I have been enjoying viewing the link ups for Nicole's Faces, so I thought I would share one this week. No I am not an artist that has attempted any sort of faces as of yet-but I do have faces in my craft room from others to share. All of these faces are handmade
I have faces gifted from Barbara
Another lovely face from my friend Debra in New York
These dolls were made for me by my Grandma on my father's side-she was a master seamstress. These dolls are at least 60 years old now
This up coming weekend we will be feeling special. Sunday is our 40th wedding anniversary and Sunday night we have visitors driving down from Wisconsin and also a new friend from Kansas City will be coming down too-but he will be staying at his family's lake house. These three men plan on doing lots of fishing. I will be doing allot of cooking and baking andddd cleaning house haha that starts today.
Happy Friday and weekend everyone
Great faces! I am not ready to join (new stuff, I´m slow! But will hopefully add it on T-Day).

ReplyDelete-Soma
Hi Soma, yes they always have me smiling when I walk by them
DeleteOh my, Kathy, how sweet of you to post pics of the dolls I made. Debra’s doll is perhaps made of clay and the clothing from a vintage fabric lot, I think. The vintage pieces from you Mom and Grandmother are irreplaceable! Enjoy your special anniversary celebration with your friends. I can’t believe how fast the decades have gone for us too.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, I love the dolls you made and sent me-I see them every day when I walk into my craft room. yes 40 years is something- I have been thinking back of all the different things we have done together
DeleteThese are fabulous dolls all of them. Thank you for joining in.
ReplyDeletethank you Nicole

ReplyDeleteThank you Laurie, yes there are many treasures and memories in my craft room. I hope they catch fish too
DeleteThese dolls are lovely Kathy. How sweet to have dolls your grandmother made for you and also some that were both hers and your moms. Those are wonderful connections to the past. You must enjoy having them very much. Don't cook and clean too much, but enjoy your company this weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletethank you so much Erika, I am trying not to over do before our friends arrive

ReplyDeleteCathy
Thank you Cathy, yes a busy week, I gotta run to the store early this morning, and then start cleaning house and want to bake-it is cool this morning
DeleteSeeing the dolls from your grandmother brought back memories of the dolls my grandmother sewed in her later years. She had me to paint faces on them. I wish I had photos of some of those. She gave them away - as she did most of the things she made.
ReplyDeleteHi Gene, what a special memory. my Grandmother made extra money sewing-back then people would repair their clothes-new zippers etc. she had a steady business for that, she also made allot of dolls too
DeleteOH, such a great collection of 'faces' — treasures for sure! My daughter made raggy style dolls for a while and I still have a few.
ReplyDeleteHappy 40th Wedding Anniversary for Sunday! ❤️
Have an amazing weekend with friends/visitors,
Serena x
thank you so much Serena
DeleteHappy 40th!!! Oh I'd love to join the boys fishin'! I used to fish quite often, but my husband stopped fishing years ago when he went vegetarian so I stopped as well, to be supportive, but I have to say I kind of miss it! ☺ The knitted doll is very cute! ☺
ReplyDeletethank you much, my husband loves to be on the lake fishing, his health has prevented it the last few years hoping he can get out more this year.He only eats catfish though-the rest he puts back in the lake I love the knitted doll too-great smile
DeleteKathy you have some real treasures amongst your shared faces, what a lovely collection. I especially love the dolls made by your Grandma beautifully sewn.

ReplyDeletethank you Jo Happy weekend to you as well-hugs
Deletelol. your beauties put a nice smile on my face. Love to see them. The last one, the angel seem to be a very old one. Reminded me of some my mother had long ago.
ReplyDeleteYes the angel is very old
DeleteI loved all the beautiful doll faces, Kathy! And the sweet little Scottie-like dog. You made me stop and remember that I'm a lot older than I feel. I made those Raggedy Ann dolls (maybe from the same pattern!) in in 1965-66 in Home Economics when I was 15 or 16. Yikes! My fabric colors were different, because I lived in rural Nova Scotia and had access only to what was in our little general store. I still have them. Thanks for the memories, and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, what a wonderful memory! So glad you stopped by for a visit and shared. These dolls were probably made in the late '50s or early 60's. I was born in 1949 and probably got these as a young 12 year old or a bit older. I was one of the few grandkids that was gifted these. I remember I had a cousin that was jealous lol I think my Grandma made many of these to sell
