Hi everyone, Wow can you believe we are a week away from Christmas, and today (Sunday) first day of Hanukkah already??
I am posting a bit early again for T where we gather over at Bleubeard and Elizabeths and also share a drink related photo-find link in my side bar.
Sunday was very cold still but we had lots of sunshine. I baked up lots of cut out cookies and in the early evening I worked up 2 pounds of dark chocolate bark-my back is screaming at me to stop already haha. Hoping tomorrow is a sunny day as well so I can get the brittles made. and then I am done for now, and will call up our friends that I am gifting most of this to, for them to come up for a visit and take home their goodies. I won't get the dipped chocolates done before then, I will make those around New Year's and share with our new neighbor friends that lovessss dark chocolate anything.
I dug out the vintage very large board that was a wedding present from my brother (who sorry to say no longer speaks to us-sad) that I just love and is perfect for the roll out cookies. I have always had a very small kitchen with few places to work-so this board fits perfectly on top of the marble that sits on an island that my husband made for me years ago.
Here are a few photos
Of course I have a Huge collection of cookie cutters vintage to new, cookie stamps, cookie molds along with a collection of vintage wooden rolling pins-that I love using.
The first two photos are for the gingerbread cookies
Dark chocolate barks-I worked up two pounds in small batches to make several different toppings I ended up with six different toppings
pistachio and dried fruits
I'm sorry he's no longer with you. Love the cookies and good memories. I do a similar chocolate treat too. Though I make clusters. Same idea though. Great fun. Happy Christmas.
ReplyDeletethere are so many ways to make up chocolate treats-all so good it is sad that family doesn't want to speak to each other again-I reached out with no luck so won't again and he still lives in Indiana so won't bump into him either
DeleteHi Kathy, you have made me hungry here with all your cookies and choclate bark - yummy! I'm going to make mince pies today as presents for friends. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteoh awesome hope you share photos of your mince pies-happy baking-hugs
DeleteI still haven't baked any cookies...not sure who is going to eat them and I don't want to throw them away after the holidays. Love chocolate bark with pistachios!
ReplyDeletetoo much to toss for sure hugs
DeleteOh your cookies look yummy Kathy. I made some roll out doughs yesterday and then popped them in the fridge so I can make them later this week. I did make some peppermint white chip cookies and some orange zest chocolate chip cookies though. And your bark looks yummy too. It's fun to bake for the holidays for certain, isn't it? I didn't see the chiefs game but Mahone is always fun to watch. The ending of the Pats and Raiders game was quite a surprise, literally in the last few seconds though. Happy new week and happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGood morning Erika, your Christmas baking sounds delicious-so fun too. Mahones is really so fun to watch and I love the coach too. Happy new week and T hugs
DeleteAh Kathy your vintage cookie cutters have reminded me to go see where mine are located. Wow you are keeping so busy friend. That chocolate bark looks so good. I know it is to be frigid here Christmas weekend but 0 degrees beats ours. Try to keep warm dear friend. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos with us. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Debbie did you get snow yet? none here yet a good thing haha
DeleteOh my goodness! I think I just dropped down on Santa's bakery at the North Pole. Truly, Kathy, your kitchen surely is a magical place. Are you sure you don't have a team of elves helping you there? Wow!
DeleteHa ha you should write a book Mary-you are so good with words. this was all a bit much for one day, was trying to take advantage of our one sunny day so far I could use some of those elves for sure-smiles
DeleteI have just made myself a cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteI think one of your cookies would go very well with it :)
Have a good week.
Christmas is so close now.
All the best Jan
yes a cookie would go perfectly with your cup of tea-smiles
DeleteMerry Christmas
The reindeer cookie! You have a lot of cutters.
ReplyDeleteI do indeed-haha I am a collector of fun things like this but I do use them
DeleteYour cookie cutters are a LOT like mine that I inherited from my Grandmother. I have the bell and candy cane, the gingerbread guy, too. What fun to go through those cutters and use them. You always make great things at Christmas, dear. Thanks for sharing your Chiefs mug and your cookies and cookie cutters with us for T this week. Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays.
ReplyDeletethank you Elizabeth-I do love my cookie cutters, I have a large bag of vintage ones with the green and red handles-makes me happy to use them
DeleteYou did a lot of baking and making, Kathy, and everything looks so good. Can I come by? I haven't made a single cookie yet and I doubt that I will make any. Your chocolate bark looks super delicious, and I also like the animal cookie cutters. The wooden board seems to be perfect - I like to work on wooden boards as well.
ReplyDeleteYes-there are lots of goodies here-smiles
DeleteI love this wooden board very much-love that it is very large and even has a little back to it and it is also reversible.
Hey Kathy, I will start with the Chiefs. The game I saw was aganst Texas. OMG! The chiefs almost lost to the worst team in the league. Thank goodness for overtime. Now for the cookies. WOW! you do have some great cookie cutters. Well done on all of them. Sorry your brother doesn't speak to you. It is hard when families are split. On a good note stay warm and have a lovely evening. Could you send me the Chocolate Bark recipe? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI know they made allot of mistakes for sure, and too many penalties which isn't normal for them either. same happened the week before too they almost lost to Denver. thought it was strange that Texas was alternating with two quarterbacks playing the game-never saw that before.
DeleteIt is sad about my brother, we had reached out too-over something totally foolish as well I won't sweat about it any more.
we have storm coming in with 30 below wind chills brrr not looking forward to that right now. I emailed you about the chocolates
Wonderful you do all the baking for others, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteWhen the cold is gone I´ll bake for W. An onion cake :-)
Now that you mention. We always had a smalll kitchen, too.
Once we visited a place too expensive to buy with a dream kitchen. And ended up here.
Oh! "Cool" cookie cutters, esp the bear! A bison?! Never saw that here. And the wolf, so nice.
To be honest... just scrolling through my sweet tooth will hibernate till February! ;-)
Ingo lives on Stollen these days, ugh!
To a sweet Christmas to you and hugs, happy T-Day
The kitchen at the lake house at least as lots of cupboards even though its small and little counter space. so am thankful for that.
DeleteYes one can buy any theme of cookie cutters these days. I wanted a few Yellowstone animas especially a wolf. fun to use.
I love stollen too although I haven't tried baking up a gluten free version yet-I may bake one for us for Christmas-thanks
Merry Christmas
Everything looks delicious. Happy Holidays.

ReplyDeleteWe're expecting the same arctic blast, I think, though here in Memphis I think we're at the bottom edge. Stay safe!
Happy T Tuesday
this storm does sound a bit scary would be nice if the lake got missed the minus 30 below plus wind chills is a bit much. you keep safe as well-hugs
DeleteWow Kathy, those cookies look delicious, it must have taken you ages to get all that done. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

Those are a lot of cookie cutters. I don't have any because I don't make cookies. (Or perhaps it's the other way round?). And the ginger bread animals look really yummy.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day and have a lovely Cristmas.
Hugs,
Lisca
when I was a kid we always made lots of cut out cookies-so I fell in love with all the cutters-my Mom did not have that many-but I tend to collect things I like haha

Happy, Happy Christmas. Looks like a wonderful day. I make a similar chocolate thing only in clusters. Sometimes in slabs too. Both are so fun.

Those cookies looks so good and I love the array of cookie cutters that you have, they are all so wonderful and I bet your friends appreciate all your baking skills and hard work this Christmastime 😊. That chocolate bark looks so good too. We were gifted some huge marshmellows for Christmas so I'll be making Smores this Christmas - yum! Happy T Day wishes and Happy Holidays! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeletethank you Jo, yes I have been doing lots of baking for sure and making the bark too. oh your huge marshmallows sound perfect for smores-yum enjoy those.

Loved seeing all your cookies and bark. It looks delicious and has me drooling.
ReplyDeleteYou have a really neat vintage cookie cutter collection.
Happy Tea Day and Merry Christmas,
Kate
Thank you I do have a very large cookie cutter collection for different sesons of the year-I have always enjoyed using them Merry Christmas
DeleteHow fun, that you have so many cookie cutters. All your baked goods look so good! Is gingerbread naturally gluten free? Or you made it that way? I have family coming that are gluten free. So difficult to find things they can eat. I have just been looking for a gluten free dessert. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, I commented back on your blog but couldn't tell if it went through or not. I made these cookies gluten free by using Bob's red mill 1-1 gluten free flour-it's the best brand I have tried that really works well converting wheat flour in a recipe to this gluten free brand these cookies all turned really well and you can't tell they are gluten free
DeleteYou have an amazing collection of cookie cutters, I’m not able to see them but I can imagine,,, the chocolate sounds delicious, thinking if you, ❤️
ReplyDeleteGood morning thank you-I do love all my cutters and have lots from collecting over the years. these chocolate barks are fun to make and are nice gifts too hugs
DeleteI've had a baking day today- totally forgot to take photos! Your biscuits look great! I love your different chocolate barks - I made one today with a mixture of biscuit, cranberries and nuts. Still more to do but I have to fit in some shopping too! Happy T Day , Chrisx
