Hello everyone,
I had shared that I bought a big box of letters and numbers stamps.
After using them I think these were glued on to the wood by whom ever bought them and now after using them a couple of times the rubber stamp is coming off. sigh
I am using stazon stamp cleaner to clean the stamp afterwards. I have used stamps in the past and have never run into this before.
So my question is what type of glue would you recommend to glue these back on? There is also a set that has not been glued together yet. I will be using these letters allot so need them to stay on haha
Thanks in advance!
You might want to try Glue This to That. You put in what you want to glue and a suggestion for the type of glue you need is made: http://www.thistothat.com/
ReplyDeleteI've read that rubber cement is the best, but I honestly haven't used it. I just use a bit of my craft glue and it seems to work. Not white glue but Glossy Accents and it always seems to work just fine. You can also order sticky foam pieces that stick to both your stamp and the wood. You stick the stamp on the foam, cut it out so it it the right shape, and then stick it onto the wood. They are called EZ mount foam sheets. Hope that helps Kathy.
ReplyDeleteKathy for the stamps that haven't been glued yet especially you might try using Aileens Tack it Over and Over and just use a clear acrylic block when you want to stamp just like a cling stamp that way you can see what you are doing thru the clear block.. Lots of choices out there i think.. I haven't run into your problem but i have heard other talk of it.. Some people take their rubber stamps completely off the wood block because they prefer it that way and then do what i menioned.. I hope you'll let us know how it goes.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThe stamps you purchased are by Stampin' Up and other than the foam ones should not have come away from the wood. The sticky glue that is on the back of the foam part of the stamp should have stayed.
ReplyDelete1. Contact the seller and ask how they were assembled. Explain your dilemma.
2. I suggest using E 6000. I've heard Gorilla Glue is equally good, but never tried it. Use something that is definitely waterproof.
The sheets Erika suggests are already on your rubber. The sandwich is rubber, foam mounting, and wood.
You might consider not gluing them back down, and using them with clear acrylic blocks instead. Most of the old style stamps on wood can be successfully used this way.
ReplyDeleteI don't have anything to add to the very helpful suggestions you got, Kathy, but please do let us know how you solved this.
ReplyDeleteI would try double sided adhesive tape - maybe that's already at home?
ReplyDeleteI've used the E6000 to re-glue stamps and it worked great. Good luck!!!
