T Stands for Tuesday

  Hello everyone,

Those of you in the States that celebrate Memorial Day-How was your weekend? We do not over celebrate this holiday, but remember the fallen. My husband fought in the Viet Nam war and lost comrades, so it is a weekend to reflect-I think many that fought in wars would feel the same. Although here in the States this the weekend to open up summer for many especially homes on water.

I didn't make anything special this weekend although I did bake us up peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies. I mostly had to be careful as my lower back is still giving me pain-If I was back in Illinois before retirement in '03 I would know who to visit for help-here not so much.

Many of you here on T enjoy gardening and/or visiting gardens. Are you familiar with the online site Dave's Garden?  I have visited them on and off over the years and this year decided to sign up for their newsletter. I wanted to share a couple interesting articles.

This first one Legends and Lore Concerning the butterfly  is a very interesting read so wanted to share it with you. The article talks about cave paintings with butterflies, Native American lore and more. Also attracting the butterflies to your gardens

             Photos from this article

The Hummingbirds Journey
If you enjoy the hummingbird or want to learn more I enjoyed this article too

This newsletter also had an article  Predatory Bugs Good Guys in the Garden This one talked about many I was not familiar with

For my drink share this week-I enjoyed a cup of decaf black tea-which I just recently purchased since I didn't have any in my tea stash

and if interested please visit my last post with a video of the lake sounds and close up hummingbirds, and a little art as well.

This coming Wednesday will be the first Wednesday of June for Food Wednesdays. We would love it if you joined in or visited the link ups for great food posts. Over the summer we will be posting once a month on the first Wednesday of each month. Hoping you drop by for a visit.

Happy T

  3. Memorial Day holds mixed emotions for me. It's the unofficial start of Summer (and thus barbecues, etc.) but it is also a day of sadness. - Anne (Cornucopia)

  4. Hi Kathy, baking cookies sounds like amazing comfort food to me. My hubs is allergic to peanut butter so I haven't baked pb cookies in years, and now I'm craving some lol! I won't have any foodie stuff on my blog post this week and I don't know how long the free Mr Linky is open, but I hope I can join in with my June 9th post! ♥

  6. Im sorry to hear your back is troubling you, it’s a miserable thing a sore back. Your photos are lovely, I hope you and your husband have a good day, how ever you choose to celebrate it. We can see the fire works for Memorial Day across the water, we live in a border town, America is just two minutes away. We will think of the sacrifice of these brave men including your husband on this day.

    1. That's fun I always enjoyed fireworks-there is a professional that does it at his lake home right across the lake from me so I have a front row seat when he does it.

  7. Happy T day Kathy. Thanks for the link ups. I haven't heard of Dave's Garden and the butterfly article was very interesting. The beauty of gardening is that there is always so much to learn. And try too. That Dave's Garden site seems like it has a lot to offer. I hope you have a fantastic T day . Hugs-Erika

  9. I’m sorry to hear that you still have a bad back. I hope it gets better soon. Just take it easy.
Thanks for the interesting info from Dave’s Garden.
Peanut butter cookies sound nice. I have never had them. I’ve seen recipes but it’s not easy to find peanut butter here. Sometimes our local supermarket does an American week and then I buy a pot. But that is about once a year. My mum had peanut butter soup the other day. Here cleaner made it for her and she loved it.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

    1. wow a peanut butter soup sounds interesting, and here in the states we take peanut butter for granted as it's been a staple for years. Many different brands here-I always buy an all natural peanut butter with no additives just peanuts.

  10. Thanks for the garden links. I'm having a cup of black tea, too, not decaf. 😊My dad used to swear by a salve called Tiger Balm. You can find it at CVS and I think at Walmart. Hope you're back feels better. Happy T Day

    1. Thank you we had the best team that helped both of us when we lived in Northern Illinois before retirement. the wife was a medical doctor turned chiropractor and her husband was a massage therapist. she also learned accupuncture too.
Daves is a great site for garden information.

  12. I enjoyed reading about the butterflies. I plant extra dill every year so the swallowtail caterpillars can chow down on them. I ordered 50 preying mantises one year and most of them died before they could do much good. I saw a lady bug the other day and was overjoyed.

Your mug is beautiful. I will have a mug of black tea, but I need all the caffeine, my drug of choice, I can get. Thanks for sharing these links with us and your tea for T this Tuesday, dear Kathy.

Sorry I can't join you fr Food Wednesday this month. I have to introduce a new host at AJJ. Erika, Valerie, and Chris will be doing so, too.

    1. thanks for reminding me-I bought fennel and dill for the caterpillars so need to get that planted. I love preying mantisses so fun to watch them we had them at woods house, bummer you lost yours. I have not had a mug of black tea in a long time so this was good. I discovered on my own that caffeine raises my blood pressure very high and fast so I have to watch that. My husband is like you drinks a whole pot of caffeine in the morning.
will see you next month for food wednesdays-hugs
