Hello Friends,
Not sure why but this last week has gone by pretty fast. I think sometimes when you have allot to accomplish and still more to do it just feels like time is flying by.
We have enjoyed more beautiful weather with a few cold nights and storms in the mix. Same this week fall weather and then two days of 70's f-loving that especially for November. and Here in the States we have a huge mid term election on Tuesday-this one is more important than most so hoping the polls are flooded with Americans voting.
I finally spent some time in my craft room these past few days. I have been intrigued with Bleubeard and Elizabeth's challenge for Art Journal Journey this month, I needed to ask her what collage fodder was-I am liking this and I think I will enjoy this month's challenge.
I did make up eight Thanksgiving cards over several days last week. Totally different than what I have made before. These took more time so I only made the eight. They are already in their envelopes for mailing-and then I realized this morning I totally forgot to take any photos. Oh well
We are enjoying lovely sunrises early every morning
This one taken from indoors
One day I washed the large windows and kept seeing my reflection in the glass so took a photo You can see reflections from inside the house too-This photo makes me look way overweight-ugh-I am wearing super baggy jeans Interesting this photo shows the front door in the house too
I have been drinking lots of teas the last few weeks. This up and down weather really brings out the asthma symptoms This cup has a decaf green tea and also constant comment green tea bags-I needed something different besides the herbal teas
I was messaging with a friend and we were saying remember when we use to iron the leaves to preserve them for awhile? I did some this last week as I have an idea for using them as a stamp-will see how that works
Last night (Sunday) while watching the Kansas City Chiefs play (awesome game and win) I smiled to see the moon I usually can not capture a good night photo- this one not too bad
Happy T and new week
Beautiful pics and... you need new glasses. Where do you look overweight?!
ReplyDeleteOne of us needs new glasses and mine are 5 weeks old ;-)
Sorry for your asthma!
You iron leaves? Interesting.
We had footy on here, too. German guys commenting. I fell asleep :-(
They think they are so funny. They are not. One has a huge beard and loooooong hair. What for (I am getting old!)
Great moon pic!
Happy T-Day, I´ll join tomorrow - hugs to you and the lake!
yes if you iron them between wax papers they will stay flat longer-but you need to put a cloth on top of wax paper when you iron them or you will have a mess on your iron. thought of painting the back of the leaves and use as a stamp-will see what happens hugs
DeleteI tried the leaves-stamping. It was an ugly mess ;-) I think my hands got more color than the leaves...
DeleteLovely post, a bit of everything. Enjoy your tea. I've been drinking a cup of Marrocan Peppermit tea each day, and I like it. The photos are wonderful, and you don't look overweight at all! I have lots of ironed leaves stored, too, I must use them sometime. Have a great week, take care of yourself! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank ou Valerie, oh I love peppermint tea too I think Mia sent me some once I should check if I still have some. I looked at this photo and ugh looks like I gained a bunch of weight haha. I used to iron allot of leaves when I was younger we would lay them out for the fall holidays. I want to try one as a stamp. You take care as well-hugs
DeleteKathy, i often wear baggy jeans and oversized sweat shirts. Just look at your arm and you can tell you are wearing baggy clothes. Arms tell the tale and the truth.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you asked about collage fodder. It is a fun way to use up paper (and even fabric and lace) scraps most people would gladly throw away. I'm sure someone and possibly several someones will remember to take photos of your Thanksgiving card that they received.
That moon over the lake is incredible. Just simply STUNNING!
Here's a clue for stamping using leaves. Use (paint or ink) the BACK side of the leaf. It has the most veins showing and works much better. Also, I learned the hard way to use tweezers to remove the leaf after you've stamped it. I tried removing one using my fingernails and I made a mess on the substrate. Gloves are good, too, but I seem to forget them unless I am going out.
Sorry to read about your asthma. I hope the teas help. I like green tea, but never seem to drink it. Mia sent me some peppermint AND spearmint tea which I shared with Sharon when we did the napkin exchange.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful moon photo, your ironed leaves, your incredible sunrise photos, and your green teas with us for T this week, dear friend.
Thanks for the great Snoopy image reminding people to vote. Your voter message was actually much better than mine.
thank you so much Elizabeth, and for the tip with the leaves-I had not thought of using inks-and I have different colors of inks now too-ant the tweezers great idea too-am anxious to try this out. I love Snoopy-hugs
DeleteThe photo of the moon is excellent!
ReplyDeletethank you
DeleteThe weather has been all over the place here too, but we sure was happy about the rain. Your pictures are so good this week. I love that moon shot and of the sunrises too. We early voted so now all we have to do is sit back and watch the results.
Deletewe always vote on voting day-we are going to get there early as they have a really small parking lot where we vote now. the moon photo turned out really good considering my camera-Larry was playing with some of the settings. we needed rain too- wed and thur-back in the 70's-happy about that. I am watching a rally tonight
DeleteHope the elections have the right outcome
ReplyDeleteme too although there are opposing views of what that is
DeleteI mentioned ironing leaves and then never did it. We have had wonderful weather too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been busy. Love the sunrise pictures and the moon tonight is especially beautiful with an eclipse tomorrow morning very early I am going to set my alarm
Cathy

DeleteI ironed these leaves over the weekend so I would have a few to stamp images with will see how they goes haha
Sounds like you've been busy and having some fun too Kathy. I remember ironing leaves between sheets of wax paper. That brings back some fun childhood memories. I'll be curious to see how your art comes out. And nice mug too. I hope you have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika

DeleteYour sunrises are always such beauties! Your moon picture is wonderful as well - don't forget to watch the eclipse tonight! We probably won't see it since it is raining hard - finally! I'd rather take the rain at the moment, since I saw several moon eclipses. They are absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry to hear about your asthma. And I'm not really sure why you think you look overweight - you don't.
ReplyDeleteYes I am hoping I can see the eclipse early morning here.so glad you are getting some rain-we got a bit last week. these changes in weather usually gets my asthma in spring and fall-I saw that photo of me and almost didn't post it-thanks though
DeleteI love the photos from your house. It reminds me of my place in northern California. Live there three and a half years before we had to return home to Honolulu. But it was a beautiful thing to live right on the water. Your windows are beautiful
ReplyDeletethe views here is what we loved about the house- thank you so much for visiting hugs
DeleteBeautiful photos of the lake Kathy! And the moon! I've been drinking lots of teas lately too, I've had tummy aches for a few weeks off and on, but the teas really do help a lot! Especially fennel tea! It's getting chilly here now!
ReplyDeleteI have different teas too I find mints are nice for the tummy too we are warming up here tomorrow and thursday hugs
DeleteHappy T-day, Kathy. Love that moon picture and all your other lake pictures - always a treat. I need to mix some teas - great idea. Many hugz!

ReplyDeleteGood morning Jo, it has felt good to make time for crafting again-it's important too. Happy you enjoyed the views hugs
DeleteWe've been enjoying the mild weather the past week, too. No complaints here. It would be so nice to have this kind of weather through Winter with no snow. Your photos of the lake are beautiful. It must have been lovely weather to sit on the deck and sip tea. Constant Comment was my MIL's favorite. Happy T Day
ReplyDeletewould be happy with no ice or snow too, 60's and 70's perfect temps with sunshine
DeleteHi Kathy! I remember doing leaves that way with my mom as a kid.. So much fun.. Could you slip a pretty leaf in your next letter to me? No pretty leaves here.. They go from green to brown at the first freeze.. :( I'm glad to hear that collage has sparked your creativity! Can't wait to see what you make.. Just like you.. if you knew how many times i put something in an envelope before taking a photo of it..!! Crazy.. Happy T day! Soo good to see you! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeletethe leaves are a good family memory for me too. Yes next time I write I will send along a leaf. most of what is here are the oaks and they go right to brown if I don't catch a couple green ones. the nut trees here are the yellows.
DeleteI started a journal page for the collage fodder-I am liking it so far Hugs Happy T
I really need to get going with TG cards -- I'll probably end up using leftover sale inventory! Took my ballot in last week. It's all over now, but the waiting! Loved each and every photo, all lovely!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, so happy you enjoyed the photos. I don't always make thanksgiving cards but I wanted to this year-just send out a few. I need to get going on my Christmas cards soon. bought two new stamps for them
DeleteI love living rural-was always have-paper ballots, no lines, kind people I will be watching tonight coverage on rsbn online
Wow night photo!
ReplyDeleteEarly in the day photos are nice as well.
Vote done, ballot mailed over a week ago. :)
Cards! Thank you for the reminder. I forgot about them. The days grow longer as my memory gets shorter.
Have I posted half a comment?? The weather he has been mild too, although alternately rain and sun. I could read your post last week but couldn't comment. I was pleased to know that you are painting again. I love your photos, those sun rises are spectacular! BTW I wouldn't describe you as overweight! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeletethanks Chris, Elizabeth mentioned she could not comment either-hopefully google fixed it now
DeleteBeautiful sunrise photos. I LOVE your Yellowstone mug. Hope you feel better soon. I would love to see more of your leaf project. I did that a few years ago, but never did anything with the leaves afterwards.

I have to thank you for the wonderful handmade card and the card with the geese on it. I haven't told you, but geese are 'my' birds-what I mean is, it seems like God has always shown them to me when I was really needing an answer to prayers or when I was upset over something. There would be geese in the sky, or out the window (of course I have one as a pet too!). So your card really touched my heart. It was a reminder that God is never far away. Thank you so much dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me happy Debra-hugs The wolf is my spirit animal so I totally relate and you are very welcome
DeleteKathy I got your card yesterday. It made my day extra special. Seeing your photo of cooking over the fire was such a good idea for a note card. You are always coming up with such great ideas. Will be writing to you soon. Hope you have a lovely weekend and your asthma gets better. Hugs!
