Since it has been very stormy early morning and then mostly continuing to rain all day, I decided to play in my craft room.
I worked on a duckling in the watercolor-ink instruction book I have been using-and well it was a big failure. I forget allot of times that the ink and the watercolor paints must completely dry before I can continue to paint around them or on them-so one area was just a disaster so I tossed it and will try again.
I looked through my stash of magazine page clippings and created a page in my journal book for AJJ's theme this month of birds.
My cut outs came from a stamping magazine, and the boy fishing was a painting in a vintage Ideals magazine-so I cut out the credits and attached to the above book page. The background is a water scene from another magazine I am still working in the German cookbook for my journal pages.
This page reminded me of a late spring warm day enjoying the water-and listening to the birds sing.
There is a little bird in the clock and then the two birds in the right corner. sorry for the glares-these were the best photos after numerous tries.
This is a great journal page, so representative of your life there on the lake with birds all around. The clock is my favorite feature, perhaps reminding the young fisherman of the time he must go home. You know how quickly time can slip away when you are fishing.
ReplyDeletethank you Mary, I love your interpretation of the clock-perfect for this page-
DeleteNice collage, acrylic paints are very forgiving I find.
ReplyDeletethank you, I need to try the acrylic paints again-I bought paints a couple years ago to try out painting-the acrylic paints were a bit bold looking for me, but they dry really fast too which is nice
DeleteThat's a lovely journal page. It has been very stormy over here too and lots of trees fell off...and some 50 people got injured. Good it's over today.
ReplyDeletethank you Oh that sounds like a tornado hit those storms are scary
DeleteBeautiful journal page, love it. Thanks for linking to AJJ, much appreciated. Stay safe, hope the weather improves! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGood morning Valerie, thank you so much
DeleteThis is a great page Kathy. I like how you used water as your background. The water gives the whole page motion as if it has motion. And you found some fun images too. WE're all fogged in this morning due to humidity. Hope your weather improves too. Thanks for sharing this page for Matilde's challenge at AJJ. hugs-Erika

DeleteThe wet on wet isn't easy to learn. Failure is also experience. :)
ReplyDeletethank you we all need to go through failures in order to suceed
DeleteKathy I really like this. For me I like wet on wet, I can blend better. Remember that every art piece made is a new skill learned. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeletethank you I haven't tried wet on wet watercolor yet-I need to do that.
DeleteAnother great journal page, Kathy. I especially like the clock and the boy fishing. But of course, the birds were perfect, too. Thanks for sharing another great entry with us at Art Journal Journey using Matilde's theme.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous page Kathy and super bird images you used. I hope all the storms have padded over.
