T Stands for Tuesday & a Lovely Autumn Weekend

Happy Tuesday Everyone,
It's T Time again this Tuesday.
In this blogging event we join our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T. We share a drink related post with friends.
You are Most welcome to join us, just show us a photo of your beverage and then link up with our hostess.

Find the link in my right hand column.

We had the most gorgeous fall weekend in my area of the Ozarks. Deep blue skies, full sunshine, upper 60's f for the temperature, and not much wind--just a perfect October weekend.

I grabbed the camera and took a couple photos-out back.
Our oaks here mostly go right to brown, so we don't have allot of color near the house. The nut trees give yellows but those leaves have dropped, we do have the pretty red on the sumac, and we have a maple tree near the house that is pretty and has reseeded in a few places around the ponds

Deer foot prints

Tepee poles.
We brought down with us when we retired-Hub's handmade tepee that him and his re enactment group had made-many years ago now.
My vision was always to get it put up and do a sleep over and then early morning go on a primitive hunt- sadly never happened.
We finally got the poles made though-in hopes of selling it all before we move.

Miss Calico enjoying the warm sun Cats never seem to show their age-like dogs do. She is going on 19 years old now-amazing

My last little sunflower-these grew in this pot on their own from bird seed that fell in from the birds Around 5 plants grew-this is the last one.

I am going to see if I can start walking again now that the weather is nicer and more comfortable-we still need a hard freeze though to kill off those biting bugs.

I made up several Christmas cards this past week, figured out a way to use those stamped pieces that were on tracing paper too. I totally forgot to take some photos before I sealed them in their envelopes.
I ended up gluing down another piece of parchment paper on top of the inked piece-then glued that piece to the card-and then hand stitched the sides down.
I had about 8 or more of those stamped so didn't want to waste them. They turned out really pretty.

I am still waiting for my Christmas sealing stamp to come in the mail-couldn't figure out why it was taking so long from Amazon-turns out it is coming from China-haven't figured out how they can say it is being delivered with usps (our post office)  Oh well-So I ended up purchasing another different Christmas stamp in case that one doesn't get here in time.  I want to get them in the mail early this year right after Thanksgiving.

Allot of the stress is finally gone with our lake house.
The bank wants us to have flood insurance which is very very expensive, the new fema maps show us right on the line or just away from it.
The seller and that area says no it doesn't flood.  Well after much digging and looking into it all-we discovered we needed to have a survey with elevation--Happy Dancing on late Friday-the report came back-- this property is Not in the flood zone-- they also did all the paper work with fema for us that needed to be done.
That was a big one for us to get done.
So I think we are all set now for the closing which is the end of November.

We went to the eye specialist for my husband last week-he has been putting this off for several years now til we could find another eye surgeon. We were learning about allot of dissatisfied patients from the office we were thinking of using. We are very pleased so far with this new doctor, and scheduled his first catarach surgery.  There was a cancellation so he got moved up to next week.

So we have lots happening here it seems.

Our friends from Wisconsin that come down for deer hunting-"deer camp" -will be coming in on Wednesday instead of Friday in a couple of weeks-being our last one we'll need to make it special.  They have already asked if they can come down to the lake house-of course they can-lol

Oh and update-our friends just called, and they are coming down on a Monday instead-a week before deer hunting-gun-to tile our two floors for us that need to be done. How special is that??  I have been putting off Larry doing this because he is just not healthy enough any more to tackle this job and I was getting ready to study how to do this-they must have been reading our minds---so thrilled over this kindness.

Sorry this post got so long

For the drink I am sharing this week, I made a treat after working in the garden area over the weekend.
I had one ginger beer (no alcohol) left so I added it to a glass of frozen vanilla yogurt.  Yum

Happy T Day everyone!!

and here is a photo of my blueberry Bai water from the weekend when I was water sealing the wood stairs and decks  I finished that project up today-looks so nice now-ready for winter

More photos on my previous post--this is the building I shared  a while back-the upstairs is our sleep over spot for out of state friends, and the downstairs is Hubs business space

    1. Yes everything is set for the closing-end of November, and we don't get the house til early December-at the sellers request as she will be moving out of state.
depending on the weather we will be doing the needed upgrades and move over slowly

  4. I’ve had both eyes done for cataracts, and it went easily and well, I’d rather have cataract surgery than any number of dental procedures. If it’s Larry’s first time, he will enjoy how clear and colorful everything looks afterwards. Best wishes on it!

  6. A lovely post Kathy with super photos.
You are having such a busy time. It seems to be going well with the lake house and you must be so happy that the results proved it wasn't in a flood area.
Enjoy the time with your friends and I hope all goes well with your husband's eye procedure.
Happy T day wishes for tomorrow.

    1. Thanks Susan, Miss Calico is doing so well for her age-last year she had lost allot of weight so I started giving her larger servings of canned cat foods with the gravy-she has put on weight over the summer

  8. Cats know how to live, don't they! Congratulations on being outside the area requiring flood insurance. I know y'all will be glad to have the eye surgery behind you. It's easier dealing with a doctor you have confidence in. Volunteer sunflowers are such a delight :)

    Happy T Day

    1. Yes these sunflowers just put a smile on my face for sure. Cats always look so comfy when they are resting. yes it was such a relief to find out about the elevation certificate to satisfy the bank-and will save us lots of money. Yes Hubs feels really good about this doctor-happy T

  9. Wow, Kathy! I can't remember seeing intense blue skies like that. Lucky you. I'm happy you're able to enjoy such beautiful weather in the midst of the chaos of selling and moving. Excellent news on the flood plain insurance.

I'm also happy to hear you've found an eye surgeon with good patient reports for the cataract surgery. Chris didn't search around and now has worse vision and glaucoma.

Wisconsin people are just the best, aren't they? I'm from the Dairy State ;-)

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  11. Glad to hear that you have competed some of your Christmas cards. Hope that you get your Christmas stamp soon.
What a relief that you don't need flood insurance. All insurance is pricey and a rip off, until you actually use it.
Beautiful photos of fall and nature.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  12. I'd be doing the happy dance too. Flood plain insurance, as you pointed out is about three times that of regular insurance. Before the city of Wichita built what they call the "Big Ditch," my house was in the flood plain. Of course, I knew nothing about it until I did some research a few years ago. My neighbor told me it used to flood everywhere in the neighborhood where I live until they did that. Now you would never know, except for the standing water in my back yard at times.

People are always surprised when cats live to be that age, but I know they can live for up to 22 years. I hope Miss Calico does. She's a beauty, and so are your sunflowers and other flowers.

I think I overdid myself yesterday when I rode out to the pumpkin patch and picked 10 gourds. I got overheated and didn't realize it until I got home and showered to cool down. But I saw the most amazing trees that I haven't seen in years and years. Yours are lovely, but the ones I saw were spectacular.

I'm so happy your friends are going to tile your floors. Tiling is NOT fun, especially on floors. They aren't fun on counters where you don't have to be on your knees, so you can be VERY thankful for your friends.

Your drink DOES look good. I think I'll take the ginger beer without the yogurt, though. Thanks for sharing your terrific news and tour ginger beer and yogurt with us for T this Tuesday.

  13. 19 years... that gives me hope still to be with our cat some years more - he´s 12 now. i would have loved to see your cards, but i can understand you only thought of taking a pic when it was too late. happens to me, also;) and it is similar to taking a pic of the emptied plate, because i was too greedy to photograph before eating. haha!!
have a great fall, kathy! happy t-day:)

  16. Great post today Kathy! You sure are busy. And so much good things to look forward to. How sweet of your friends to come early and tile your floors. That will certainly save you a lot of money as tilers are expensive.
I do hope your Christmas stamp arrives in time. But I'm sure you have many others lying about from previous years. (Note to self: always look where the seller is sending from...)
The trees around your house look beautiful even though there is no red in sight. I prefer the 'rusty' colours anyway.
Look at that Calico cat! Lazing in the sun! Isn't he/she great in old age. Our cat is still a youngster at two years old and I hope we can keep him for many years.
I'm glad your hubby has found an eye surgeon he likes. It makes such a difference to have the cataracts done (properly of course).
I am really happy for you about your good news about the flood plain. That is one less worry. It saves you money and stress.
It was fascinating to see those tipi poles. I hope you can sell them.
I'm so glad everything is going well for you and moving on fast. It will be November soon and then the move will be upon you before you know it.
I wish you all the best.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  24. Well, how did I miss this last week? Your Autumn day and color look perfect. I think cats age so well because of all the naps they take. Loved your sunflower. Mine get eaten to the nubbins by the goldfinches. Looks like a very busy season coming up for you with home repairs, hunting, and moving. Take care.
