A New Dish for Our Dinner

I thought I would try a new recipe for our  main meal today.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a seafood box from Good Ranchers. We do not eat much beef anymore-I never did-so I chose the seafood box. I didn't care for the cod-but then I found out after I did not cook it properly, and these are very thin filets of cod which I was not familiar with They sell only products from the USA nothing at all added to the beef, chicken, seafood-all USA caught or raised.

. So today I wanted to try their shrimp. These were really nice, a good size and totally cleaned, I got 4 one pound bags of the shrimp in my box.

I looked online and found this recipe  I used all olive oil and not any butter, and instead of soy sauce which has lots of wheat in it, I use  organic coconut aminos-that tastes like soy sauce and also without all that high salt content that soy sauce has.

When  I got into making the recipe-Wow a lot of honey in this recipe, but in the end it turned out delicious  (One of these days I need to sit down with my camera and read the instructions-as I usually have a light issue indoors)

.

I had some nice large fresh mushrooms so I added those in too. Larry really liked this dish. Next time I will use a milder honey-the one I had open was a darker more flavorful honey-but it turned out well. My sauce did not thicken up as much as it should-but it worked out good over the jasmine  rice.

We got a lot of rain again last night and early this morning-more to come in this week.

Happy new week

    1. I only make shrimp a few times a year so it's more like a treat for us. I usually make shrimp for new year's eve-a shrimp boil This recipe was good I will make it again

    1. Good morning Deb, we stopped eating out years ago-for us too expensive, not heart healthy at all for Larry and for me having celiac-no assurances the food is gluten free Also for us restaurants have way too much salt and other stuff we don't want-that's just us-I really watch the food for both of us. We used to enjoy going out once in awhile for a break when I was working long hours-but now I just really enjoy cooking and baking at home.
For those that enjoy eating out-the Lake in the Ozarks has soooo many choices now to choose from
Sounds fun with the Grand Little-we are cooler today lots of rain coming in here this week
      Hugs

  5. If we counted the times we have had beef lately, it would be amazing how little as seafood and chicken are our favorites, usually more seafood than chicken and shrimp is always in the freezer. Thanks for this recipe which may be on your to-do list in the future!

    1. Good morning, we eat a lot of lean pork too like tenderloins especially-I grill them in my cast iron grill pan-chicken breasts that way too.
I was really happy with this recipe, would use a milder honey next time-but Larry really liked it-I think I would add some steamed pea pods too with the broccoli or another veggie with the broccoli

  6. I love seafood, and this looks like a good recipe. I actually like beef, but I don't eat it more than once a week, if that much. Chicken is OK. It really depends how it's prepared. Have a great week Kathy.

  7. Yes for buying local!!!! We get apples from New Zealand, what for????
Milk from South Germany - we have cows here in the North!
Sadly I do not like seafood (I do know it is healthy).
Sun´s out here, and maybe getting warm enough for balcony-time!!!
