When I saw this Missouri winter scene in a magazine this month-I thought perfect for my journal page, and the theme a Single Flower over at AJJ.
Most of us have had a rough winter and are waiting for Spring to be officially here on the 20th of March. No flowers or buds here just yet but a single flower will give us hope and have us smiling. That was my thoughts for this page.
The other day I got the taste for chex mix-so I picked up gluten free cheerios, rice and corn chex, gluten free pretzels, and gluten free mini cheese crackers. Made a few batches bagged it up and put most of it in the freezer. One batch I added these rice crackers to the mix when I ran out of the cheese crackers
Happy Weekend everyone.
You really brightened up that cold looking scene! Your chex mix looks good even though I have never heard of one before!
ReplyDeleteWith horrible rain outside I imagine that Spring is going to be very welcome when it arrives!
Hopefully it won't be long before you can take a snack and a drink outside to your table!
Enjoy your weekend, Chrisx
Thank you Chris. chex mix is a brand of cereal and it comes in wheat or gluten free rice or corn. then I usually pick another gluten free cereal like cheerios or kix the recipe says to add in nuts, or another cracker-so one can choose what cereals they wish to use. then you melt butter add onion powder, garlic powder, worsterher sauce blend mix over the cereals and in a very slow oven bake for an hour stirring every 15 minutes. its a big hit here during the winter holidays and football games.
DeleteI hope you get some real flowers soon. It is a very slow start here and we had hail this afternoon too.
ReplyDeleteThe buddleia and the butterfly look very colourful against the snow.
Thanks very much for joining in with our challenge at AJJ.
the hail was quite the surprise especially since it was raining with sunshine haha. am anxious to see blooming trees and bushes here in Missouri soon
Deletethe gluten free pretzels tastes just like the regular ones too. It is a a nice snack-I make big batches and then put them in quart ziplok bags and freeze-out of sight is a good thing haha
ReplyDeleteWonderful page Kathy. The contrast of the beautiful bloom and the winter scene really works. Thanks for sharing with Sheila's challenge at AJJ. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThank you Erika
DeleteSince I eat gf, I am always looking for quick snacks. I have gotten so many good ideas from you here. I am definitely in the mood for flowers. Just a single one will do. Your rainy day pictures on the lake show what a perfect day it was to stay in and read a good book.
ReplyDeleteYes rainy days are perfect for reading or arts or crafts. I always liked chex mix I don't put in the seasoned salt that is in the recipe-everything has a little salt so need to add more
DeleteYour journal looks so beautiful in the weather and lets hope that spring will come soon!
ReplyDeleteWith me. it is also rainy and stormy.
Have a beautful weekend, hug Elke
thank you so much Elke-hugs
DeleteVery nice journal pages! I really need to get back to working on my journals or any art. Keeping up with the twins is about all I can handle right now.
ReplyDeletethese are quick little art projects that I enjoy doing. If something pops in my mind then I try to do a journal page. this book is almost filled now just about 5 more pages to go
Deletethat would be a big job taking care of the twins-do you have them every day?
I have them 5 days a week. It's easier now the weather has been nicer and we can play outside.

DeleteWonderful artwork. That hail storm looked unpleasant. After a brief warm up here in Connecticut, arctic air has come back to the region. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteoh ugh and double ugh for arctic weather returning I hope we don't get that cold stay safe and warm
DeleteI have NO idea how I missed this, but I was playing catch-up at AJJ when I found this post I hadn't seen before. The flower is a beautiful contrast to the snow. It's also a joy to see you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey using Sheila's theme.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved chex mix, but I don't get the gluten free. So glad you are able to find so many gluten free items to make it.
Sad to see that hail. Thankfully, that is one thing we have missed so far this year in Wichita.
Thanks Elizabeth. the hail thankfully melted pretty fast
