Sunrise this morning
about 5 minutes later
Just a little update-yesterday was super stressful for me, allot of it from the situation but also from not sleeping and not feeling great from allergies for awhile now.
We made the decision to get Larry to the hospital for x rays yesterday. I called 911 for a transport and they arrived in less than 10 minutes. I was grabbing my keys to follow when she told me no one allowed in the hospital except patients
This is the first we had used this hospital. This doesn't have the best reviews, but its the closest (45 minutes) and Larry was happy with the care.
We need to find a new general doctor too that is closer than an hour and a half away since our doctor we have used for 20 years may not return do to back problems. I did locate one near by. So will follow up next week for me first to see if I like the doctor or not.
The good news is no internal bleeding which was a concern but he has several fractures in small circular bones in the pelvic area Slow healing but no surgery needed-which I am sooooo thankful for. They did an mri instead of x ray.
They would not transport him home, but instead showed him how to use crutches to get down the steps with help. Not sure if that was the best idea.
Since one had to have a cell phone to communicate with the hospital (don't use one) to pick him up, I called our friends and they picked him up and helped him down the steps-and then we chatted for awhile-with masks on. It was good to see and talk with our good friends again.
The doctor said there was nothing to be done for the healing, but they are working on getting us set up with rehab in the home. The problem with that is we are between family doctors at the moment. I did also get a call this morning from a specialist wanting to see him-I am thinking why? since there isn't anything they can do and would be too painful and a long day for him
Yesterday was a long day with the mri and waiting around so by the time he got home he was in the worse pain that he has had since the accident.
Always good to be back home again for sure.
I need to get myself inspired again to accomplish something-I have been spinning some pretty wool this week and reading plus I made a mask for Larry so he would have one yesterday.
I shutdown my computer for awhile yesterday in hopes that an upgrade would download to fix the photo issue. I haven't been able to download my photos off the camera--and this morning I was able to download these two photos-so hopefully will stay that way haha
Happy weekend everyone
First Off, Incredible Photos - Second Of All, I Wish I Lived Near By - Larry Would Be My Top Priority - Sure Am Glad The Doctor Feeds You Full Of "NOTHING WE CAN DO" Attitude - Thats Always Reassuring - No Disrespect To Any Of Your Medical Readers - But Come - Stay Strong
ReplyDeleteSending Love & Light,
Cheers
Thank you-I know what ya mean when they say nothing can be done (??)-but this will be better for him than if he needed an operation right now, he just recently was finally feeling better from his valve replacement surgery last September This blows a couple summer months when he could be fishing. but we will stay postive
DeleteYou got great photos of the mysterious fog over the water.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the pelvic fractures :( Mother went through that twice and recovery was steady. I'm glad he got to come home so quickly. I hope you find a doctor close to you. It sounds like the hospital is using good safety measures.
I trust he'll see steady improvement with no complications.
Good morning, thank you much-he has severe arthritis along with diabitis so this will be so healing process-bad timing to happen now since finally getting to warmer weather
Deletethis will be a slow healing process
DeleteOh dear-so sorry about all of this for you and your hubby....please take care, and know I'm thinking of you and praying for you both.
ReplyDeleteGlad your husband is getting some help and support. The photos are beautiful. Look after yourself, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletethank you Valerie
DeleteOh Kathy, it sounds like such a stressful day. No wonder why you couldn't sleep very well. I hope your husband is OK. I can't visit my mother in the hospital as this covid19 has everything closed to people who are not patients. It is hard, isn't it? Beautiful photos of the lake this morning. Take care of yourself, sounds like you will need to be the caregiver so stay well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHi Erika, I am feeling better today now that we know what is going on, prayers for your Mother Hugs Kathy
DeleteHow stressful for both of you. Thankfully he won't need surgery. And I think I would rather recover at home sitting on your deck and watching those beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, I so agree CJ being at home and here on the lake is so much better than being stuck in a hospital with covid a possible threat
DeleteSending Larry healing thoughts and sending you peace as well. For the camera, so you have a SD card? I dunno if you do but If there's an SD slot, that might be easier. I use mine all the time to transfer videos and stills. Anyway, wishing you both well.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for now the camera is uploading-the problem has been the upgrades of windows recently has messed with our digital cameras

DeleteYou sure got me awww-ing with your pics, thank you :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, but. Frightening, but you are right. If I have to call ambulance for hubby I´d likely have to stay home, too, that is awfully frightening!
Now that is a mix of bad-good news, is it.
Fingers crossed the pain will soon go away or get less at least.
A happy weekend to you. Hugs!
thanks so much Iris-hugs
DeleteI am so glad he didn't have any additional injuries, and that surgery wasn't needed. I hope they gave him something for the pain. Praying that his recovery goes well. Take care of yourself too, I hope you can get some sleep.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, what a day. An MRI is more definitive than an x-ray so surely they know the whole story. Thankfully no surgery. A lot of bones will heal without it. It may take awhile for complete mobility, but rehab in your home is important. I wouldn’t totally discount the value of a specialist’s input. Regardless of no surgery, it could offer something valuable. The lake photos are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI apologize for not visiting sooner. I was awakened Friday by such a loud noise, it shook my entire house. It also knocked my electricity out for over 20 hours. Then I couldn't get on the internet, but AT&T was FINALLY able to reset my internet from their facility (for a change).
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read about Larry and the hospital visit. At least it was a short stay and he is back home where you can take care of him. This may have been a blessing in disguise. You have told him on countless occasions he needs to slow down and now maybe this has put the fear of God in him and he will be FORCED to slow down for awhile while he recuperates. Stay safe, stay strong, because you have to be the caregiver until you can get some PT or rehab help. Take care, dear.
no apologies needed at all we had really bad storms yesterday (sunday) most of the day with very strong winds-couldn't believe there actually some boats on the lake.
DeleteYes Larry has always done everything himself-me too actually-he should have asked me to help him with two of us it might not have tipped on him. he is definately forced now to slow down since he can't walk or hardly stand-ugh we have our woods home to worry more about now- thanks for dropping by hugs
What a dreadful day, so stressful! It must have been terrible not being with him, I'm so glad he is recovering ok at home now 😀. Wishing you both well and sending you big hugs! At least you can watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the lake, your pictures are stunning and such a lovely pick-me-up 😊. Happy weekend and take care both of you! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI so agree we are blessed to have these gorgeous views. thank you so much-hugs back
