T Stands for Tuesday-Photos

Joining T over at Bleubeard and Elizabeath's-just share a drink related photo to join in, link in my sidebar.

I am sharing a few photos this week.

Some  of you may remember from last year a visit from  the "deck duck"  I had just been wondering if she/he would visit us again and the duck arrived the next day. Larry thinks this is the same duck just more mature.

This was taken early morning, full sun with steam from the lake. We are dropping into the low 50's and high 40's F at night for several days now. By 11 am it warms up to the high 70's and low 80's F during the day so really perfect weather for this long weekend.

Friday I baked up yellow angel food cakes for the both of us to go with the lovely fresh strawberries and blackberries I had picked up at the grocery store. They came out so good even the gluten free version.
The first photo is the wheat cake and the second is the gluten free version. I had extra egg whites after separating the eggs so added them to the gluten free cake-gave it the extra volume it needed.
These rose so much this time I had a bit of difficulty getting them out of the pans.

Gluten free cake below. I froze most of mine in single servings, as gf baked goods will dry out faster than the wheat cakes do.

Of course the lake was totally bonkers with many many  boats of all sizes. I am writing this up early Sunday evening and the lake is still full of boats going every which way.  I only got a couple photos, as I pretty much "hid" in the house with all the commotion. lol  I did get to enjoy fireworks from the neighbors Saturday evening. Am hoping the one straight across from us will display more fireworks again tonight-he is a professional so the show is amazing. I have such an amazing indoor view of his fireworks show.

This photo below is taken looking to the right of the deck-where the lake really opens up for a bit and where lots of boats come in at. It is fun to see all the different types of boats-all sizes and some very very expensive ones too.
We had friends that came up to go fishing for a bit Sunday morning off our dock-In a couple hours they caught a large bucket full of crappie, bass, and catfish-good eats. The grandfather lives in Colorado and he loves to fish when he visits his family (our friends)

I forgot to take photos but I did finish up the limincello recipe on Wednesday. I divided it into two gallon water bottles and stored them in the freezer. Each bottle was about half full-for expansion. Will be better tasting in another month or so.

For my drink share-a cup of white tea that I had picked up at the Amish food store

and I will close  with this surprise-This really nice bird feeder was gifted to us by our lake friends for Christmas. Told us it was squirrel proof. I had to laugh at that because I have yet to find a bird feeder that is squirrel proof or raccoon proof.  Over this busy weekend-the new squirrel youngsters have been a handful, that I have had to bring in the seed feeders so they don't destroy them Sometimes there 6-8 youngsters eating all the bird seed.

Yep this squirrel managed to get through the cage area that is suppose to protect the seed feeder. I don't think an adult squirrel could get in though.

Happy T and new week

  2. There’s so much to love about this post. Your first two pictures of your friendly duck are my favorites. And, the big gf cake gets a big WOW! I have been thinking about you this weekend knowing it would be a wild one there on the lake. Mary @ Hilltop Post

    1. good morning Mary, it was for sure a wild one here-haha. I was very pleased with the gf cake, I should make a note to add in extra whites next time. these eggs I used had smaller yolks and more whites so that's how ended up with extra. we were happy the duck remembered us

  3. Oh, how cute are the duck-news!
Ingo got industry-strawberries and was a bit mad I had no interest. I wait for my wood-strawberries from 1974...
Also had a baking galore - right now, reading your blog, I eat onion cake, so yum!
Sorry about the noise and all on your beautiful lake.
Funny enough - in hot weather... we were the only ones on the balcony!
To nice fireworks. We will miss Australia Day next year by a couple of days... Visited 2019 withSami from Colorful World (today´s theme), it was great.
2015 I steered a motor boat on the ocean at Perth!!! My friend certainly had an eye on my and I was the slowest around...
When Ingo goes fishing I take a book ;-)

LOL. Forgot to put walnuts out. "Peanut" sure reminded me!
Oh. But they are sooooo cute.
To happy (T-) day and hugs to you and the lake

    1. I enjoy fireworks so it is a bonus I can watch them out of the wall of windows-pretty cool. got to see more last night from someone else.
hopefully the lake will be mostly quiet today as many will be packing up to go back home if they are going back to work on tuesday.
the squirrels are cute to watch but they don't share they eat All of the food til it is gone oh well haha
      Happy T and new week

    2. Hopes for a quiet lake - wish me luck with the balcony, same problem.
Funnily! The squirrels here do share! Often only one Walnut is taken - maybe cause they are family?

  4. I agree with you that there is no squirrel proof bird feeder. I just let the squirrels enjoy it too, but too bad they are soooooo greedy. And it's been a busy holiday weekend around my neck of the woods too. We finally had some summer like weather. And you have fresh strawberries already. Yum. They are the best and your angel food cake looks delicious. Enjoy this holiday Monday and T day too. hugs-Erika

I was thinking your area is probably very busy with tourists too. Happy T and new week-hugs

  5. Squirrels are great fun to watch, especially the babies, but they can be a pain in the backside! You have lovely views of the lake, but I can imagine that it's a bit loud at times like these. And the thought of cake and strawberries......I want some! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  6. What a frustration when all the wildlife help themselves to the bird feed.
Your lake photos are always lovely, it looks like being on vacation all year round.
Your cakes look delicious! GF is always a more difficult texture to work with but I think the taste is what really matters.
    Happy Tea Day,

    1. I was thinking that too over the weekend-does look like a vacation here every day-love that. I do miss the quiet woods at times but we are enjoying the lake views very much.
I was so pleased with the gluten free cake-I only changed up the flour in the recipe plus added the extra egg whites. this is a good tasting cake.
we have way too many squirrels here for sure which does get frustrating at times- I had to bring the two feeders indoors again today

  7. Ah! It is a smart young squirrel! :) Though squirrels look innocent, they can be annoying at times. I remember how they damaged the roof of my parents' home (they bite timber parts).
Beautiful photos from the lake. The tea sounds delicious too.
    Happy T day!

  8. Yummy looking cake and tea, plus fun views around your place too. How lucky you are to have a duck friend and live on the lake even with the pesky squirrels (we have tons of them as well). Great your friends got tons of fish with all those boats making a mess of things. Happy t-day, Kathy and hugz

  9. The naughty squirrel made me laugh. They are just too intelligent and agile.
Did you get to see your neighbour's firework display?
That bread looks amazing. I had my friend staying with me last week and she has to eat glutenfree. It is always a sport to find bakery's that sell gf bread. (We found one and it was delicious. I tasted it)
    Happy T-Day,

  10. Gorgeous photos of the Lake, lovely sit and watch the boats, and wildlife as usual Kathy, our son in England gets the squirrels on his bird feeders too, they are very crafty, he also has some quite narrow ones that they find hard to hang on to so they collect what the birds drop.
Tasty looking cake. Happy T Day Jan S

  11. Loved the duck photos and the lake behind it. Squirrels are pests in my garden. They dug up my sunflower seeds and left the hulls as an insult. I saw two yesterday roaming through my herbs. I hope they didn't like any of them.

Your cake looks delicious. I've never had a gf cake, but that looks yummy.

I bet you're glad the boats are gone today, or at least most of them.

Your white tea looks wonderful. I was surprised it came from the Amish store, but it looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing your various lake photos, your cake, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kathy.

    1. squirrels are really huge pests especially when there are lots of them-sorry about them eating your seeds-sigh yes the noise from all the boats was very loud too, today just a few boaters out there. the weekend will be busy here now til labor day. we are on a point not in a cove so we get the full brunt of all the huge waves from the boats-but we do have a view and most coves do not.
I always check the teas and coffees when I go to the amish store. they get seconds so the prices are pretty low-boxes smashed etc. they were mostly out of all the teas except for this one and no coffee. those are real bargain when they have them when I am shopping.
      have a good week hugs

  12. Your views are impressive! Squirrels are a trial, but so far so good here on the patio. I trust you're right and that the adult squirrels won't fit on your new feeder. How generous and thoughtful a gift!

    Happy T Tuesday!

  15. I remember the traffic on the lake during Labor Day, 4th of July & Memorial Day from when my folks lived on Beaver Lake! It was crazy. Love your busy lake photos. You were wise to hide! LOL Happy to see your deck duck back. Squirrels! We fought them from getting in our bird feeders all the time where we lived before. They are smart!
Thanks for sharing your white tea, (don't think I have had that before). Happy T Day.

  16. Kathy your squirrel has got me smiling. I have a feeder and sometimes have two at a time sitting in it. Yes feeding the birds is my intent but lets get real we may as well say we are feeding the squirrels too!! What a treat - your duck and I bet your hubby is right it has just matured. Did it stay long last summer? Looks like you are having gorgeous weather but did you get rain? We need it so bad. Planted garden and am watering but concerned for our farmers and their crops. Well enjoy the rest of your week. Hugs!
