Hello Friends,
This will be a short post this week. I am linking up with Bleubeard and Elizabeth's T for Tuesday where we also share a drink related photo in our post.
This past week I did get everything planted that came up from seed in my greenhouse bottles. I pushed to get it all in the garden with the forecast saying rain for several hours-We got missed-again sadly. A few sprinkles is all and then strong winds which pushed it all away from us-and no rain in the coming forecast. Typical Missouri though.
A few weeks ago we finished up the keto ice cream I had made back in the fall-that ice cream holds up really well in the freezer. The recipe I had been using is a long process. One makes a thick base first that takes 30 minutes of constant stirring, add the rest of the recipe. Cool for several hours, and then put it in the ice cream maker.
Today I decided to try a simple vanilla recipe that came with the ice cream maker and just substitute Splenda for the sugar. I almost thought of using half Splenda and half keto powdered sweetener but decided to see how the Splenda would work out. Much faster for sure, just mix up the base and put it right into the machine. I churned it the full 25 minutes and it came out a bit over churned but tastes good.
I did get my wool sock slippers mended with that little loom I shared. Sorry didn't get photos. The video I had shared was excellent for setting it up-I wanted to use wool threads for this to mend that large hole, but since the bottoms of the socks had little rubber alpacas that was hard to set up so the wool threads on the loom would seperate out to weave-so I gave up on that and used cotton weaving yarn instead-that worked out well. The one thing I did not care for, on the bottom of the patch are lots of loose strings from setting up the loom-when finished weaving the patch those all need to be brought to the back and then woven in. with the big hole in the socks that I was covering that was a challenge. I don't wear shoes in the house, instead wear socks or I love these thick wool socks. Will see how long the mend lasts
In the garden the bee balm started blooming Sunday morning
This is my cup of tea Sunday morning while making the ice cream-my Ticket for T I had picked up this large mug one year at the Fiber U event I used to attend classes at in July.
That looks super creamy and yummy!
ReplyDeletethank you
DeleteThe ice cream looks fabulous!
ReplyDeletethank you
DeleteI LOVE that misty pic of the lake! Glad you got your socks mended, hope they hold up well. Ice cream is always good. Enjoy your tea, happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGood morning, it was very mist over the weekend with the drop in temps at night recently. I am hoping my mend on the socks hold up too. Happy T
DeleteYour lake is looking lovely! I love ice cream and it's the time of year for it. Yum!
ReplyDeleteUs too, I enjoy making it better than purchased sugar free ice cream
DeleteHomemade Ice cream and bee balm sounds wonderful
ReplyDeleteI agree-hugs
DeleteThat is great that all your greenhouse plants made it! I lost quite a few to the hot weather.
ReplyDeleteYour ice cream looks delicious! I always forget that I have an ice cream maker. Now I want to make some.
Love the picture of the mist on the lake.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I really love having this newer version of the ice cream maker-no need for salt and ice. It's fun to make too. I was happy to get all these plants into the garden-many of them I had grown from seed so was pleased with the results this year.
DeleteI love the mist over the lake too-Happy T hugs
That ice cream has to be delicious Kathy, I would like to try it. Here too the temperatures have dropped, and today it has been raining all day. That's good, because we need a lot of rain here. It's amazing you were able to fix your slippers, I hope they last a long time.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day ! I really like your mug. And the photo of the lake and the birds eating is beautiful.
Have a great week
Big hugs, Caty
Hi Caty the ice cream turned out pretty good but I did over churn it a bit. we need some rain here, hoping soon. I am hoping my woven patch for the socks works too for a long time.
DeleteHappy T hugs
So glad you got all your little plants in the ground Kathy!! Homemade icecream is always welcome!! I do miss seeing the mist on the lake... Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteThat was a big accomplishment getting all those plants in the ground. the mist over the lake is really cool to see Happy T
DeleteYour ice cream looks yummy. I need to make some. You've inspired me. And I know what you mean about big boats. I think people get boats like that and sleep in the boats. But that's an ocean or Great Lakes sized boat. How big is your lake? I hope you have some fun spinning and that you can now enjoy all your planted flowers. Happy T day-hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI forgot what it is called but for some reason Lake in the Ozarks is navigable waters of the united states-so it allows these ocean boats-we have boats on here that are double the size of the one in the photo. this lake is narrow for the most part but it winds around like a snake and is 93 miles long these large boats also pay no tax for some reason--they are destroying the sea walls for sure-glad we have a natural slate rock wall in front of our property-less maintenance.and don't think it will wear down in our life time.
Deletethanks I did do a little spinning today-could tell I have not spun since gardening. Happy T and weekend
Ingo used his ice-cream machine I think some whopping three times...
ReplyDeleteI would love to see your socks! Cute, fitting cup.
Strange about the boat, but love the foggy lake-pic!
Happy T-Day and hugs!
thanks Iris, I splurged and upgraded to this ice cream machine-no salt or ice needed-just have to keep the bowl in the freezer-which freezes the ice cream. I make sugar free so I cam make it better than store bought. I love the foggy view too over the lake hugs
DeleteHow great you got all those plants in. Way to go. A bit of rain here. Just enough to settle the dust. It got in the 50s here overnight several nights. Great sleeping weather, but I was awake.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your socks repaired and your bee balm blooming. Your ice cream looks delicious and sound SO much easier than what you made before.
What a fun mug. That fits you and your spinning obsession (grin), too. Thanks for sharing your ice cream, the fog over the lake, your mug, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kathy. Sorry I was late visiting.
Hi Elizabeth, I was so happy when I got the last plant in the garden, I will be watering in the evenings til we get a soaking rain. I just got the water iris's in the mail yesterday-I will get those planted early tomorrow morning.
Deletethis is a fun mug for sure would make good soup or chili mug too.
Happy T
Dear Kathy, your ice cream experiments sound good and you've been busy planting and doing your woolly things again (this time mainly for repairs, if I understood everything correctly)... I like the bulbous "SPINNING" cup!
ReplyDeleteAll the best 🌱🌿🌱 and happy T-Day, Traude

Hi thanks so much Traude yes I did a weaving repair over the big hole on the bottom of my wool socks-so far so good. love this large mug too-hugs Happy T
DeleteBeautiful lake pictures, great looking ice cream, and I love that mug (and know it is true). Boat season is in - my SIL got his out this weekend. Sorry for the loss of peace....Happy T-day and lots of hugz
ReplyDeleteYes you are right-loss of peace on the lake starting this memorial weekend-if it gets too crazy out there I close the curtains over those big windows
DeleteI’m sure homemade ice cream is much tastier with your own flavours, it looks creamy.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like to wear slippers unless it’s really cold although our tiled floors can get really cold sometimes I always love to see your photos of the lake
Happy T Day. Jan S
thanks Jan, I don't like to wear shoes in the house so I usually wear old socks or I love these wool socks with the rubber alpacas on the bottom Happy T
DeleteThose boats are on the larger lake here. They can sleep on that lake but not on our lake so we don't see them. Ice cream sounds good it would not last that long in this house. You are always busy I bet your repair works great. love your flowers.
ReplyDeleteCathy
thanks Cathy over the winter I forgot about the ice cream and I had two flavors-so back in March said we need to eat this haha It is fun to make with this easier ice cream maker my bee balm flowers had butterflies and bumblebees this morning
DeleteBeautiful sunrise and lovely blooms. Making ice-cream at home sounds interesting. It is nice to read about how you mended wool sock slippers. I hope it will last for some time...
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day!
thank you Amila, am hoping my mend will last a long time too Happy T
DeleteI haven't made ice cream in a long time!
ReplyDeletesince I bought this nicer machine a couple years ago, I really enjoy making it now
DeleteFun to make your own ice cream especially when you know what ingredients you used. Your mug is cute and so you. Beautiful photo of the mist rising from the lake. Happy T Day
ReplyDeletethanks, yes I do enjoy making the ice cream, since we need sugar free it's better than store bought
DeleteYou have been very busy with the planting, mending and ice cream making. I feel like a slacker, LOL! There is something soothing to me about a view with water. Your lake view is wonderful. Hope to see pictures of your garden as it grows.
ReplyDeleteWe are really enjoying the lake views-this will all change come this weekend-boats will be every where zipping here and there haha
DeleteLake yachts, people sometimes sleep in them.
ReplyDeleteyes they do, the problem is there are boats twice this size on this man made lake-they belong on the ocean not here. they are hurting the sea walls
DeleteOh, you have been busy! Do let us know if your plants are doing well.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I will hugs-
DeleteGreat that you got all your seedlings in the ground, but too bad that the rain didn't appear. Fingers crossed that the seedlings will make it. The bee balm already looks good. So sad that those big boats are littering your beautiful lake.
ReplyDeleteYes it was a bummer we didn't get the rain, I have watering a bit in the evenings, everything looking for now especially with the lower night temps I think and we reach low 80's not the high temps so far.
DeleteI am really happy with the bee balm this afternoon lots of butterflies and bumble bees enjoying the flowers Happy T
The mug is perfect for T and for you! Yes, you will definitely need plenty of ice cream to get through a hot Missouri summer. Your homemade variety looks delicious. I hope all the new transplants are doing well. Take care and hugs from the hill.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, so far the garden is looking good with all the new plants. and we will be enjoying the ice cream for sure-hugs
DeleteJust lost a whole comment. It's good to have a week of getting things done. Sorry you aren't getting rain. We had a long run of rain but now sunshine every day and a forecast for more. The mist on the lake looks wonderful, Happy T Day, hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHi Chris sorry about the lost comment that is always so frustrating. I am hoping we get a nice rain soon. I love the mist on the lake too-Happy T
DeleteMy bee balm is a different kind than yours. Your blooms look so pretty! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeletethank you I know there are different colors too
DeleteKathy love your mug...it is perfect for you I am sure. As always the photos are beautiful of the lake. Pray you get some rain soon - we too are dry. I know you are certainly keeping busy. Hope to write you soon once my garden gets planted. Take care and have a lovely weekend. Hugs!
