Wow what a difference a day makes
The lake was like glass yesterday not this morning
I took these photos from indoors looking out the glass windows-I had just washed them a bit ago and the rain and sleet has spotted them up already
All photos will enlarge just click on them
When I awoke early this morning it sounded like waves on an ocean hitting the beach-insead strong waves hitting the shoreline here on the lake. Enough so Larry needs to pump his boat back up so it is up where it is suppose to be.
The temps will be dropping all day and evening-low single digits f for a couple nights-and then warm up next mid week.
I have a big pot of northern white beans soaking and will make into ham and beans today. Larry says homemade cornbread too 😀
I tried something different for breakfast today. We switch off from eggs or yogurt and granola. When I bought a few things from Lakanto when they had a big sale I picked up this matcha tea which can be used in a milk, as is for tea, or smoothies-so I decided to add into my yogurt It was good and I like it this way better than mixed with a milk. It already has enough flavors in the mix
Stay warm and cozy all of you in the path of this arctic blast from Father Winter
I am still enjoying a glass of warmed fresh lemon-ginger water-I think this is a keeper beverage
Brrrr. the lake looks cold. The matcha latte mixed in the yogurt sounds good. Matcha is one of the ingredients in the Celestial Seasonings Morning Thunder. The lemon ginger water sounds soothing and comforting. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, I did not know that matcha was in the morning thunder. I can't do much caffeine but so far the matcha has not bothered me-I know it is more caffeine than regular green tea-I should look that up.
DeleteI am really enjoying the lemon ginger warm water very much summer time I will add ice cubes-enjoy your day
ok found this info on google-interesting as I get very high and high blood b/p with caffeine in coffee
DeleteLike coffee, matcha contains caffeine, but instead of the jitters it gives you a clean high. A matcha hit provides 34mg of caffeine, which is the same as a cup of brewed coffee and half the amount of an espresso, however, the tea's buzz is much more energising and longer-lasting.Jan 22, 2016
Sure wish I could drink coffee-and tea with caffeine. I do have dark chocolate though, in small amounts and I admit I love the 'high' from it. Gets me going! We are getting that cold blast here too...Yuk. Can't complain though because overall our winter here has been very mild. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, I can't drink caffeine either especially in coffee-I can handle a little caffeine once in awhile that's in green tea and white tea but the matcha tea I didn't realize it was so high-I will need to be careful with that.
Deletewe have had a pretty decent winter too with plenty of warm ups-
Stay warm and enjoy your hot drinks! Take care of yourself when it's so cold outside. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you-and you as well-hugs
DeleteI've told you again that you live in paradise, Kathy! My house is in the capital of Greece (Athens) and I am dreaming of a house in front of the sea. Well, a lake would be awesome too! I love drinking warm water with lemon but I do not eat yogurt. I know it is strange but it is true! Hugs, my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Mia, yes we do live in a beautiful place. I loved living in the woods but I am really enjoying the lake and all the different birds. I think yogurt is something one has to get used to-Hugs
DeleteI certainly enjoyed your photos today. Isn't it frustrating when you just clean something and you have to turn around and clean it again? Story of my life lately, too!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of the matcha tea, but your ginger-lemon water sounds wonderful. I'll stick with my caffeine, thank you, since, unlike you, if I don't have caffeine, I get incredible headaches.
the matcha tea I have found out has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of tea-but some reason hasn't bothered too much so far as coffee does. My Larry has to have his coffee too. stay warm
DeleteWe've actually had a cold spell here, too. Getting down into the 30s at night which is very cold in a desert country when living in concrete buildings with no insulation and no heat. I'm freezing all the time and am not a fan of the cold. Take care and stay warm. We are just starting a warming trend with 70s during the day and 50s at night which is much nicer.
ReplyDeleteWooh, it looks like it´s a sauna!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, to wake up to that sound must be so wonderful! Reckon I´d fall back to sleep to dream of it some more (as I don´t have it).
Oh-oh. White beans. Hubby´s Grandma used to make those, be careful, if Hubby reads this, he´s on his way! ;-)
(I don´t like them, my Grandma had a talent to get them rather slimey! Brrr)
Have lemon and ginger (fresh) right here - good idea! Heating and keep it hot for 30 minutes, right?
Stay warm! Hugs!
Yes it was wonderful with the waves.
DeleteSlimey beans no I would not like those either-mine are not-I made a big pot so he's welcome-hugs
when I had googled the lemon water some said to simmer the lemons and ginger some didn't I went with bringing the water to a boil first then add lemons and ginger cover with lid and yes let sit for 30 minutes. most said to discard the lemons I use for a second day-I fill a jar with the lemons and ginger add water and put in the refrigerator next morning strain and I heat a cup in the microwave brrrr it is very cold this morning hugs Kathy

DeleteWow, the photos look so amazing and very cold ...lol 😉. Glad all was ok with the wintry cold blast arriving - brrr! We've had stormy weather here too with high winds and torrential rain, it's calm now though 😀. I hope you're having a lovely week and wishing you a happy weekend! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, yes very cold here this morning but the sun is out so that's good. I Had read where your area was getting allot of rough weather too. Happy weekend hugs Kathy
DeleteCold is moving in here this weekend for us too. I was hoping to hike tomorrow with a sunny day in the forecast, but it is going to be too windy. I don't mind a cooler day, but I cannot take the wind.
ReplyDeleteIt got down to 20F last night here, and we left the cabinet doors open and water running just to be safe for the pipes. I imagine it gets colder if you're on water. Especially with wind like that. Wow! White beans and ham and cornbread is the best cold weather meal. Yummm :)
ReplyDeletewe always had to protect the water at the woods house too yes the beans and ham were perfect
DeleteWow, that water looks brutal. Large pots of hot food are always good on bitterly cold days. We have the same arctic blast coming in here in Connecticut, but it sounds like you'll be colder than us. Brrrr. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day a bit late-we had a bit of a warm on sunday with sun-very nice
DeleteIt sure looks cold Kathy. We have it too. We are almost below zero (at 1 now) with wind. Brrr. All you warm foods look or sound like they'll be yummy. I've been wanting to make some beans for awhile. Time to do that I think. Happy weekend Kathy. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletea bit late-hope you had a wonderful weekend-I was binge watching the Outlanders shows since friday-I had not seen any of them except for a few from last year-was a great way to spend the weekend
