T Stands for Tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone,
Wintry and cold here in Missouri.

Tuesdays is also where we share a drink related post with friends and link up over at our hostess-Bleubeard and Elizabeth-you are most welcome to join us. Find link in my right hand column.

Right where I live in the Ozarks in Missouri-we got just enough snow to be pretty here in my woods. No real accumulation perhaps a couple of inches, and no measurable ice-a good thing.
Many in Missouri though got lots of snow, and lots of thick ice-not good -we went through that here about 10 years ago, when we had no electric power for 19 days which also meant no water or sewer. I was very thankful for our survival skills and two wood burning stoves back then.

Over the weekend, I broke my three season avoidance of football-and I do love my football but just would not condone the politics going on. Sports should not be a pawn for that.
I am a die hard Packers fan since 1967 but Over the last few years I have been keeping an eye on the Kansas City Chiefs pro team and it's new coach. They have a great coach-Andy Reid- that just misses getting to that big prize-the super bowl.  So I decided I was ready to watch me some football-and what a game it was-I enjoyed it-Love their quarterback. Hopefully they can beat the Patriots-hope so. I have to say I am sick of seeing the Patriots always in the super bowl.

Most of the weekend I have been working on taxes-always a bit of  a job as we still have a business-and I save all of the paper work til now. Perfect cold weekend for that project.

I did get one page of my fabric journal pages sewn in-but I was not paying attention to what I did for the other pages, and added beads on all three sides. Didn't want to take all that stitching out so will just leave it in for interest. The next page is ready to sew.

This week I got back to reading the second novel in the Outlander series Dragonfly in Amber by Gabaldon. She is really an excellent writer
I am so glad I decided to search this series out to read. This book though, I needed to take a break from for a bit-it was just so full of information about the goings on and war getting ready to start. Not a book I can read straight through at 6 or 8 hours at a time-just too much to grasp.
I may even re read this one again before I go on to the third book.

We are both working really hard not to snack in the evenings-a really hard habit for me especially to break. Instead we eat a little fresh fruit or a little yogurt.
I did find at the Aldi store a really interesting snack so I grabbed me a bag of the organic corn and veggie chips, and the container of guacamole with pineapple and roasted poblano peppers-interesting so wanted to give it a try.
I tried it tonight-very good. Simple ingredients so one could make this at home too.
These chips have very little salt and are thick and hearty so I was full after a good handful of chips. So that was a good thing, in my younger years I have been known to eat a whole bag of chips instead of dinner-lol

Wow I am typing this up with the news and weather on-we are headed to the 50's f mid week but over the weekend we are going down to 8 f degrees with 40 mile an hour winds-I am thinking the Chiefs-Patriots football game will be freezing cold.

For my drink share I brewed up a pot of my chicory decaf beverage and topped it with cream
Have you seen the Redi Whip whipped cream with almond or coconut?? I tried them both and I love them-not much in the cans so rather expensive and you have to read the directions on getting the cream out of the can or it won't work-shake shake shake-and turn the can up side down then push for cream. No sugar or carbs in the almond just a couple in the coconut I think my favorite was the almond.

I also wanted to share a recipe I just found-I added this blog to my blog reading list and she shared these protein bites   I think I may make some-very simple ingredients-any nut butter, almond flour, sweetener, cinnamon

How is winter where you live??

Happy T everyone!!!

  1. Winter right now is very cold and wee have a few inches of frozen snow on the ground. with more to come this weekend. The amount just keep going up. They started saying 1-3, then 5-8 and now 8-12. But it is still so many days away who can say. We are the same way with no water when we lose power. The longest we have been out is 5 days, and that is hard so I can't image 19 days. Yup, thank goodness for woodstoves. And I guess we will be rooting for opposite teams this weekend. But either way, it should be a really good game as they are both good teams. But you know how football (or many sports) is, eventually another team becomes the one that is in the winning streak. It inevitably happens. Hope you have a happy T day Kathy!

  2. Happy T-day Kathy! Seems you are one very busy lady. I have had Kale and flax seed corn chips and loved them, but Costco hasn't had anymore in years :( I have not tried the ones your showing.....but I'll keep an eye out for them. I have seen the Redi Whip with almond or coconut, and was wondering if they were any good......yes they are pricey here. Good to know HOW to get it out of the can LOL.
Winter here has been typical California weather, cold one day, warm one day......until today. We had 47 mile an hour wind gusting through all day, when it died down a bit it rained. We live in a valley and the mountains around us are getting snow. The main road to Los Angeles was closed most of the day due to snow and ice. More to come the next couple of days...then the really bad fog will roll in after the rain....yuck! Our fog gets depressing.
I have boycotted football, since it got political too. I confess I really do miss it, might start watching again now that things have died down a bit. But, I'm NOT a Packer fan LOL!
Hop you have a great week....and I LOVE your fabric journal.

    1. Hi Krisha, fog is the worse to drive in especially at night, and ice is really bad too-nice to be retired so I can choose to stay indoors if I want to.
That made me smile Not a Packer fan haha well they have coach and team moral issues going on now so they won't be a factor unless they get all that figured out.
      enjoy your week-hugs

  3. Its been cold here too Kathy..minus the snow.. the snow just keeps missing us.. Very cold weekend ahead of us too.. 2 inches of snow predicted for Saturday... I'll believe it when i see it... Fingers crossed!

Well you know i will be cheering for the Patriots this coming weekend.. I don't envy them playing in the cold.. I always back the old timer quarter backs.. Peyton Manning was my favorite before he retired.. So it will be the 'old man' against 'the kid'... That Mahone is pretty darn good.. Just might be a good game... Unlike the Dallas game i watched where Dallas didn't 'show up'... I agree with you on politics and football... I just skip the beginning of the game and i don't have to listen to it.. I did stop watching all together for awhile but i missed it.. skipping the first part has worked for me.. Stay warm and safe Kathy. Hugs! deb

    1. Hi Deb, yes I tuned in about minutes late to not see or hear anything about the politics-I love football too and just had to check out the chiefs. In this game Mahone doesn't seem to be good at throwing the ball down field like Brady can. I hope it turns into a close game stay warm and safe

  4. Winter here is not too bad, in the south of Germany they have had lots of snow with avalanches and many people are snowed in. Your snacks sound good. I don't eat anything after 6p.m. as it tends to spoil my sleep, but I dolove some crisps or chips here and there, especially sweet potato ones. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  5. Tomorrow is to be in the mid 40s F, then it's into the deep freeze like KC from Thursday night through early next week. The KC players are already starting to up their carbs and are experimenting with various gear to keep their muscles warm when they are not on the field.

Those are great looking veggie corn chips, but the avocado dip is the best looking to me. Even better than your new Reddi whip chicory drink. Thanks for sharing your sewing journal, your news about the Chiefs, and your chicory decaf with us for T this Tuesday. Can you guess who I'll be rooting for this Sunday???????

  6. it´s winter here where i live, too, snow coming and going - but not that worse as it is 200 km far south, in the alps and alpine upland - massive snow, avalanches, many people trapped in their villages or hotels (tourists), now more than one week no schools open there, some people died by trees that fell by too heavy snow or by shoveling the roofs because the weight of the snow became too heavy... i hope for them the worst is behind them soon (but then flooding rivers might be the next problem).
kathy, as you asked: of course you can pin anything i blogged on your pin boards. that reminds me i should update my pinterest, then it is easier to take the link. will try to do today.
    happy t-day! xox

    1. thanks Johanna, I loved your idea of how you made your journal for the christmas cards pinning is a good way for me to save ideas and tutorials
Hope everyone left in those avalanches can get out safe-how horrible and sad. I have not seen that on our news. we get allot of flooding around here as well after ice and snow melts.
      stay warm-hugs Kathy

  7. We have had cold days but it's been sunny too which has been lovely, today it's decided to be grey and a bit windy ...lol 😉. I love American Football, we only get highlights here in the UK and then the Superbowl is televised in full - yay! The tortilla chips and guacamole look yummy, they would be great to eat during the game too, don't you think! As always I love seeing your Yellowstone mug 😁. Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊 x

  8. Love the cozy warm look of your fabric page. The chips and guacamole sound like a nice snack to enjoy but I would have that as an afternoon snack:) It's quite cold here too, and although no real snow yet I am now hearing that could all change soon:( Not big on sports of any kind but I did watch the Eagles lose on Sunday eve and people were NOT happy about that result around here. Stay warm, and happy T day!

  9. The ice storm came through and took out our power for two days, but it is back on now. I think that the Patriots and Chiefs game will be better than the Super Bowl! Go Chiefs, I am sick of the Patriots always winning too. But Jimmy Johnson said it best, if teams are tired of them winning, then work harder and go beat them! I am doing a purge of scraps, and feeling a lot lighter!!

    1. So glad you were able to find new homes for some of your scraps. Last year I went through my fabric stash and a couple visited us from out of state and I learned that her and her daughter were quilters-perfect I said I have all of this I don't want-she said wow how much can I can take? All of it I said lol I really felt good about that
sorry you ended up with no power-that is always hard to deal with especially no losing the well. I think this next chiefs game will we really good too-enjoy your week

  10. Especially cold in NJ too, but like you, just enough snow to be pretty. I do love the woods around our house, and seeing all the animal prints in the snow is joyful each morning. Pretty page embellishments! Your blanket stitching is lovely. Indulge in your football! Life is short, have to grab at Joy whenever we can. We deserve it!

  11. Oooh, lots of good stuff in this post. I have read the first 4 or 5 Outlander books 3 times. Mainly because there were such big gaps between later books coming out, I sometimes forgot the story with so many characters and things going on. I'm now trying to get through book 8 as book 9 will be coming out. Patriots and Chiefs game should be a good match up. I'm so glad I don't have to brave the cold to see that game. And I hope our weather isn't as snowy as the weather dudes are saying. I'm hoping they're just hyping the weather as wishful thinking because we haven't had much snow this Winter. The cheery strawberry embellishments on your page are making me think of Summer. And I'll have to look for the coconut milk Redi-Whip. didn't know they made such a thing. Almond milk is okay, but I prefer coconut milk. Stay warm and have a Happy T Day

    1. I agree even in my younger days I would not be watching a big game like this one in that bitter cold-talking below freezing brrrr
I think you will like the coconut redi whip-it tasted a little too sweet for me, the almond no sweet taste at all which I liked. you stay warm as well.
I went to her blog when I was looking to buy her books-and she said-don't bug me for a date for her book 9 she is doing tons of research on that one too-will give me time to catch up on all the books enjoy your week

  12. My hubby is a Colts fan ;) Politics is everywhere, and I just take that into account. My favorite sport is Sumo wrestling, and I can highly recommend it for a sport that our political spats never touch lol I enjoy the regular chips and dips/salsa but don't venture into new products like non-dairy coconut milk. I've never heard of such.

I'm in Memphis, and our winter has been fairly boring so far. No snow *sigh*

    Happy T Tuesday!

  13. So glad you are enjoying the Outlander books! My all time favorite series and I am thoroughly enjoying the series on Starz Network. I wish I still had the books to reread but loaned them to a friend and never got them back.:( We are still digging out of it. Today I have to haul the trash out on a sled and just hope the company can get it off the mounds the snow plow made. I also have to dig out in front of the mailbox cause the won't get out of their car to reach over the snow mound.
    Happy T Day!

I bought the whole set of novels and one extra fat book with all the geneology etc in it on ebay-so glad I invested in them-and they are all now very pricey books-I love the cookbook too stay warm and safe hugs

It has been a great post to read Kathy and I loved seeing your fabric journal page.
Your dips sound yummy and I think I would be eating way to many of those chips. The whip topping for your drink sounds lovely as well.

  15. We have so much snow as well and more to come! Johanna explained our situation here. I am not familiar with American Football and are confused with what the players do there and soccer is not my thing as well - Not interestied in it. I just watch the final plays of European mastercup or worldcup.
Your fabric journal page is amazing and and your dips and chips are something I would not be able to stop with-lol!

sounds like your winter is pretty rough so far-we will have a deep freeze this coming weekend and perhaps more snow afterwards.
thanks about my journal I hope to get the pages sewn through June with cover and made a second book for the rest of 2018-I am for sure behind-good think I took notes-lol

  16. Great photos and food images! I enjoyed reading your post. 8 degrees is very cold for your weekend! I'm in the North East, and right now they won't commit to what our weekend forecast will be, other than one meteorologist calling it a "dumpster fire." We have a rain / snow mix coming with the temperatures going down to 11 Sunday into Monday, so that rain saturated snow will become cement. The future is looking ugly where I am.
