on a SMALL painting i started forever ago with a bench as the main subject next to a tree and a rock wall with flowers.. its proving challenging.. since i really don't know what i'm doing. But as the paint dries i can keep trying.. thats one thing i like about acrylic.. you can paint over it.. lol I hope Larry had good luck fishing.. Wish me luck , tomorrow i go play some morning golf with hubby .. his brother and our rancher friend.. and i will try to get over myself and not be completely embarrassed.. I wish it could just be hubby and i but i don't want to be a party pooper either.. oh well.. I' sure i will not die of embarrassment.. Hugs! deb

    1. Good morning Deb, Yes so fun to get surprises in the mail-hugs I am liking the theme of your next painting, anxious to see it. I should get my acrylics out again, I think they are more forgiving the watercolors. My biggest challenge with watercolors is not letting things dry first before going back in to work on it.
Sounds like a fun day of golfing hopefully the guys won't tease you too much-but it gets you out of the house. and have fun. Hugs

  6. Ohhhh, sad your movie-mode was off! But yay for a boat ride - and good eyes. Seesh. I would need to go, too, I guess. And to the dentist...

Great gift - I would not use that, either! Too precious.
Guess what - in an hour I´m off to buy... a melon!
And... must remind Ingo he bought himself all to make soap!

And thank you so much for the lake-pics, dear Kathy.
And can you guess what I saw yesterday for real?! (I put on a pic) - to a beautiful day!

  10. Wow...some incredibly beautiful views...and photos! I especially love the third lake photo. We have a small home on a small lake a bit north of Nod, but I have not made it up there since the first of the year...so an entire summer missed. 😢 ~Robin~ (TheCrankyCrow)

    1. Oh that's sad you didn't make it up to your lake home. we moved out of the woods and on to Lake in the Ozarks in Missouri a year before covid hit. we love the views for sure and all the wildlife that visit.
