Cast Iron Saturdays-Hot Days

Hi everyone, we have been very warm and humid this week and for the weekend hot, humid and in the 90's f   I never cared for this type of heat-thank goodness for air conditioning I am always so thankful for that.

End of the week brings us to my cast iron post of recipes-enjoy

When it's this hot-perfect time to cook-bake outdoors on your grills, fire pits, and of course cast iron.

Fire Roasted Trout

Grilled Portobello Burgers

Grilled Smashed Potatoes

Cast iron vegetable stir fry

Grilled Peaches with Ricotta

And here is a cocktail while you are cooking over your fire-The Rusty Iron. This is an interesting article to read too

Happy Friday and Weekend

  1. More creative cooking! Outside is the best way to cook in hot, humid weather, but it keeps you out there instead of in your air conditioning. Can’t win, but the food you cook is surely so worth it!

  2. More yummy food Kathy. Our heat broke and now it is plain cold. Only in the 50's today. I had to shut the windows, which I just was open to open yesterday. And you are right, thank goodness for AC. Have a hgreat weekend. Hugs-Erika

  3. I did enjoy Rusty Iron's article. I would enjoy the smashed potatoes and stir fry right now...getting that time of day when lunch is wearing off. I hope you have a great weekend. It has been hot and humid here as well; not my favorite kind of weather for sure.

    1. I thought those dishes sounded good too. we had a wicked storm come through that took the roof and sides off of one of the bird houses-sad for the bird families.
now its a bit cooler though--our friends from Wisconsin drove down to spend the weekend with us

  4. Air conditioning, funny you, we only need heating.
(OK, last year Ingo got a ventilator).

Oh, boy. Ingo makes fish with lemons like that, too!
My Mum gave us "mini-grills" for that. She comes from the coast, but I´m not a fish-person... She "forced" me to that this way ;-)

    Burger, YES!

Oh,I wish... cloudy and cool again over here... Summer took a break! Yesterday was hot and sunny, though :-)

  7. I've grilled portobello mushrooms on my smoker/grill, but never in cast iron. I've also done that with peaches, as well as halved tomatoes, too. Some of these recipes look SO good. I'm ready to either use my chiminea or my smoker/grill very soon and try a few of these veggie recipes. Thanks for these, even though I know you shared them as cast iron recipes. Thankfully, some can be adapted to my grill.

Like you, I am so thankful for AC. I have mine on most of the time lately!!
