Good afternoon, I totally forgot about today being June 1st--soooo Happy June
For sure a June day-humid and high 80's. Warmer tomorrow-but then Tuesday lots more rain coming in. June 5th will be our 43rd wedding anniversary
I did get mowing done this morning-one large battery for the weed eater, and I worked a bit in the garden. Took a few photos. Hoping to get back to mowing before the sun goes down later today.
Tuesday we have huge amounts of rain coming in-sigh. So I am delaying getting flower seeds scattered about til after the worst of it. This coming week on the non rain days-need to also get back to tackling all that mint-ugh
The milkweed I had planted from seed last year is blooming and has multiplied a bit-love that. and I saw the first butterfly today, and birds using the bird baths. Smiles
The lavender seed from my old plant that found a spot in the rock wall-is blooming
Milkweed
To the left is my new lavender plant-that was a splurge do to the price-but it was a large plant which I thought would give it a good start before winter. I found those two straggly lavender plants from my original one that I brought over-that was over 25 years old-so it had a good life
I wintered over two pots of amaryllis bulbs. I was concerned that they may have died as they never started growing in the house before the last freeze-which they usually do. I set them both outdoors as I didn't think we should get another freeze-and after a week they started to grow.
The pot to the right is older and has two baby bulbs-all three are just starting to green up with leaves-that makes me happy
Happy June my friends
Hi Kathy, your photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGood evening Thank you
DeleteLovely garden
ReplyDeletethank you it's getting there
DeleteMy lavender did not make it. Guess I will need to buy some more. The milkweed I am use to here is not the same you pictured. Our milkweed has pods that the monarch butterflies love and if you break off a stem, white stuff comes out like milk. Ours is not orange. Janice
ReplyDeleteThere are all sorts of milkweed plants which I learned when I was buying seeds-I lost the marker on which one this is I have a couple more that have not bloomed yet will show those if when they bloom. these have skinny seed pods that have white fluff on them so they will fly- I think I still have a photo of a butterfly on it
DeleteHappy June! The garden is looking great!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteOh i'm so glad you are having such luck with your plants Kathy! And that so many of your perennials you were concerned about survived the water leak... :)I just love perennials .. i like to plant once and then enjoy them every year... I need to get out there and mow this morning.. i've almost waited too long.. but i'll finish my coffee and get out there... :) Had a nice sleep in this morning.. no appts, no kiddos... You could try to make the holes of the netting the size to keep out the bigger animals but still a size to let bees in?? Enjoy your day!!! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see my perrenials too I thought I would have lost them-Lots of rain coming in starting tonight-ugh I need to figure out the pollination with the netting-will search on google

DeleteKathy - happy June to you...Also congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. It is a milestone and you should celebrate. Your plants are looking good...hope the rain moves out so you can get things planted. We also have had a challenge getting things in the ground. Hoping to get my seeds planted tonight. Between the cold and the wet weather it has seemed more like late March and early April. Today it will make it into the 70's - yeah! Have a lovely day. Going to read your previous post now. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHappy June to you too! Your garden looks like such a peaceful, rewarding place, especially with all those plants thriving after so much care. I love how you’re mindful of the rain and planning around it gardening really teaches patience, doesn’t it? I hope the squirrels leave them be. Thanks for sharing your garden’s little victories; it’s inspiring to see life blooming despite the challenges. www.melodyjacob.com
