Another Surprise & Lemon Meringue Pie

I did make us our favorite lemon meringue pie a couple days ago. There is one piece left. We did share with a friend yesterday too.

This juicer is one of my first hand made pottery finds back in the early '70s I have always loved using this. I also used that tool in the back for the lemon peel

The ingredients-egg whites, egg yolks, lemon juice, lemon peel cornstarch and the water and sugar was on the stove

I made a ground pecans (homegrown from Arkansas) and gluten free graham cracker crust

I haven't been posting as much so I think I forgot to share a pretty card from Deb, which looks pretty on the mantel

A dear friend messaged me I had a surprise package coming in the mail-Wow this was a total surprise-a bundle of hand dyed fabrics and hand dyed threads. all different sizes and textures of cloth-Loving it.  Some of these may find their way into my little sashiko bags that I have not started as of yet.

This pretty piece was on the bottom

Thank you so much dear friend. (I didn't get permission yet to share the name of who I am thinking she would rather be incognito-smiles)

I have always enjoyed caramel apples during the fall season, I used to make my own. Now I do enjoy it the "senior way" haha  I made up a bowl last night. This is one large apple sliced thin, with sprinkled pecans, and drizzled on top warmed caramel sauce.

Happy Friday and Weekend.  I will be  making up homemade pizzas tomorrow and inviting the couple over that loved the pizzas I made awhile ago

    1. Hugs-I was really blown away when I opened this up-I have never tried dying threads before-so that was special too

    2. I dye a lot of my fabrics using Staz-on reinkers. I dye lace, trim, and even flowers that way. That's why I like everything white when I start. I've even dyed a spool of thread using turmeric, but it didn't permeate through the entire spool. I've never been any good at using the dyes that require all those chemicals that require a mask. I may try to dye some threads the next time I get the urge to dye again. I KNOW you will put these fabrics and threads to good use.

    3. the synthetic dyes I had used on cottons for quilting especially I bought from Dharma online and they were the procion dyes I did really enjoy those but you right you are suppose to wear a mask when measuring out the dye. the mordants used for natural dyes-I used only the safe mordants. dying is a very fun and creative process for sure I miss it sometimes. when I did the eco printed papers I made my own iron mordant for those and I did use a little rite dye in the steaming water that I had seen in a video that really brought out the colors on the papers and that one is a pretty safe dye too.
these are embroidery threads and looks like the dyer open up the skeins and tied them and dip in the dye.
I am thinking many of these will find their way in the little sashiko bags-hoping to get to those this winter

  8. I have been kind of out of the loop the past couple of days and see that I have missed a lot of goings on there at the lake. I agree with Bb & E, that pie looks "seriously wonderful." It surely ranks near the top in beauty, and I am sure also in deliciousness. What a gorgeous baking dish you chose for this pie. In fact, I am a bit envious of your beautiful pottery pieces. I love Debs card! I am sure you will have fun with those fun pieces of cloth and threads.

  13. I have a street find from the 70´s, electrical - and loads of work! Yours is much better for making juice!
But it´s so stylish, I keep it!
I did a lot of baking yesterday, too.

    Yay for pressies!

I still have two old apples.
We think both, Ingo and I, have too much stress.
I baked so much, the apples would have had some space, but I forgot. Shoot.

Hugs to the lake, and to yummy food!
