T Stands For Tuesday

   Hello everyone,

We have been enjoying much cooler weather and some rain too. You are all welcome to join us for T with our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth-just share drink reference photo in your post.

I ended spending 3 full days making soap. These batches took much longer with the addition of  the 30 minutes steep time with the herbs in the soaps. I am pleased with the results though.  I also made rosemary-lavender a healing soap for the skin, lavender-rose, lavender, and I had enough soap base left to make two batches of soap for my friend's husband.

Lavender

Lavender- organic red rose

I also cut more quilt squares. Still waiting for one of the fabrics from Hancock's of Paducah in Kentucky. I am very disappointed in them, after I submitted the order I got an email that it would take at least 10 days before mailing and they don't answer their emails I have purchased from them quite often in the past. They are not set up well during this covid.

I ordered from two small business's and they both mailed the following day. I just found a print from a quilt-yarn shop that I purchased from when I was in Yellowstone 3 years ago-that will come next week.

Here is the newest-and I love these-I needed some lights for the 4 patch blocks

Yesterday I matched up this stack of 4 patches

I was hoping to have enough left over to put together a lap quilt for my author friend that lives outside of Yellowstone Park-we'll see how it goes.

That was my week-making soap and cutting quilt squares. Perhaps this week I can participate in the texture challenge.

Since we have had cooler mornings-finally-I am enjoying decaf coffee again. I make a pot and then put it in this thermos and it's good for a couple days. Remember when this was the coffee cup size??  I actually prefer this size.

Oh and I just found out from one of my Outlander facebook groups of all places that Stephanie Meyer has finally finished and published her latest Twilight book Of course I had to get it-found the better price on ebay.  A few years ago I had read that part of her manuscript for this book was stolen from her computer-I don't know if she ever prosecuted or what happened but she didn't finish the book til now. This is the first book Twilight but instead of being narrated by Bella it is from Edward.  I have re read these books several times-such a gifted writer.

I took a little video one early morning on 9-11 of how peaceful the lake now is.

Happy T everyone-a bit early as I may be working at the woods house this upcoming week

Beautiful mug and video. Hearing the water against the shore sounds like being out in a canoe.

  2. Your soaps are beautiful. The lavender rosemary sounds very nice. When I look at the used to be normal cup size, I think it's so tiny! 😺 I did enjoy the Twilight Books. I read them when the Young One was reading them in high school. I didn't know another book was coming out. I'll have to tell the Young One. Happy T Day

    1. The lavender rosemary turned out really nice.
I had lost touch of following the author over the past several years-I follow her on amazon so was surprised I did not get notified of this new release.

  3. I love the rose-shaped soaps. That coffee cup is _perfect_. It's all but impossible to find cups or mugs that don't pride themselves on being bigger and ever bigger :( I much prefer the right-sized ones ;) That peaceful lake video is how I had thought it would be. All the huge boats you've shown were a big surprise to me. Happy T Day!

I was very surprised with these huge ocean boats too here on this lake. I have seen stories now of many leaving california for here.

  5. You always made the most beautiful soaps, Kathy! The lake does look peaceful, but with my sound on at first I thought you were on the water filming from a boat. I guess water is never completely still.

  6. Your soaps look great Kathy. And I do like that cup. I remember those, and they do seem small in our nowadays perspective, but I hardly ever seem to finish a big mug so that cup is wonderful. I have also picked up that new book. I am reading it along with another book. My daughter is reading it also so it is fun we can talk about it. I still have quite a bit to go but am enjoying it, in many ways it is more interesting as it is more unique. Happy early T day Kathy. Have a great start to your week. Hugs-Erika

  9. Haven't made soaps in a long time- and mine were just the basic shapes- not like your really pretty molds! Rosemary and lavender was my fave:)I also made one called a Creamsicle with a layer of orange scent(not overpowering) and a layer of milky vanilla-just like the popsicle!
Your quilt is going to be so beautiful and comforting.
And how lovely to see a quiet, peaceful lake where you hear the water- not boat motors. Happy T day!

You have been very busy. I have always wanted to try soap making but have never wanted to invest in the supplies.Your soaps look and I bet, smell amazing. Great way to use those herbs.
I saw that our library got this book by Stephanie Meyer but I had no idea it was part of the Twilight series. I have all the books and movies and enjoyed them when they first came out. I may have to read this book soon.
    Happy Tea Day,

I still have some hand made ones from a friend, Hubby got so excited and bought a kit, too. He bought it. Like... two years ago. Nothing ever happened....

    But, what can I say.
He bought me a sewing macjine (for kids) and it´s so darn complicated!!! Oh, boy, oh boy!
Will I ever get to use it? (I can always say: soap!!!)

    Sunny and 26C today!!!

  14. Making soap sounds like a very rewarding activity. I've been given some hand-made soaps and they are usually very pleasant to use (though occasionally they melt way too fast).

  16. What a lovely video. It made me feel so peaceful listening to the water lapping against the shore. Perfect peace.
Your quilt pieces look great. I agree that a few lighter coloured ones are good to have. I do hope you don't have to wait too long for your other order.
Oh those soaps are beautiful. You could start a business and sell them .I buy soap from a local guy here in the village but he doesn't do pretty of frangranced. At least I have an artisanally made product.
    Happy T-Day,

    1. Hi Lisca, I am glad you enjoyed the lake video-it has been very peaceful here this past week. we'll see what the weekend brings. several years ago I did sell soap on etsy-but it got too expensive with the shipping and these bars are actually more time consuming to make then the traditional ones that they slice off.

      Delete
    2. ps there is no cure time involved like traditional soaps but the indivual bars this way may take a bit more time but they are ready to use once set

  17. Kathy, your soaps are absolutely beautiful. I wish I could buy some, especially the lovely lavender ones in the top photo.

I like your Lake Time mug. What a life. We live on Mexican (Mañana) time. That's not too bad either.

You've really been busy. I love seeing your quilt squares getting organized. Such pretty fabrics.

Happy T-Day. Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

  18. Your soaps look so pretty and I can imagine that they smell just as good too! I love your coffee cup, I sometimes think that coffee tastes better if the cup is beautiful!! I love the mug too! You are looking very organised on the quilt front, love those two samples you show - do the company ship abroad? Your video looks wonderful, I see the colours of the trees are already turning Autumnal - you could be in for a good show! Have a good week, Belated Happy T Day, Hugs, Chrisxx

    1. Thank you Chris I was really happy with these soaps-I made them different this time-learning about infusing the dried herbs in the warm soap for 30 minutes-then straining out.
Many quilt shops do ship abroad you would just need to contact them and ask These came from fabric shack a small business they shipped the next day and usa customers were free shipping do to covid thought that was nice of them we had been soooo dry and hot here that leaves turned early

  19. Yes, I'm late visiting. But at least I'm online. Your soaps are so pretty. It's too bad the soaps I make don't turn out beautiful like yours. Mine would melt your molds, though, I fear.

Your new quilt squares are beautiful. I know you can't wait to get the extra fabric so you can finish that quilt.

I've never heard of Twilight, so I'm sort of out of luck. I hate to tell you, but that cup would last about six minutes in my world. I go through at least four 32 oz mugs a day. However, I realize most people don't drink coffee like I do. Thanks for sharing your incredible soaps, your quilt squares, and your cup and mug and decaf coffee with us for T this week, dear friend.

    1. Good morning, Happy to see you back online. Yes you need a low pour temperature to use the molds Yep My husband is the same uses a large mug and drinks a whole pot every morning. I forget I like this small size so my coffee stays hot while drinking it
