T Stands for Tuesday & Packing Craft Room Begins & & Happy New Year 2019

Wow our last T party for 2018 is here, and a brand new year is soon to be upon us.
I find it amazing just how fast this year has gone by for me, and new adventures await us.

T Stands for Tuesday is where we gather together and share a drink related post.
I want to thank Elizabeth for hosting and bringing blogging back to my world-thank you everyone in the T Party-you all mean allot to me-hugs.
Find the link to the T Party in my right hand column hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth-you are most welcome to join us.

My creative muse has been with me for a bit. I couldn't sleep last night so I worked on my June journal pages. I was getting tired and when I looked at the clock it was 2 am in the morning-Wow-time to get to bed for some sleep lol.  This morning and also through out the day I finished my page-I am quite happy with it.
I will do a post tomorrow with photos of my June fabric journal page.

We went up to the lake house on Sunday, so the day before I started on those 8 foot long shelves-with books, fabrics, and batting for quilts.
My boxes were mostly too large or too small for heavy books. I packed them any way and got them in the car-and then just carried armloads full down the stairs into the house-I am not crazy about the driveway to the house or the steps into the house-but it was a compromise as many lake houses have steep steps down to the lake and into the house. Something new to adjust to. and good exercise lol

This is one section of bags of mostly quilting fabrics, my reclaimed silks and linens, laces, and a bag of rug hooking supplies-most of this I didn't take yet.

I did get packed most of these two shelves. To the right a stack I am not keeping, and the second shelf needs packed.

This bottom shelf is mostly weaving, spinning, and rug hooking books. and on the floor to the left is weaving materials etc, and lots of things in those little drawers-stamps, inks and more.  This will get packed up next.
On the very top shelf-not shown -is lots of quilt batting-some wool some cotton.

I bought some shelving that came in on Saturday-which will fit into my closet opposite those deep steps. Will see how many books I can get on that-may just stack them up two deep.

Do you do anything special for New Year's Eve?
Some years I make us special foods this year I didn't. I did decide to make up a fresh cranberry-blueberry pie tonight-baked in a ground cashew nut crust-anxious to see how this turned out, it just came out of the oven. I don't usually do a nut crust for a fruit pie. I sprinkled the top with sugar free fine coconut

My husband and I don't do crowds so we have never gone out to a party for New Year's Eve.
Hubs just goes to bed early lol but I like to stay up and watch the tv. Remember Dick Clark? His show was the best.

I did find some bubbly in my pantry-I bought it last year and we never opened it.
I may pour me a glass tonight or save it for breakfast tomorrow morning.

Happy T and Happy Happy New Year!!!!

  1. I’m with you, Kathy, no crowds. I grew up with NYC only 15 miles away, but never went to Times Square on New Year’s Eve. I went there many times for other things, but never for the new year. Going to bed early suits me fine now, no matter the night. Hope 2019 is a good year for you both in your new home!

  2. Wow, you are on your way. I don't envy you having to pack a home up like that. I am not sure I ever want to move again.

You are watching Dick Clark and I have been watching (or rather listening to) a day long series on 1968 and all the turmoil from it that still resonates today. It's on C-span and I've never even watched this channel before. No commercials and I love that! No ads, no nothing, just back to back to back show after show after show.

I'll join you in a glass of that bubbly, but I won't really drink any. I'll have my coffee, instead. How great that you are finding all these wonderful drinks in your pantry. Thanks for sharing your moving and your champagne with us for T this almost Tuesday. Happy, happy new year, dear.

  5. We don't go out either and go to bed at the usual time then get woken up by firewaorks at midnight quite often. Last night there were hardly any where we live so maybe more people are going to be before midnight.

    Have a great 2019 and a beautiful T Day

    Love Chrissie xx

  6. We spend New Year quietly as well Kathy, with our two sons and a family meal.
You have a big task removing your craft room to its new home, I think you may find things that you have forgotten you had, I know I would.
    Your blueberry pie looks delicious.
Happy T day Kathy and I wish you and yours a very happy and healthy New Year.

  7. Nothing like starting out the New Year cleaning and organizing. How exciting to be working on getting your new craft room ready. We don't do parties at NYE either. A quiet night usually watching 3 Stooges marathon. This year, Himself was bingeing Doctor Who. We Skype with the Eldest when she got home from the hospital and toasted the New Year with home-made eggnog. Your Asti Spumonti sparkling wine made me smile. That was the wine my dad would get for New Year's and special occasions. Here's to a creative New Year! Salut!

  9. Happy New year Kathy. And happy T day too. I spent my new years watching tv but I have to admit I fell asleep about 11:30 and missed the start of the new year. Oh well. I've done parties in the past but now I am just as happy being home. Congrats on starting the packing. I would think it would be a good way to clean out, but on the other hand knowing you need to unpack it all might be motivation enough to get ride of a few things. The move will be a big excitement for 2019! Hope it's a great T dy and start to the new year. Hugs-Erika

    1. Hi Erika, well you made it up later than I did-I think I was really tired. I probably will not purge too many things in my craft room-I love it all as bounce around from sewing, quilting, weaving, and more lol
      Happy T

  10. Packing up a craft room is a daunting task, Kathy. You seem to be well on your way. I bet you can hardly wait to be settled in at the lake house. It's so beautiful! Despite the steps. I wonder if you could redo the steps with switchbacks and landings to make them less treacherous.

I bet the nut crust with a fruit pie is delicious. New Year's Eve, Chris always makes a special dinner. Last night, he seared marinated tuna steaks. We had champagne and then homemade Christmas cookies for dessert.

Happy T-day and a very Happy New Year! Hugs, Eileen

    1. Yes my craft room is a very daunting task-as I have so many interests.
Yes Hubs can not do steps like this every day-so he has a plan to turn an area into a ramp to drive a golf cart or something down to the house from the driveway.
the pie was super good and the nut crust was perfect with this pie. Your dinners sounds wonderful-I love eating all kinds of fish. Happy T hugs

  11. Packing can be a trial, can't it. It looks like you're moving right on along, though, and I know you'll be settled in with everything arranged just like you want it. Our bedroom is upstairs here, and you're right about stairs being good exercise. It makes a difference :) I'm thinking I'd like fruit pie and bubbly for breakfast this morning. Happy T Tuesday! And Happy New Year! Your new year will hold much that's new for you. How exciting! :)

  14. You are moving right along with the packing. I get tired just thinking abut it :(
Mom and Bob and I just watched old TV shows on the Western Channel last night. We are real exciting people :) I usually try to work on art on New Years Eve and Day, but I didn't bring any art supplies with me :(

  15. The new year usually arrives at our house while all are sleeping. LOL! We do celebrate a bit on New Years Day - just having a few friends stop by. At our stage in life lots of friends are "singles" and enjoy having somewhere to visit. Have a wonderful 2019 and don't wear yourself out with that packing.

  16. I think you are doing what my cousin is doing: every trip to the new house, she takes as many boxes as possible. It's so exciting to be organising a new craft space and storage area.
Here in Holland we have all these fire works so ne need to watch tv. Much more spectacle outside.
Wishing you a happy T Day and a healthy and peaceful 2019,

  17. Wonderful to get things together to move to your Lake House, it sounds like you will be packed in no time 😀. Your pie looks so delicious and a glass of bubbly is perfect to welcome in the New Year too - cheers! We went to friends last night and my sister came over to ours today; we had a wonderful time walking on the beach, having a drink at our local pub and then coming home for a yummy New Year's Day meal 😁. I baked a ham and served it with bubble and squeak (mash potatoes and veg pattie), homemade stuffing, cranberry sauce, apple sauce and gravy - so yummy! We had such a great start to the year! Happy T Day and wishing you a Happy New Year filled with peace, love and happiness! J 😊 x

  20. I don't envy you having to pack everything up, but you will be happy when you are cozy in your new home! New Year's Eve did not include a party for us either. But we did go to a movie and have dinner at a steak house. That's about enough excitement for us, lol! We did enjoy the movie 'Bumblebee,' it brought back memories of our son watching the Transformer cartoons when he was little. Have a Happy New Year!

Belated Happy T day(i think I said that another post already...see what i mean!!!??? Hugs, Chrisx
