Wow we had a really big storm move through early this morning, Larry got caught in it on his back from town.
Similiar to that other storm I shared. I looked up the weather and our area was getting 50 mile an hour winds. Hopefully this will cool us down a bit and rid us of the high humidity.
The last couple of days I played with my acrylic paints. I worked on waves-not so good, and worked on depth so so.
I want to thank all of you that visit and comment. I don't have anyone else to share these with, and I appreciated the feedback. So any tips for improvement are always welcome here.
I continue to monitor comments as I still get some pretty bad spam on occasion, and last week I got a very hateful message on how horrible my painting is and I should stick with knitting-Wow glad I monitored and I don't knit so that's that.
Thanks for stopping by
Thank you Valerie--I guess these are just hateful people trying to stir up stuff
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should have published that bad comment so all of your followers could've punched the commentor out with our words. That probably eould've shut them up for good!
ReplyDeleteI think you've done so well with the waves-I am so scared of doing water-and I want to. You are doing really well about making the far distance lighter in color! It took me years to get that. Do please keep showing your work. I love it!
sad thing is same the trolls probably don't return to see if published or not.
Deletethanks so much-this one with distance I read about from the watercolor artist I shared-so wanted to try it with the acrylics. some of my watercolors have arrived today along with new brushes. that instructor only uses 9 paint colors to mix everything with so I ordered the one this set was missing.
sorry should have proof read first. sad thing is these same trolls don't returen
DeleteYour whitecaps look like your lake! My only thought if you want more realism is to try blending the white of the whitecaps very gradually into the blue of the water below them. It might provide depth. Your mountains lighter in the distance is great! There’s good depth in those. It’s a thought, but honestly, this is your style painting developing. Perhaps just letting it develop is the way to go!
ReplyDeletethanks much Barabara
DeleteEven with the storm, the lake is beautiful, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI have a greek flag on my balcony too!
As for your paintings, they are great, as always. We are not painters, we do not sell our works, we are crafters, or maybe artists, amateurs. And we have fun with our crafts. So, you should not care about the bad comments. We, your friends, are here for you to encourage you to keep creating. Hugs, sweetie.
very well stated-hugs Mia
DeleteYou did very good with your depth Kathy... things are lighter in color the further away they are and darker as they get closer... Woot ! woot! All the rain keeps missing us.. We could really use it... Rainy Spring but Summer has been rather dry... 50% chance tomorrow.. fingers crossed.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeletethanks-we had gotten allot of rain for awhile but now not so much-this was the first rain in awhile-hugs
DeleteI used to worry when someone no longer followed me. I've never added comment moderation, but I've gotten a couple of nasty remarks in 15 years. They were because I apparently got a bit too political. I don't paint, at least not like you, so no one is ever going to fault me for that.
ReplyDeleteI adore your paintings, Kathy. One thing I learned (and Barbara touched on it) is closer images are darker and further images are lighter. You have that mastered with your mountains and I love that.
Don't let anyone tell you you can't paint. Send them to my blog and I'll show them what lousy painting REALLY looks like. Do whatever is in your wheel house that makes you feel good and don't let others tell you different. We are here to be supportive, not cruel. And I could NEVER give you even friendly criticism over your paintings, because on your WORST day, you would be 386 times better than anything I could create.
thank you so much for your supportive comments-hugs
DeleteWeather on the lake is amazing. Pay no attention tot the Trolls. You enjoy, paint, and learn. If it pleases you, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much CJ-just needed to be reminded of this-hugs
DeleteNeat video, it gives me the chills seeing the water and wind like that. I think you should stick with painting. I like the energy in your strokes.
ReplyDeletethank you for the encouragement-that was a wild storm
DeleteWow, that is awful about the nasty comment. Why do people waste energy writing those kind of things? They are just small minded people. I like your waves and your paintings. And as long as you like what you do, and keep doing it, that is most important. None of us like everything about everything we make, but just keep at it. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI know I was pretty shocked actually with the comment from here on blogger-I do get quite allot of spam but nothing this hateful
DeleteThanks for your comments-I agree that is what art is all about-branching out and learning new things
What a beautiful storm! We haven't had anything like that. They've been tending to move south of us. My only spam is "check out my link"-type stuff. I'd've been tempted to post the ugly comment and then let all of respond to it ;) I'd've been happy to offer _them_ some helpful criticism lol I've never tried to do waves, and I like how yours turned out. I like your clouds, too.
ReplyDeleteThis was quite a storm. this was the worse spam I have ever had-hopefully the last thanks for your comments
