A lot of our nation has either been hit with massive flooding or wintry storms with snow and ice.
All things considered not too bad here-we didn't get the 14 inches of snow-thank goodness-but we got at least 6-8 with strong winds so my steps are drifted over. We are also in the negative temperature and single digits during the day still for a few more days. We are to get to just above freezing on friday and then the warm up.
The deck has drifts as well-and got the screen door open enough to throw out some seed and suet chunks to the birds. The front door which is glass is solid ice at the moment-I have packages coming in but not thinking they will make it here-don't think our gravel road has been plowed out as of yet, I know the garbage truck did not attempt the drive here.
Could be worse-we did not lose our electric-so thankful as this entire house is electric-first time we ever lived in a house with a woodstove not set up for back up heat and cooking.
This morning we are watching lots of sea gulls fishing for food and flying around I am thinking my friends on the east coast have gotten hit much harder. I took a few photos from indoors-a couple of them show my camera.

ReplyDeleteWe got about 12 inches when it was all said and done and we are cold but not negative this morning 7 degrees.

the coves here are froze over I am hoping with the warm up next week will keep the lake from totally freezing-it did that here a few years ago.

DeleteSo glad Kathy you have power. Really depend on it when it gets that cold out. We have thus far been fortunate...did have some ice but there is to be some more snow overnight here. Am ready for spring - how about you? Hugs!

DeleteGlad you did not lose power. We cannot get our side gates open because of the snow drifts. Hopefully your packages will be delivered. It was 2 degrees yesterday morning and 1 degree this morning. Even colder with the wind chill. UGH Janice

No snow or anything here just COLD... much colder than we are used to around here... Last night was our last night down to 11F...tonight is 19 then Friday night is 26 . Then lo and behold our high on Sunday is 75!!! I hope thats our last really cold spell... I do not like it when it gets this cold.. Its been happening at least once a Winter... not fun.. They do not insulate these houses to withstand that kind of cold... How do you handle your pipes freezing... ? Do you have trouble with that...? Boy we do here... because i think the building requirements do not require them to put as much insulation as maybe say you in MO... If these Artic Expresses keep happening they might need to rethink that ...lol Take care Kathy... Stay warm... At least the sun is out here today... i hope you have some sun too... ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about pipes in your area may need to protect them somehow if this keeps up. This super cold has gotten my asthma really bad-hope it gets better soon.
