Spun Yarn & This & That

   Good afternoon,

I was able to get the hose out and water the perennials early this morning, the weather at dawn was cooler with less humidity but that  still wore me out. I have the thermostat set at 81F degrees-any lower than that-- the a/c runs constantly-I hear dollar signs haha for the electric bill coming in. The house is actually comfortable at that setting too.

I have been having fun with the spinning-and working on getting the right amount of fiber on the carders-I was getting too much at first.

It is a bit rough but getting better I was looking for these niddy noddys as I knew I had two of them

I found the other one with spun bison fibers on it-so will work on that too  I still have a few balls left of roving from my purchase-I love this fiber.  I will be weaving this in with other fibers I have already spun for my garment--this could be a good winter project for me

I have been on a buying spree online. I was curious about the magazine artists watercolors I think it is called but the year subscription is very expensive-so I searched for used on ebay and bought one years worth that featured the different seasons-so some painting inspiration there.

I did pick up mostly on Ebay a couple coloring books, another book from same author that I shared where you paint in the book-hers has quality watercolor papers in the book-others when I read the reviews had bad papers in them. I also bought two books suggested by a you tube video that I will share when I get those. and I splurged on a new dip pen with different nibs. Do any of you have this one? It also includes two different pens to hold the nibs. This pen set was actually very inexpensive under $20.00 I think it was. This one was less expensive on amazon but I didn't have other items I needed to get the free shipping.

In the slow cooker I have a made up recipe for stuffed large yellow bell peppers. I used chicken-white beans, sauted vidalia onions and sweet peppers, diced up poblano mushrooms, added cooked cabbage-it wasn't quite done yesterday in time for our main 2 pm meal so am serving it today-hopefully it will be good. Update: this was really good and Larry liked it too. He add Newman's salsa to his.

No mistaking today is Friday-as the boats are on the lake-loud and clear haha

Happy Friday and weekend

  1. Hi Kathy, no, I don't have that pen, I use just ballpoint pens...but then again, I am not artistically talented, I just use them to write and for crossword puzzles. I went out today and the temperature here in Montreal is l91.4. Not 100, but still very hot and humid, even after we got some rain! This weekend into early next week is supposed to climb even higher, so I am staying in.
I went to Dollarama and bought some things today as well as a pet supply store to get some spray millet and bird seed for my two male zebra finches. I got a food order last week so I am good for that, at least until the middle of next week, thankfully.

Take good care of yourself and stay cool, thank God for air conditioning. :)

    1. It is still super hot and humid here in Missouri as well I agree with health conditions we would not be able to handle this heat without the a/c I grew up with no a/c my parents didn't want anything to do with it-but in Indiana it usually did not get severe like it his here in Missouri. and when it was very hot we hung out at the mall haha
I have another fish box from Alaska coming first week in August I need to get out soon early to shop for a few fresh items
      you stay cool as well-hugs

  3. Your spinning looks great, and I like how you make stuffed peppers. I wish my hubby would eat them because I'd make them more frequently. I hope the lake isn't too noisy today, but if it's hot and since it's Saturday, it probably will be. Take care. hugs-Erika

  4. We set the house at 74... usually 75 but hubby has said he was too warm having it set at that... Ours does turn off but maybe our newer home has more or better insulation.. ?
Mornings have been nice here... down in the lower 70's , as long as it does that its much better for us.. Once you hit the mid 70's and higher overnight its unpleasant..

I will definitely be waiting to see what you do with your fiber! My Mom and Grandma used to make stuffed peppers..when i was little.. They knew i didn't like the peppers so they would put little 'meatballs' in the pot for me.. there's was a tomatoy soup they cooked the green bell peppers in.. and i remember the meat inside had rice in it.. But thats all i remember..
I think i have that same ink pen set... i have yet to open it and use it...lol I'm terrible.. sigh.. Still working on my magic beans.. finally have the background right.. With a rainbow color of beans its hard to pick the background color.. Hugs! deb

    1. The heat and humidity here is really bad-especially for seniors and health issues. The birds are not even coming in for their bird seed-but the squirrels are haha. I got a too ripe watermellon-sigh so I have been putting some out on a paper plate Larry said the birds might like it for the water-but the squirrels loveeee it haha it took them a day to decide-today they ate it all up fast I need to see if I can get a photo.
I picked up this pen as it included different nibs of different sizes-that may be nice for outlining watercolor Like really need more craft tools haha but I am really stuck in the house with this heat--we have heat warnings every day now.
Good luck with your painting anxious to see it hugs

  5. You are certainly keeping active with your various indoor projects, Kathy, and when the weather is so hot that's the best place to be for sure. I can't on the fiber project since other bloggers who have know a lot more about this art. However, cooking stuffed peppers in the crockpot wounds like something I might try the next time as we usually bake them in the countertop oven.

    1. I have been doing a lot of reading, feeling lazy with this heat, so am enjoying the fibers accomplishing something too.
Usually when I make stuffed peppers I do put them in my slow cooker. this is the first time I made them this way Larry is not digesting rice and we had beef two days in a row so went with chicken and a different version. for these I added a little chicken broth-no salt-on the bottom when I make them with hamburger I put spaghetti sauce on the bottom of the crock pot with a little of the filling if extra. nothing sticks that way
