How has your weather been? We are still having summer with hot and humidity, but over the weekend we have gotten allot of rain-we needed it but now Mother Nature can turn it off any time now ha ha. I have been thinking of our hostess and wondering if she got lots of rain as Kansas was to get quite a bit.
Over the weekend I pulled all the hummingbird feeders, bleached and cleaned them and put them away for next year. I hadn't seen a hummer for a week so decided to take them down. They were here longer than most years. Probably due to the much warmer weather
Friday my husband's sister and her daughter from Chicago area drove down from St Louis Missouri area for the day. She chose St Louis as her base with a friend for several days and then drove to different places from there.
I gave her choices of the Wonders of Wildlife or closer to where I live the Bridal Cave. She chose the cave and we had allot of fun.
I had toured this about 5 years ago with friends that visited us from Pennsylvania but this is always fun to tour again.
But wow what a difference 5 years makes lol I didn't feel that steady on my knees going through narrow and hilly paths. I was grabbing on to my sister in law's hand during all the tough spots. I totally forgot to grab my walking stick. One can Not touch the sides of the cave or we will destroy the growth so it was a bit scarey for me -did not want to fall and I didn't.
We were almost in the 90s Friday so the cave was the perfect choice.

We had a much more informed guide this time which was nice. I learned that in the beginning the only entrance to this cave was by boat-you would dock at the entrance and then climb into the cave.
This is now a huge tourist attraction for the area, open year round and they take advantage of the holidays. There are many weddings here

Thursday we visited the Lake House again that I shared last week.
I really love everything about this house. 200 feet of lake front is unheard of for most of the lake homes, very deep water, all natural shale rock sea wall.
Has an upgraded dock and lifts for two boats. There are 4 extra rooms besides the kitchen (small), bathroom, and very long living space that over looks the water-all glass. I was a bit leary of the basement but the second visit I felt better about it. We discovered the floor area where I want to add a wall of shelving and my "messy craft area" is the shale rock-that's why it is uneven. Very clean and no mold. The steps mostly need more lighting and I will be good with it. There is also a bathroom in this space and level out to the backyard-so that's nice.
I also like the area that this home is located in-much more so than many others we had seen.
It is just a couple miles off the main highway to get there. The driveway to the home is not extreme down hill like most are. Although there are several steps down to get into the front door.
Newer part of the home (this was a small lake cabin originally) has oak floors or tile, the older area is carpeted over concrete.
Grocery shopping is less than half an hour in both directions. Instead of seeing health specialists in Springfield Mo we will look for them in Jefferson City Mo. which is an hour away. (Springfield would be 2 hours plus away at that location)
Soooooo after weighing everything we called up our realtor and we put a bid in yesterday afternoon.
Anddddd we got the call today (Sunday) that we got the Lake House!!!!
Closing December which we were hoping to hold off till January or February-but we can manage.
So we will be scrambling to sell what we can on our own-and start boxing things up. I need to find a source of boxes-that is difficult as most stores here won't give them to you any more.

I fell in love with the views, this space is double what is shown here-I asked the owner-and this view is of the sunsets-can't wait
So of course we are quite excited-especially that the hunt is over.
I got to talk with the owner again-she has lived here 37 years. Her husband passed 3 years ago and her children are urging her to move closer to one of them. One of her daughters is a commercial fiber artist-so we hit it off talking fiber art. For a gift I gave her one of my eco dyed papers-she was very excited about it. She even asked me to sign it.
I told her I was going to miss all of my wildlife and she says Oh No you won't we get deer that bed down in the yard at night, they get foxes, lots of birds, and hummingbirds-sounds perfect!!
Another plus for this rural home-natural gas-wow, and the co op electric co also offers very high speed internet-loving that for sure-never had it before.
So tonight I poured me a glass of celebration wine Peeking in the back is my dough boy napkin holder-yes another collection item of mine ha ha
This wine is really nice-not too dry and not too sweet either.
