Hi Everyone, T Stands for Tuesday where we share a drink in our post, and visit with friends. Link in my sidebar hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.
This was the first weekend in a long time where Friday-Saturday-Sunday were all perfect sunny days to be on the lake. Lots of activities were scheduled on Lake in the Ozarks as well-speed boat races (that were televised nationwide) Harley motorcycle event, Jacobs cave-near us down the road-swap meet with over 900 venders-and the list goes on. Lots of restaurants, bars etc opened up on the lake this weekend as well.
This long weekend we got to see many many boats go flying by as the boat races were down a bit to the right of us-and other events going on to the left of us. This weekend was much busier then Memorial weekend as the temperatures were perfect. Of course we stay off the lake and off the roads during busy times like this. I call it entertainment looking out our wall of windows or sitting on the deck.
We have been enjoying breakfast on the deck early in the morning. Here is my gluten free oatmeal with dried blueberries, blueberry blossom honey and a little cashew milk, along with my decaf coffee & cream (my new spluge these days is cream in my coffee-smiles)
and we had diamonds on the lake (per Eileen-- I always think of her now when I see this view of the sun on the water)
One huge improvement over the weekend, was to our right there is a cove where boats had come flying out of there-the lake home owners got approval for those no wake buoys to put up-before, in the cove, and going out of the cove-which has really helped to slow things down on that side. Our buoy is helping a bit-although many boaters ignore and still go flying by right behind our dock-ignoring our no wake buoy.
I grabbed the camera and took photos of different boats over the weekend-I missed allot of the speed boats though.
These next photos I took of the speed boat race on the tv Allot of activities for the participants and spectators happened all three days do to this race
We have discovered we have more than one species of heron here on the lake-we saw this larger one Saturday afternoon-fishing in all the caos haha
and Saturday was our 39th wedding anniversary
I brought out the good china, handmade pottery wine goblets, and made Larry's favorite bbq baby back ribs. I sauteed red sweet peppers and fresh portobello mushrooms in avocado oil and then splashed with pomegrante balsamic vinegar. Made us fresh salads with creamy raspberry poppy seed dressing, and steamed yellow wax beans.
For dessert later I scooped out dishes of my churned keto vanilla ice cream-this batch turned out really creamy-sorry forgot photos.
Saturday morning I started on the 4th kitchen towel-I am weaving each of the 6 towels a little different. This one has that darker blue for the two borders on each end of the towel-and the body will be the lighter blue. (the brown showing on the bottom is the border for towel 3
Thanks for sticking with me on this long post. Happy T and new week
Sounds like a fun and busy weekend with good food and lots to see and enjoy. Happy anniversary! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post! And yay for a sunny weekend! Perfect for your anniversary celebration! Of course there would be the best food ever. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary yes sunshine for three days was really nice for sure-hopefully your hay will dry for you too
DeleteAnd, want to add how much I love that fourth towel and the wine goblets. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeletethank you I love these wine goblets too-bought them back in the '70's or '80s from a local potterer
DeleteHappy Anniversary, and many more to come!
ReplyDeleteHappy early T day Kathy. And happy anniversary too. Your special meal looks delicious. And hurrah for no wake buoys. You would think that there would have been some there to save the shoreline from wake erosion. But good you got them, and get to watch so many boats go by. Have a great start to your week. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI would think so too-but one needs to apply for the buoys, have to buy the buoys and pay for a permit-get approved etc.
DeleteHappy T
Kathy, I enjoyed this long post.
ReplyDeleteI never drink decaf coffee! I have my coffee black but no decaf.
Diamonds on the lake, eh? Now I see them. Eileen was so right!
It must have been a very interesting long weekend with all these boats in the lake. And by the way, when I come to US, first I will have a coffee on your balcony and after that I will take the boat taxi to go to a bar and/or restaurant. Ha ha! I wish I could do it, but you never know.
I love herons and all the birds!
And, last, HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Anniversary, my dear friend. Kisses!
I would love to have you over for coffee on the deck some day.-smiles
DeleteThis was a very busy weekend because of the boat races-draws in allot of people to watchthem.
I love all of the birds we are seeing here too. thank you so much-hugs
Wonderful posting!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYour meal and the lake look gorgeous. What fun it must be to have boats going by. The heron is probably looking to stay out of their way.
thank you so much. It is fun to see all the different boats-I had no idea there are so many different ones
DeleteYou must have the patience of a saint, Kathy. Such a busy lake! I could never deal with all that boating activity!! I much prefer "quiet water" so to speak...an occasional canoe or kayak but nothing with motors for me. The meal you prepared looks great!!...jp
ReplyDeleteThis side of the lake is just beginning to get more traffic on it-the good thing is the busiest days in the summer are Memorial Day weekend, and 4th of July. also late fridays and saturdays are busiest during the summer weekends-
Deletemostly peaceful the rest of the time--I had no idea about this much boat traffic though.
bbq ribs are my husbands favorite so I make it for our anniversary
I really enjoyed seeing all the boats on the lake. It's been forever since I've been on Lake of the Ozarks and this brought back many memories for me. There were a LOT of boats and I'm sorry I missed it on TV. LOVED seeing the heron on your neighbor's dock. How special to notice.
ReplyDeleteI bet it is fun to sit out on your deck early mornings and enjoy your breakfast and coffee. I tried using whipping cream and am not fond of it in coffee. Maybe I didn't whip mine long enough or something.
That new towel is going to be fabulous. I like the different colors.
Looks like you had a delicious anniversary. Your food looked so good and your goblets filled with win are beautiful. Thanks for sharing these with us for T this week. And of course, happy, happy 39th, too, dear.
we are really enjoying watching all the different boats on the lake. and early mornings the birds are out-hummingbirds, orchard oriole, woodpeckers and many more.
DeleteI cheat and use a quality whipped cream in the can.
thank you I am enjoying this towel project.
Thank you so much Eliabeth-hugs
So many boats-wow!! I mean, I do love seeing them but this may be a bit much- and some a bit risky too. I love your sweet remembrance of Eileen XO Beautiful weaving!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a lovely anniversary meal- congrats and here's to many more years to celebrate. Happy T day!
Yes this was a big event on the lake this weekend-boat races and many other activities so very very busy saturday for sure.
Deletethanks so much
thank you so much Laurie.
ReplyDeleteJust like having to watch out for bad drives on the road same goes for on the lake. Larry never takes the boat out on weekends-especially saturdays and we stay home off the roads too on the weekends in the summer time
It is still pretty quiet and laid back during the week-I am enjoying this towel project-thank you
Oh.... we sold our Moped (Harley) years ago, I sure miss her.
ReplyDeleteSitting on the deck sounds sooooo good!
Oh. The old banana. Need to make a shake for Breakfast!
And the diamonds, so beautiful.
LOVE the guy, fishing and just having a good time in all the hectic!
Could be my Brother!
Crazy "races". I once was asked to steer a boat. I went so slow my "mate" got nervous, LOL.
The heron, cute.
Happy belated anniversary!!!!
"Baby back ribs"!!! LOL! We had lamb in the canteen and I said, "ohhh, baby-sheep, yum!" The men laughed. The secretary never talked to me again - no kidding.
Your meal looks more yummy, too!
But... Fish-Eye. ... ?!
Beautiful pattern, and a Happy T-Day to you, Kathy.
ah lamb sounds delicious I like lamb too but it is very expensive here so I don't buy it very often. I know Fish Eye was such a funny name-and on sale too was really good Larry still has old Harley one he built from pieces-needs to get here to the lake hugs
DeleteHappy T-Day, Kathy. Your lake pictures are super fun - really like the heron. Happy Anniversary too - wonderful looking dinner and I love Fish Eye Merlot! Your weaving looks great - you are so talented. Fab post. Hugz
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, we enjoy seeing the blue herons. this is my first bottle of Fish Eye-they were on sale nearby so picked up several wines from Fish Eye-I really enjoyed this one hugs
DeleteA sure way to disturb the peace and tranquillity of the lake is to have all those boats screaming up and down. I can't imagine what effect it has on wildlife.
ReplyDeleteand the shoreline as well-however this is manmade lake built for the purpose to control flooding and to make electricity.
Deleteback in the beginning this was always a fishing and family lake but sadly money has come into play so now we have all this going on. mostly on holiday weekends in the summers and the busiest craziest day is usually just saturday.
we do have lots of wildlife here with many wooded areas near the lake, and an abundance of birds and water foul and eagles and other birds of prey
Breakfast (or any time on your deck) is perfect and a ringside seat to all the activities is a bonus. Lovely views, too. Happy Anniversary! 🥂💐 Happy T Day
ReplyDeletewe have been enjoying our deck allot thank you
DeleteKathy, I love it when we have diamonds on the water in our pool, your lake photos with the boats are great to see, your meal sounds tasty, my husband love ribs but I’m not too keen, I like the taste but I’m not keen on picky food as I call them, same with chicken legs. Great work on the tea towels, how lovely to make your own.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day
Jan
wow! What a lot of boats! You had an exciting weekend with all the comings and goings.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! Your meal looks really yummy. As does the Merlot.
Great picture of the heron.
Oh my! Your tea towel is beautiful! Well done you!

Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Hi Lisca, I am so happy you enjoyed it
DeleteThe view from your deck is gorgeous! whether it's peaceful bird sounds or loud, rambunctious boat people you have a front row seat :) The boat taxi is a great idea. Ribs, yummm. Happy Anniversary! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeletethank you we are enjoying the entertainment over the deck or indoors through the wall of windows-so fun and we do not have to be in the mix of things Happy T
DeleteIt does look like a particularly busy time on the lake - interesting watching though! I would love to eat an early morning breakfast on your decking! The Herons look great, haven't seen the one by the river for ages! Happy Anniversary - your celebration meal look delicious, although it would be a pork chop for me! Have good week, Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeletethank you Chris, we do enjoy seeing the herons, and we saw the eagle today too pork chops are delicious grilled too Happy T
DeleteGlad you had sun all weekend. Great looking breakfast. yes, there are lots of boats on your lake.
ReplyDeleteyes on saturdays in the summer especially
DeleteFabulous post! I love the tranquility of the lake in the mornings when you have your breakfast and then how it transforms into a hive of activity with all those boats and people enjoying the water 😁. Your meals look delicious and I'd love to join you for a glass of wine - cheers and happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, that is what we love too-peaceful most of the time especially in early mornings and then entertainment on the water. cheers-this was a good tasting wine hugs
DeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteSome beautiful scenes from the lake. I love that the heron feels comfortable enough to visit the neighbors.
Happy Anniversary! Your dinner looks delicious and I especially like those pottery wine glasses. Very classy.
Your towel is SO beautiful. And So much work put into this that I imagine it must be difficult to use them and get them dirty.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Hi Kate, ya know the first towel I had to cut off because I had tension problems and had to retie front and back-I washed it put it in the kitchen to use-and it's at the bottom of a few old towels haha-but I am weaving these to use, so once they are all finished they will be out to use and the old towels will go into the bag of rags
DeleteSuch a lovely post, I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteMy good wishes and congratulations on your 39th wedding anniversary.
All the best Jan
Thank you so much Jan, I am happy you enjoyed all the photos
DeleteWhat a nice post-and my, you are one good cook!!!! I LVE that wine goblet and your other pottery dishes. Your lake is very busy-I hope you have some quiet time too. Happy Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra-yes usually the busiest day of the week is Saturday so not so bad. the mornings especially and early evenings are very peaceful.
DeleteThank you so much for your slow mail-loved it-hugs
Happy Anniversary Kathy! 39 years ...impressive! Fabulous scenes of your lake and such a busy time on it! It must be getting warm there now I expect.I do like the expression to depict the sun on the water"diamonds on the lake" beautiful! Lovely you get lots of wild life too but I cant see the heron in the second photo!*! Enjoy Amanda x
ReplyDeletethanks much-yes now it is very warm up to 90 degrees f
Deletefor the heron find the sled and to the left and in front you will just see his beak between two poles and then a bit of his body will come into view
