Hello everyone,
T Stands for Tuesday is when we gather together and share a drink related post. Lots of fun, to join in click on the link in my right hand column.
We were spoiled with spring like temperatures most of last week. Spring also brings rain and lots of wind here in the Ozarks so we were back to up and down temps again and more rain.
Saturday it warmed up to the 60's f in the afternoon so I was able to get my 6 echinacea roots planted. I have never seen these for sale before here so I snatched them up. These should be pretty as they are the rainbow blend-lots of different colors.
I wasn't able to put them where I really wanted them do to the ground needed allot more prep work than I had time for, so I may need to replant them if there is not enough full sun where they are now.
That archway I put in for the wisteria is in need of much work-I didn't get to it last year and oh my the long long wisteria vines are Everywhere. I spent some time working on that too--was nice to be able to get outdoors finally.
Sunday was my day to work on my fabric art journal. I got delayed waiting for things.
My vision for the Olympics section was to add in several of those stick figures for the different events. For some reason I could not get any to print must be a copyright thing-so sigh I could not trace them. I tried drawing some-no I am not very good with that. So I kept things simple.
I love the Olympic pin and it adds some nice color. the stick part instead of being centered on the back of the pin was at the very top, so of course the pin does not sit nice on my page. I got around this by placing near the wool mountains.
I did try my new light box for tracing the ground hog-but I think I need more practice with that-not sure he looks like a ground hog haha
I used more of my coffee dyed polyester sewer's tape to stamp the month. This time I did not worry about my letters not bleeding a little.
Tomorrow-Monday-I am hoping to have some time to start sewing the pages together. I am excited to see how that goes. I will be using the blanket stitch with small beads.
Those of you that buy and drink wines, do you buy according to the look of the label sometimes?? I do that quite often. I have been looking at this Outlander bottle of wine for several months now. I did not want to spend the $9.00 as I usually keep it around $5.00 or so. Last week when I went food shopping if found it's way in my cart lol.
I just opened it tonight-very nice. dry which is my preference but fruity tones.
Over the weekend I finished watching all 10 discs in the Twilight Saga I purchased. I really loved it.
We do not go out to movies, so I had watched a couple of them on the tv-with soooo many commercials so it was a treat to see the whole movie and some of the discs were expanded versions. This set also included lots of discs with special features. It was all very good.
It has been a year or two now since I last read the books-after watching the movies I am ready to re read them again. I really loved them allot. The movies pretty much followed the story line of the books-they actually did a good job with that-except the ending was a bit different. So I just dug them all out-this will keep me busy reading. I am waiting for the release of a couple books from favorite authors so until then--
Tuesday I will be gone all day. My friend and I are headed to the big city to get our taxes done and then hit some stores for craft shopping-Have not done that in awhile. So I may not visit all of you until Wednesday-USA time
Happy T Day everyone, so glad you dropped by
Your journal is coming along nicely. Glad you enjoyed your wine. I don't usually drink wine these days as I have to take a lot of tablets which don't mix with alcohol. Enjoy your day out! Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI wrote this long detailed note on how to copy and print one of those stick figures from the olympics, then my computer crashed. First time that has happened in a LONG time. If you are interested, I can tell you how I did it, just playing around seeing what I could do with them. NOt sure where you got yours, but I got mine at Wikipedia.
ReplyDeleteYour February pages look super. Very impressive.
Sorry, I don't drink wine at all, so the idea of buying a bottle of wine for the label wouldn't entice me to pay for a bottle of wine that is going to turn to vinegar in a few years. But I had a friend who bought a bottle because it had Van Gogh's Starry Night on the label.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful fabric pages and your wine with us for T this week.
BTW, I have heard of Twilight, but never read the books or saw a movie. I live a very sheltered life, apparently!
Very nice journal pages! We have some wisteria, and my biggest challenge is to keep it from climbing and strangling nearby trees. I am constantly cutting the ground-crawling vines to keep them controlled. They travelled onto our property from a former neighbors yard where one of the tall trees is taken over by it every spring. It smells heavenly when in bloom, but the tree it climbs has died. It’s beautiful when managed well, but I don’t have the ability to do that.
ReplyDeleteI was a “Twi-hard” years ago, eagerly anticipated the next book coming out, have read them all twice. But I must have had my fill as I never got into buying the movies and donated the full set of books to the library. There is one haunting song in the first movie that I saw on TV, and I love that though...”It’s a Possibility”.
When i go to the recycle center i always look in the glass bottle section... sometimes i can pick off a pretty wine bottle label and use it in crafting.. but no i don't drink wine although i love walking down the aisle and seeing all the lovely labels..lol Happy T day Kathy! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThe Olympic pin is very pretty and looks nice against your rugged mountain backdrop. I think you did a great job of tracing the groundhog. He looks very happy though after the weekend storm and another predicted for Tues. I'd like to box the groundhog's ears. I've bought things because of color or labeling. I thought the Outlander wine label was to go along with Diana Gabaldon's book series :-D Great series if you haven't read it and the production on Starz is very close to the books. Enjoy your day in the big city. Hopefully, you'll post any art supply treasures you picked up. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot accomplished with the journal Kathy, it looks great. The groundhog is perfect! I will buy a wine for the label, just like I judge a book by it's cover! Good way to try new wines ;) Have a great time in the Big City, and I hope you find some interesting crafty things.
ReplyDeleteWendy
Your journal pages for February are looking fabulous. The Olympic pin beside the mountain range looks good.
ReplyDeleteIt was a really interesting label on the bottle, I leave the choices of wine we buy up to my husband, as long as he buys me white wine and preferably from Germany I am a happy woman.
Happy T day wishes and I hope you enjoyed your visit to the Craft store.
Yvonne xx
Can't think about plantings yet as we are in for a second snowstorm in less than a week :(:( Don't know what's going to happen to the budding leaves on the lilac bushes...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about all the commercials when watching something on tv. Been watching The Crown on Netflix and loving it-commercial free!
Your journal art is beautiful and I love the story telling aspect of it.
I can't say i ever bought wine for the label. I usually buy from recommendations or the chairman's lists- and when they're on sale:) You do have me curious about your choice though. Happy T day!
Your fabric page is wonderful. I love the fuzzy white snow caps on the mountains. So genius how you used pearls to look like snow.
ReplyDeleteI love the twilight series. I too think they are better than the movies but that is the case with almost every book made into a movie that I have seen. You should share some of your favorite authors sometime. (hint).
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Have fun reading Kathy. And I am loving your cloth journal progress. It is inspiring to see. One of these days I think I need to make a cloth journal. :) Happy T day. Don't drink too much wine or it might interfere with your reading! :) LOL. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYou are very brave doing a fabric journal, but you are doing a lovely job on it. Love your ideas for February and what you did with it. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the Joplin tornado. It was mostly in the south part of the city. Webb City and the University sit in the north part of the city. Here is a link to some photos I received from a friend because she knew I would be concerned about the tornado and how it affected the city of Joplin and of course, my home in Webb City:

I hope you enjoy these photos. They still scare me to no end. I had a friend who lost his truck, but not his home to this tornado.
now i see that olympic pin and it really is awesome - so colorful! what a good idea to incorporate the groundhog day, and clever made! really enjoyed seeing your feb page.
ReplyDeletehappy t-day!
Wow, your fabric pages are amazing! I love how you used the pearls and added your wonderful Olympic badge and the pretty metal snowflakes 😁. So glad you are getting your gardening done in the warm weather and I'd happily join you for a glass of red wine - Cheers and Happy T Day! J 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI often use images from the internet as references to guide me in sketching. I make what ever changes I want to customize the image. I don't believe there's any copyright issue with this, especially because I'm not selling my sketches. They're for my personal enjoyment. I use a screenshot app (free download from the internet) called Gadwin Print Screen to grab images. It's very user friendly and simple to use.
Your groundhog likes like a groundhog to me ;-) He looks quite happy, so I guess he didn't see his shadow and spring is on its way. Yay!
Your Feb. and March pages are great. I'm anxious to see how they look as a book.
Spring has arrived in our area. Temps are in the 70s and 80s already. Most days are mostly sunny and the sky is brilliant blue. I love our springs.
Hubby knows wines, so he does all the selecting and recommending. He doesn't care what the label looks like. That's a really striking one you found. I would soak or bake that off and save it for mixd media.
Have fun craft shopping! That's one of my favorite things to do, but I only get to once a year at most ;-(
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
I've quit trying different kinds of wine, and now just keep a "house wine" at hand. But if I see that label I'll have to pick it up :) The Twilight Saga is not my kind of vampires ;) but I do tend to go the DVD route instead of going to the theater. Craft-shopping sounds like a nice reward for getting your taxes done early. Enjoy your day! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteYour journal is coming on nicely. The pin really makes it. Never mind about the groundhog. I have never seen one and have no idea what they are supposed to look like! This one looks great to me.
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I read that the wine bottle found its way into your trolley. I can so understand that. It looks nice too. I know what you mean about the label. I do judge a book by its cover.
Talking about books, I like the Twilight series too. I read the first three. I also saw film 1 and 2. Hubby came to see them with me and consequently read the books too.
By the way, Outlander is a book too. Did you read that? I started but didn't finish it. Too steamy. I don't mind people enjoying great sex, but I don't need to know every intimate detail. And there was a lot of violence, floggings and rape. OK, those were different times. But I didn't like it.
Happy (belated) T-Day,
Lisca
A brilliant post Kathy! Glad to see you have made a start on your planting! Your sewing is fabulous and will look great when you make up your journal! I used to love an occasional glass of wine pre diabetes! Happy T Day! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric journal! I've been so out of touch with blogland that I'm going to have to go back in your posts for more. :) I loved the Twilight saga in both book and film form.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
Your fabric journal is wonderful! Oh yes the Twilight Saga! Just super!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated T-Day my friend !
