T Stands for Tuesday & Winter is Back

Tuesdays is when we gather for T with friends and a beverage related post.
You are most welcome to join us-find our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth's link in my right hand column

We were spoiled for sure enjoying those spring like temperatures for a few days-but winter has returned and is staying around this time-with snow on the ground, ice in the mornings, and just cold-I am going through the propane gas this month faster than I want to. We are staying in this winter pattern for awhile now-well I know it is still winter-but it is slowing us down for outdoor work at the lake house.

This week I thought I would share photos of the deer visitors-they are always so fun-and lots of birds too with this snow on the ground now.

just click for full size photos

I found some corn on the cob that had been in the freezer too long so I put it out for the wildlife-a nice treat

A few days ago I posted about a book I was reading Blue set in the 18th century and was a spy type read about the newest blue color and the fight to get it. This was a very good read based on historical facts.
I wanted to thank the two commenters letting me know that a new blue has been discovered after 200 years-I would think this would have been huge news but I had never read about this.
Crayola bought the rights to it. Find the new blue in crayons here So I wanted to thank you both again and of course I had to buy it lol  I bought the crayon box that had 4 crayons of this new blue. I hadn't searched out crayola lately and they have a great site-I picked up a few other things too-to expand my art a bit.

For my beverage share this morning-I am enjoying a cup of my chicory beverage with whipped cream on top.  very good lol

I have been picking up in two's a few plates and bowls designed by the Pioneer Woman-I really love the flowers they are so pretty-my go to dishes right now

Happy T everyone!

  1. Wow! So many cardinals. I'm lucky if I catch a glimpse of the cardinals every now and then. The deer look like they are enjoying the corn. I think I have some ears buried in the freezer. Maybe I'll give that a try to see who stops by. I like the cheery colors on the Pioneer Woman's line. My elderly neighbor used to call her the cowboy lady and loved her cooking show. Happy T Day

    1. I know we are blessed with their beauty We love them-the cardinals love black oiled sunflower seed so that is what I buy mostly now for bird seed
I catch her show once in awhile too-we can't eat the way she cooks and bakes but I do get allot of food ideas from her

  2. So sorry you are having winter again. I'm sure the birds and animals are grateful for their food, your place must be a haven for them. Happy T Day, stay warm, hugs, Valerie

  3. Winter here also! Windy too. I must be living under a rock, who is the Pioneer Woman? Thought it was you, Kathy, said with affection.

  4. The birds and the deer in your photos look great, they are obviously happy to call by, knowing they will get some food. The weather looks awful, stay safe and warm.
We get the Pioneer Woman's cookery programs on our food channel [free TV]. She has some good recipe ideas, the crockery looks very pretty.
    Happy T day wishes Kathy.

    1. Hi Kathy just calling back to answer your question. The Hall you asked about is about 20 miles from where we live. In the county of Northumberland .... North Eastern England.
We are so pleased work is being done, to save it for future generations.

  5. You're lucky to have that many cardinals, especially all at the same time. The deer looks nice. (Deer eat the bird seed out of my bird feeder: not by my choice.) I got lucky today that an overnight forecast for 2" to 4" of snow went much lighter than that, although it fell as sleet and freezing rain which made the roads icy. I didn't hear that a new color blue was found after 200 years, either. That should have been big news. I like those plates behind your coffee mug. Happy T-Day!

    1. Yes the deer can get become pests for sure. we have some more wintry weather coming in late tomorrow-this is an active February this year.
I thought so too that the new blue color would have been in the news.
      Happy T

  6. Love your new background theme, Kathy. It suggests fabric arts to me. The wildlife photos are great; they make me recall the nice parts about cold northern winters (grin).

It's amazing that there are still colors to be discovered. Average human senses are so limited. I sing in a choir. Our director has perfect pitch and has told us that each of the 8 notes most of us hear has 100 distinct variations!

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  7. Isn't it so heartwarming to see all the birds and animals in your backyard... I only wish I could get photos of our birds but it is so hard for me. The Crayola Factory (and museum) is only a town away from me but no, I have never been-only passed by it. Yummy looking mug but I am eyeing up those colorful plates behind it:) Happy T day!

  10. Now I know where all the cardinals have gone. They are wonderful. I used to see them in Wichita when I first moved here, but I haven't seen any in years.

Ree is designing plates and bowls now? I guess you know she and her husband bought and opened a Mercantile in one of those small towns in OK. I want to go there one day. She is also a judge on some Food Network show. I think it's cookies.

Thanks for sharing your nature photos and your colorful dishes, as well as your chicory and whipped cream with us for T this Tuesday.

  13. Cardinal Heaven! They are such striking birds, and it must be fun having so many at once. I haven't looked for the new blue crayons in the store yet, but maybe I won't wait for that ;) Thanks for the link :) Those dishes are lovely. I think they'd brighten up my solid-colored Fiestaware. Happy T Tuesday

  14. Wow! Cardinals! What a treat! And your corn came in handy for the deer. They seem to love it.
I love those bowls. I didn't know Pioneer Woman had a range of bowls. I used to follow her in the early days of her blog (before she was famous). She was one of the first to blog recipes with lots of 'how-to' photos, and I loved that. And she would write stories about 'home on the ranch' and her 'Marlboro man' husband. Very entertaining.
    Happy T-Day,
