It's time again for T and it's the last one for November this year already. The months seem to be flying by way too fast for me. Tuesdays we gather over at Bleubeard and Elizbeth's and share a drink related photo. Find link in my sidebar.
Have you all shopped til you dropped? That used to be the saying when I was much younger. Ha Ha In my 20's I would shop at the malls during good Friday weekend I don't have anyone to shop for anymore, but I do use these sales online to buy clothes if we need them. This year Larry really needed new warm insulated hoodies for when he works outdoors, and His River Driver shirts from LL Bean are all worn out so bought him one of those too. I have been buying these shirts for almost 50 years now they are wool on the outside and cotton on the inside-very warm and cozy. This year they are quite pricey.
Not much happening here, the weather has been very up and down with lots of fog too. We have enjoyed lots of water fowl-loons, mallards, other diving ducks, the blue heron is still here, the eagle pair visits almost every day now too, also flocks of Canada geese fly by in the mornings. We had a dove visit the bird seed one morning.
I have been working on making this year's Christmas cards over the last week. I just mailed out the international cards, and hope to start mailing the rest end of this week. These have been a fun creative project for me over the years, and they are different each year.
I wanted to share my new favorite dip pen. I was not familiar with these, and one of the sites (The Postman's Knock) that I have enjoyed learning from her tutorials and also for buying a few things had this glass pen. It's so beautiful and writes well-I am in love with it. It is not for calligraphy but for general writing like journals or slow mail letters. It is recommended to use thin and non permanent inks like my black walnut ink and also iron gall ink. I did also pick up a bottle of the iron gall ink. Just rinse the tip in water to clean If you use a permanent ink it will be more difficult to clean
These glass dip pens are all one piece and they are really beautiful-I could see it would be easy to have a collection of these beauties. I tried it out yesterday on a slow mail letter and it glides on the paper really nice. Had so much enjoyment writing with this pretty pen.
I didn't get allot of photos this week but here are a couple very early before sunrises
Do you like to bake or make candies for Christmas? I have always enjoyed it allot through the years. Lately I make allot of different things and then give most of it away. I was able to get the melting chocolate and almond bark at Wal mart today-online it has been just too expensive.
Over the weekend I was in the mood for French Press coffee-so good this way.
Happy T and new week everyone.
I've never seen any of these glass dip pens Kathy. The pen itself is very beautiful. I used to shop till I dropped. I can't say I do it much now either. I can't find clothes I like at a mall any longer, but now that I am home more I usually wear jeans of comfy leggings anyhow. Sounds like all is well, so have a great T day and rest of November. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletesame here I still wear sweatshirts etc that are very old but ok since I am mostly at home these days. I am in need of blue jeans so will check out the resale shop soon. I haven't been to mall in probably over 30 years or longer. we live rural so they just are not near us. I mostly shop online these days for many items Happy T
DeleteI used to bake and make candies alot over Christmas AND give most of it away too! But our avenues of giving stuff away has gone the last few years with neither hubby or i working... and we don't need all that in the house.. So it really curbs my baking etc.. I would love to send some in the mail but shipping has gotten so expensive.. I saw one of those glass pens at Tuesday Morning and said to myself .. i bet my friend Kathy would love that... At Tuesday Morning it was a little set of the pen and ink for $16 I don;t know if that was good or bad price.. lol Take care Kathy! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThat was a good price for the glass pen and ink. What kind of ink was it? I think the Christmas baking and candy making gives me a little Christmas each year. postage has definately gotten way too expensive for sure-not sure how many online can offer it for free these days. when I lived at the woods house a neighbor and I would travel to Springfield mo a couple times a year. I loved Tuesday Mornings always something different there and good prices on books too, I would buy those huge bars of lavender soap from France. Happy T
DeleteThe glass dip pen looks beautiful and if it writes just a beautiful it's a gorgeous tool! I love to write with my fountain pen. My old one that I had for several decades finally started to leak, so I bought a new one while I was in Germany. I'm very happy with the new one.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't do any Black Friday shopping but went to the coast instead. A day at the ocean is always a good day. Happy T day, Kathy.
I do love nice tools-makes life more fun I think. I haven't used a fountain pen but I love the idea of those, and there are many pretty pens out there to choose from as well. Going to the ocean is sooo much better-hugs
DeleteIt's hard to believe that November is almost over, and that Christmas is right around the corner. It really is time to get those cards in the mail. The past couple of days have been too nice to stay inside, so I got out and put the border around the house in order. I was amazed at how the weeds were trying to take over this late in the year.
ReplyDeleteThe glass dip pen is a real beauty. How nice that it also works well with your homemade inks and writes smoothy. We had a gorgeous sunset today, but I just sat looking at it and forgot to take a picture.
I noticed too that this warm spell has weeds popping up already. ugh You are getting so much accomplished outdoors! We don't see too many sunsets here-we need be on the deck to see those-want to do that next summer. Hugs
DeleteI hate shopping, especially now. Outside it´s cold, inside like a sauna and people are mad!
ReplyDeleteI drop after 5 steps, LOL.
Oh, but I love fog.
Oh, cards... ATM II manage.. well atm is quite a while now, huh? I manage only basics.
And to be honrest... I never made Christmas cards! If I sent some I bought them. And no one cares for them here anyways. I have but one "friend"
wo does. Her Birthday is Dec 19th, so it´s one for 2 always. I saw her last time when we were 14 years old.
Beautiful pen. Yet all things glass I tend to accidentially break.
Yay to your lake pics.
Rather nay for sweets. Ingo made me try the Lebkuchenherz he bought. Ewwww. Sweet tooth is in hibernation again.
But giving away sounds nice, always, not only at this time of the year - happy T-Day, Kathy, hugs
I really haven't shopped much any more-no one really to shop for and I don't care for large cities -never did really. the postage is getting expensive for cards too but it is something I enjoy and along with a little baking and candy making to give away-it gives me a little bit of Christmas. I don't eat much in sweets either I rather grab snacks instead- Happy T hugs back
DeleteYour glass pen is beautiful, glad you are enjoying writing with it. I love wearing those warm shirts with fleece lining, they are my fave winter clothes! I am not getting anything done just now, Christmas will not be celebrated here. Pity, but that's the way it is just now. Enjoy your preparations, happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletewe don't do much for the holidays either, I mostly celebrate with a few homemade goodies and Larry is not feeling well lately either-we are enjoying the lake views mostly these days hugs-take care of yourself
DeleteThat dip pen is just so pretty! I loved to shop when I was younger, now I just buy what I need...the morning lake view looks fabulous, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteI do the same, and buy mostly online now-so much easier for comparing prices etc and usually free shipping
DeleteI use to do malls years ago but haven't been in one in years. I love the smaller businesses
ReplyDeleteI do not have many to buy for. I do love to bake. I usually bake for our highway department they are so busy this time of year plowing and salting the roads. I do a basket of things they can grab and go with. We are a small town and not much is open after 9pm for late night plowing. I also make cinnamon rolls for all the people I work with on the last day of work. This will be the last year of that.
I remember going to LLbeans with my family when it was squeaky wood floors and just hunting and fishing things.
have a great day
Cathy
I love that you bake for your community! I love doing it too and is fun to give it away. that would have been cool to visit the LLBean store I have bought from them for years and years
DeleteHello sweet Kathy. I have missed visiting and seeing your gorgeous lake pictures! I looked at that LL Bean shirt - looks fabulous and perfect for outdoor jobs. I have a glass pen and have only used it to do white paint touches on my watercolors. I am going to have to try it with ink and see if I can write with it. Thanks for the link. I love french press coffee - it is better. Happy T-day and hugz
ReplyDeleteHello, thank you. This is an excellent shirt for outdoors so warm and cozy. I really enjoyed writing with my glass pen very much-this will by slow mail writing pen going forward. I made my own black walnut ink last year-and I have lots of it too haha. I agree French Press coffee has a better flavor for sure Happy T
DeleteThe glass pens are beautiful and fun to write with I have two that were gifted to me. If you need a stronger cleaner, use Windex. Since it's made for glass, it won't hurt your pen. I also use diluted Windex to clean my steel nibs, too. Happy T Day
ReplyDeletethank you so much for the tip with the windex hadn't thought about using it for the nibs-Happy T
DeleteHappy Week!
ReplyDeleteThe glass open is a beauty. Cards here will be finished and mailed end of this week. Making them is relaxing.
I enjoy making the cards too-gets me in my craft room and is peaceful
DeleteDip pens are fun. I have a freind that used to make them. This one is very pretty. You will have fun with it. Have a lovley day today.
ReplyDeletethank you Nicole
DeleteLovely dip pen. Nice photos today too.
ReplyDeletethank you
DeleteLand's End prices have skyrocketed, haven't they?! Along with many others. I hope you don't get hit by the storms predicted for us. I have tried dip pens in the past. They have a cool feel to them. Your foggy morning photo is very atmospheric. Beautiful! French press coffee is often my pick :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteYes allot of prices are much higher this year for sure I will check the forecast and see what is headed our way-thanks. I love the foggy mornings too. Happy T
DeleteOnce again, thank you SO much for your lovely gift. I am sorry the photos were NOT up to par, but at least you know your wax seal worked this time.
ReplyDeleteI am going to start my cards and tip--ins as soon as I finish T Tuesday. Each year I feature a tree on mine, so I hope I'll be able to do the same this year. One that I design this year.
Your glass pen is beautiful. I have a no name friend who has a collection of them. She told me one cost $245.00 (USD). Most were less than $100.00, though. She woud swoon over yours, I'm sure. I DID!
On weekends I didn't have to work, I spent my time at the mall. One year I realized I could dress in something different every day of the year, with matching and/or coordinating outfits. Now I have about three outfits I wear all the time. Sad how when I had lots of money, I had no time to spend it. Now I have time, and no money to spend.
I'm glad you are enjoying your French press. I hate cleaning them, so I am glad you love yours. Thanks for sharing your Black Friday buys, your new glass pen, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday. And thanks again for making my day, dear.
Hi Elizabeth, I can see that these glass pens could be addictive-they are so beautiful This one was $20.00 and made in Japan. It has a nice feel and balance too. I really have not been in a mall in a very very long time. I remember when these malls were the new thing for shopping and really hurt many downtown areas. I prefer an older town over a mall but I mostly shop online these days.
DeleteThe French presses are a pain to clean but the coffee comes out so smooth and delicious. Happy T hugs
How can it be nearly December already, the year seems to have flown by. I love to bake and make candies for Christmas, I make bark too and this year I plan to make some Christmas pudding truffles and some rocky road and brownie bites 😊. I know you are famous for your candies and gift them to your friends so I'm sure you'll be making far more than me. Beautiful lake views, I bet you feel blessed to live there. Wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes I am very thankful and blessed to live we are now. allot little problems with the house-electric etc but the views to me are worth it.
DeletePlease share your recipe for the rocky road and brownie bites-those sound good hugs
I follow that ladies blog but I haven't had time to sit down and complete her tutorials. That glass dip pen is beautiful! I just put one on my wish list with some ink (wink), so, thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, everything even apparel is going up in price, especially good quality apparel.
Have a great week and Happy Tea Day, Kathy.
Kate
I like this site, I have learned allot from her. I haven't had the time to learn the calligraphy yet though. Oh I hope you get a glass dip pen for Christmas-I loved writing with it. Have a great week ahead too-hugs
Deletethat glass pen is amazing. So beautiful it is too. :)
ReplyDeletethank you, love writing with it too
DeleteThe dip pen is very neat. Shop till you drop. Yes, I know that saying. Funny.
ReplyDeletehaha we used to say that all the time years ago-don't know if people still do. I am really enjoying this dip pen
DeleteGlad you're loving the pen. It's soooooo nice!
Deletethanks I really do enjoy writing with it very much
DeleteI didn't do any BF shopping this year, who needs more stuff? I also gave up sugar so I won't be making any sweets this xmas either, it will be quite a shock lol. Still looking after sick kitties, so I'm very late to the party. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteI rarely bake with sugar any more-I use splenda or keto sweeteners so sorry your kitties are still ill-hugs
