T Stands for Tuesday & Rain's Art and Dinner Date

   Hello everyone,

I thought I  would combine a couple of link ups in one post, as I have seen that many do this all the time. Will see how this goes and if I like it or not.

T is where we gather with a drink related photo and share with friends over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog. Link in my sidebar

Rain's Art and Dinner Date is sharing any form of Art and Dinner is sharing foods which was my Food Wednesdays  I am looking forward to this new pairing, as I am learning more about painting from Rain's videos and she always shares foods too, so I am excited that these are together now. link in my sidebar

Thinking allot of you have been experiencing a very hot summer too. We are either in the mid 100's or high 90's F, but the good thing is, about every 10 days or so we have been getting a good rain shower, which has helped to save the flowering plants. I am very grateful for that, as one of the first years that we had moved to Missouri, we went from end of spring to late September with no rain.  So I am so thankful for the rain this summer when we get it. My perennials are doing pretty good considering.

This has been one of those weeks for us. I didn't get photos as I was just too freaked out with the whole situation.  Long traumatic day but the short version our boat lift broke-an all day process to save the boat and get it off the lift- drive down to the conservation access, put on trailer and now safely in our driveway whew  This was a 104 degree f very humid day-with Larry's health on top of it-a freak out day for sure for the both of us. I thank our new friend that lives in a cove near us, and to our new good friend that was vacationing at his family's lake house that helped Larry accomplish this. I prayed for help and we got it.

I suggested to research out the main companies for a new lift and just do it, if we have the money-we don't go in debt for anything any more.  So pretty fast I thought a new lift will be installed end of this month.  We learned that our old lift was on record from the company we chose to purchase from-50 years ago-so being on a main channel of the lake that gets allot of rough water I would say that was pretty good for that old lift.

On to more fun things I am sharing this with T and also for Rain's Art   Last Thursday her video was sharing an easy technique with acrylics inspired by Bob Ross.  I really wanted to try this out, suppose to be easy-well it was easy but I had trouble with the white in some areas, and I was not totally happy with my trees but will try this again for sure-I used my wolf stamps and I made two paintings.

The painting below ended up with those footprints-loved that

Last week I saw posts of pizza-yum-I had not made us pizzas in quite awhile, I checked and I did have the shredded mozzarella cheese in the freezer. I wanted to try a thin crust instead of the thicker Chicago style I usually make. I asked Marie my Wisconsin friend-who also cooks and bakes allot-if she had a thin crust pizza recipe. She sent me two different links-I chose this one  It came with a gluten free flour option, and you could proof for 30 minutes or not. I chose to proof it.

Next time for the gluten free version, I forgot that it is better to roll out the dough on to the baking pan or stone and then let it rise for the 30 minute. If you do it before hand like for the wheat dough you will lose all the rise when rolling out.

My pizzas and recipe are for both T and Rain's Dinner Date

Wheat crust

The toppings were simple I fried up Jimmy Dean's Italian sausage, added a natural and less salt sliced black olives, and lots of cheese.

Gluten free crust-and it was baked through and delicious. Many times gluten free doughs like this do not bake through So a keeper recipe for sure and simple and easy too-so many gluten free crusts are more complicated and do not need to be

My drink share for T
I grabbed two beers-gluten free to the left and Larry's favorite to the right I think this is the last bottle of Guinness that was in the frig-the original 6 bottles were in there now for at least 4 years haha

Monday morning in my inbox a newsletter from Dave's Garden featured this article How to make sun tea safely  Thought I would share as many of you like to brew sun tea.

I also wanted to share a video again. Saturday morning around 6 am I made me a cup of decaf black tea, fed the birds and grabbed my camera. You can hear the birds singing, the crows came in at the neighbors dock so you can hear them too, and the swallows were active that morning. This video is around 5 minutes long

Thank you so much for visiting, hugs to the T group and to Rain's community

  3. I loved this early morning visit with you. Your beautiful birds were putting on quite a show. You really should get an A plus for your art work just in case Rain is dishing out grades. Your pizzas are second to none. Lucky Larry!

    1. Hi Mary, I was so much happier with these pizza crusts-baked up really nice-both of them. To keep the squirrels from eating all the food-we sit out on the deck early morning-really nice. This was fun painting technique-I turned them into cards too-will probably make more as they are fun and turn out pretty cool

  4. I like the Bob Ross technique as well that Rain showed last time, but I haven't tried it yet. Good idea to use wolf stamps. Your paintings turned out lovely and the footprints are just the right touch. I seldom make pizza, but when I do next time I will remember to roll out the dough before proofing it. I never thought of that. Happy T day.

  7. Sorry to hear about the hot temperatures and the boat issue. Glad it is now safe in your driveway. And I am loving your wolf piece. It has some dark feelings and would be great for fall. And your pizza looks so yummy. That is the only I have made all summer it seems. Otherwise I have just been grilling or making up salads. I hope your temperatures go down a little bit. and Have a great T day Kathy. Hugs-Erika

    1. thanks Erika, I have just resigned to the fact that this will be a very hot summer-it's a cycle that occurs ever so many years here. I would love to get my grill area and dutch oven cooking set up again-hope to work on that this fall. Happy T hugs

  8. Your paintings are incredible, Kathy. I love both with the wolves. You can be proud.

Your pizzas look very good. I wish I liked to make pizza because I LOVE thin crust pizza, but very few places make thin crust pizzas anymore.

Larry's Guinness and my last one were probably purchased about the same year. Shows I'm a slow drinker, too. Glad you enjoyed your Two Brothers beer. Thanks for sharing your paintings, your pizzas, and your beers with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear Kathy.

these pizzas were really good-and isn't left over pizza the best too? hugs Happy T

Love the wolf peeking through the trees.
Hmmm... Pizza! Looks very yummy! But what kind of beers do you have? Here it says 6 months and then that´s it! Oh, Guinness makes me sleepy.

    1. I will gladly share this extreme heat with you-hugs Bob Ross was a wonderful teacher for painting-he always made it look so easy too ah Not for me usually haha but not I am ready to try. they now have all his tv episodes on you tube.
I keep a few beers in the frig and they will last a long time in there. I have some other beer that I brought with from the woods house that is in the basement that are still good too-just need to wash the dust off them haha. Happy T

  14. Wow, what a fabulous post! We've been enjoying hot sunny weather with some rain here and there too, it's lovely to spend time in the sun and we've had friends over which has been wonderful 😁. I'm glad that your friends helped with the boat and it all turned out ok in the end, it must have been stressful. Your painting is so amazing, I love the black and white colour palette and those way you incorporated the wolves into your design - this is now my new favourite page! That pizza looks so good too, I'll happily join you for a slice with one of those beers 😉. Sending you very Happy 9th T Day wishes! Hugs Jo x

  15. Oh what a palaver with the boat lift! I'm glad nobody was hurt and you hubby survived the situation. Thank God for helpful people. I didn't know what a boatlift was (not having a boat) but I googled it and I have an idea what it might look like. Do I understand you are getting a new one? That sounds expensive. No second hand ones around?
Your pizzas do indeed look delicious. And the beers too.
    I love your wolf painting.

    1. Yes the boat lift is expensive, but my husband really needs this, if this heat ever lessons we will be working towards getting the other property auctioned and sold. He did look for used ones but nothing worth the money this way hopefully no more worries.
I was very happy with these pizzas, loved the crusts too. hugs

  20. Believe it or not I wish we could have a long hot summer, I miss them so. It's raining today and I'm wearing a jumper and thinking about adding another layer haha. The pizza looks good, the boat lift breaking sounds scary and dangerous, glad you are both OK. Love your black and white acrylic paintings. I was also doing something with acrylic at the weekend and I am not happy with it at all, hopefully I can fix it at some point. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  21. Sorry to hear you experienced a stressful day with the lift breaking. It sounds like you had a friend to help out which certainly decreases the stress.
Your Bob Ross paintings are very cool. I love the black and white. They say painting in only a few colors really helps to learn tonal differences.
Your pizza looks delicious! We made homemade pizza today and I forgot how easy and delicious it is.
Those temperatures sound awful! That is why I live in the Northeast. I wouldn't survive the heat and humidity out west.
    Happy Tea Day,

Swallows are definitely too fast for my camera too!!! I think it's so lovely on the lake. But would I trade it for the woods??? Hmmm...on the fence lol! OMG Your pizzas...drool. Every time I see a pizza, I crave it, I'm a marketing company's BEST dream come true lol! Your paintings are wonderful! As we discussed, I think you did a brilliant job and I especially love the one you altered with the wolf on the right side! Lovely!!!

    1. Hi Rain, I am happy you enjoyed the video The swallows are so fun aren't they and I love their song too. I loved our woods home very much, but I am really enjoying the sunrises and moons out our window looking towards the lake. we never could see anything like that in the woods. I do miss it sometimes, as we had not neighbors close by there.
I was so happy with these pizzas. good eats--thanks about the paintings I enjoyed that hugs

  26. We lived on a lake a few years ago ... had to move for health reasons, but your video sure reminded me of how much I miss it. Loved all the birds, but don't miss boat lift issues :) Yes, I would say 50 years of service from that boat lift was a pretty good deal ... just to bad it had to give it up on your watch. I love pizza but I don't make mine from scratch (getting lazy in my old age). We have a pizza place that we have been going to for over 50 years and we have never found pizza we like better. And yes, they will make a thin crust pizza if you ask for it :) My DH and I just streamed the "Ozark" series, so it was fun looking at the lake through your eyes. I don't know if you watched it, but it was exhausting ... not sure I would recommend it . Your art turned out well and I love the wolf and the foot prints. I have fun following Rain's prompts. It is about all of the art I seem to have time for so I enjoy the fact that we do something different every week. So glad you decided to join in ... look forward to seeing more of you :)

    1. Good evening, thank you so much for the welcome, I am really enjoying the community at Rains very much. Yes that is a bummer the lift broke on us, but it lasted a long time for the others. we don't go out to eat any more, do to dietary concerns for the both of us. we did enjoy it in the past though.
I have heard about the Ozarks series, that restaurant went up for sale this year and was located here on lake in the ozarks. we don't get any streaming services so we didn't see that one.
I loved those foot prints too-I noticed them when I finished Happy weekend
