Hello September

Good morning, Happy Labor Day, and Welcome in September

I am so ready for September and cooler weather.  The lake of course, has been crazy busy-expected and we missed the rain-again-that was predicted. Yesterday was warm but looks like we are back to 70"s F today Love it.

Over the weekend I have been tearing strips of quilt fabrics-that I won't be using any more. Some of the pieces came from my Mom's sewing stash-she never kept a lot of fabric around-unlike many quilters who "collect" fabrics.  A few of them I remember picking up when a quilt shop was closing, and one piece with lots of yardage was a gift from a blog friend  20 years ago when I first retired-that one will be perfect for the rug.

I decided to iron all the strips and remove all the loose strings-some of the quilt fabrics really bunched up after tearing-so I think these will be much nicer to use being ironed.

I have gotten no where with the bad seller on Ebay-he is in denial-tells me the needle is in the mail but the tracking shows not shipped-could be an error with the post office-but I don't want his needle. I found a much nicer one on Etsy. I can't contact Ebay about the needle til Sept 4th along with reporting that he hasn't settled returning my money or sending me a label for his instructions.

Did you watch any college football over the weekend?  I watched the Notre Dame game they lost as the time ran out-but this year they have a rookie quarterback that will get better over the season.

Tomorrow early I need to get my car inspected so I can renew the plates. Since I have an old car (1999) I need to get it inspected every 2 years.

Off to turn the page on my calendar to September

  1. Welll..... even though i'am ready for Fall the temps will reach 90F today... Over what was supposed to be a rainy weekend we finally scored a down pour yesterday afternoon for almost an inch of rain... we'll take it.. After that July 4th flooding we have had very little moisture..
After not really having a story to tell you about scamming... We got scammed Friday... on Facebook.. We decided to sell our kayaks... They are too heavy for us to manhandle anymore. We bought expensive, heavy duty ones at the time.. used only maybe a handful of times... Hubby asked $1000 for his and some one offered him $950 and if we would meet him halfway to Austin in Llano... We agreed.. Its about a 2 hour drive... Luckily, hubby also arranged to play golf with some buddies there... because the guy never showed up! Well we learned our lesson and we won't do that again.. The rudeness of some people...
No football watching... not into college ball and all my old timey quarterbacks have retired... I hope to catch a few Mahome's games though.. :)
Take care Kathy! Enjoy your cool days! Hugs! deb

    1. Good morning, the good thing is that you didn't lose money over it-always take cash only for sales like this-and hubby got to golf.
I hope no more 90's here til next summer a wonderful cool down but no rain-over a month now.
I like Notre Dame they have a great coach now too. first game for the rookie qb and lost by 3 points so not bad.
I looked up when the first KC game is with Mahomes-this friday-playing in a different country and only on You Tube--so can watch the game there
      take care hugs

  2. We were a beautiful breezy 80 today. We stuck close to home as the traffic was crazy everyone closing up and going home. Can't wait to see what you make from all of that.
    good luck with your inspection.

  4. Hope you get your money back. I dealt with a seller whom I never received my merchandise. She finally confessed she would not be sending me my monies or my purchase as she needed the monies because she had lost her job. It was on a primitive site that I purchased my item from so there was no guarantees of getting money back which I never did get back. Another prim friend of mine also got scammed by her. I always say karma will get her some day. Janice

  6. Happy Labor Day and September, Kathy. Slowly and gently returning to blogland after taking some time off. Sounds like life is good for you (apart from ebay).

  7. Happy end of Labor Day weekend.

I hope you get your money back, including postage. When I get something, whether Scott sends it or I get a gift, I always take a photo of it before I open it and as I open it. If it's damaged or something is wrong with it, I have proof. It's true my camera is my right arm.

Sorry about Notre Dame. I don't watch any college ball, even basketball. People think I'm nuts since I'm such a big basketball fan.

I look forward to seeing what you make once you get your needles.

    1. Good morning I am the sports fan Larry doesn't watch any sports at all. when I was younger I loved going to college basketball games-back in my 20's I watched Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls-every game after he retired I haven't watched any basketball. Notre Dame right now has an excellent coach and a great defensive team and I do watch the KC Chiefs football because of Mahomes-he is an amazing athlete like Brady was. thanks I hope I don't have problems figuring out the rug making the nailinding will be more challenging

  8. Good luck with the eBay situation. I remember when they changed their refund policy in favor of buyers. There is hope all is settled to your satisfaction.
    Happy September!

    1. Oh no so sorry Iris-have you contacted the sellers? ebay protects the buyer very well, not sure about etsy as I have never had any problems there. How fun! the nfl seems to be playing in different countries again this year

  10. So sorry to read about your bad experience at Ebay. Years ago I had a bad time with something-long story, I don't use it anymore. I'd much rather go to Etsy. My mom made a huge braided rug when she was young-it was beautiful.

    1. Hi Debra, my Mom made a large round braided wool rug too when I was still a kid at home. She also did many gorgeous hooked rugs-that she dyed all of her wools for. back then she hooked on burlap
I love etsy too and I usually do not have any issues on ebay-but it happens
