T Stands for Tuesday & Photos at the Lake

Another week is upon us, which brings us to our T day with hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth. You are welcome to join us, just share a photo with a drink.

  No art to share again.
Larry is getting better, out of the wheel chair and using crutches now to get around in the house. He is still in allot of pain where the heavy tool box hit him.
We have physical therapy coming now-they do allot of exercises. and we have a nurse coming too once a week-don't know if that is necessary but probably comes with the in home care.

This morning early I went grocery shopping, and wanted to check out a new to me store-Sav a Lot. I mostly wanted to check out their meats as I had inquired and it is all USA sourced. However when I got there-No beef at all, no pork, I did buy a nice package of chicken tenderloins, their homemade sausage, and bacon-that is made in Kentucky. When I got home I sent them an email if they were all USA or owned by China (which I refuse to buy from any more-especially foods) and he came back "We are USA" So I was pleased.

Off to Wal Mart and Wow very little meat there as well. We don't eat allot of meat any more, so a little goes a long way for us. Mostly a large salad and a little meat of some sort, some side veggies.  They only had 4 packages of lean hamburger one pound size so I bought two. They had a big package of pork steaks which I like to throw in the crock pot-always very tender. I was surprised hardly any meat in their cases.  I did find beautiful fresh fruits-so happy about that-pineapple, huge strawberries, blueberries, red raspberries.

I did drive to the woods house one day last week-to meet friends that we gave our commercial freezer to, and I dug up several herbs-peppermint, spearmint, apple, ginger mints. I still need to dig up my madder plants (dye plant) and we are going to take apart the two raised beds that Larry had made me-and put them down in front of that rock wall where the herb plants are. I will replant my madder in one of those and use the other one for small veggie plants.
I do have an animal of some sort that insists on walking in my copper pot at night-he broke down one of the apple mint plants-Larry thinks it could be a ground hog. nay need to set up a trap and relocate him/her.

We did have a lovely full moon a few days ago

We have been seeing baby ducks the last few days-so sweet

A few minutes ago we saw a pair of Canada geese with their 4 little ones swim by.
We are really enjoying the views of the lake.

For my drink reference I have been brewing up my decaf coffee in my pour over-which I really love the flavor of.

I hope to be more relaxed this week to get involved in some art projects, and I still have my closet curtain to sew up.

Happy T everyone, hope this finds you all well and safe.

  1. Oh Kathy i'am so happy to hear that Larry is doing better! I know you have been so worried and so have i. I would love to have a collection of mints one day...I don't know particularly why except i like to crush a leaf and smell it..lol My grandmother used to bring my grandpa a glass of iced tea with a few sprigs of mint in it when he was working in his garden or yard.. I guess just fond memories... But they have so many different varieties now.. Hugs! deb

  2. I'm so glad your hubby is doing better-I hope his pain will get less very soon. I can't wait to see your madder plants. I've been buying frozen turkey breasts from Walmart-they are delicious 10 pounders so lots of meat there. We can both do fine with just turkey and chicken. Using more beans these days! Take care my friend!

    1. Thank you-I was looking at those turkey breasts Larry's favorite part of the poultry-I ended up getting the pork steaks instead-we like beans too-I had been canning pinto-black beans, and navy beans-need to do that again-cheaper that way too and no salt added

  3. Wishing your hubby continued health improvement. Hubby and I eat so little meat anymore that it doesn't bother me one bit. I've always been more vegetarian/pescatarian and have been getting closer to vegan the last few years. Glad you were able to find a few things though.
Your lake views are always so inviting and lovely. And the critter? Could it be a raccoon? My friend spotted a raccoon chewing at her hummingbird feeder at her deck last year...
    happy T day!

  4. I'm glad Larry is getting better, but I am sorry he is still in a lot of pain. You are SO lucky to get in-home therapy. You must have great insurance.

We used to have an Aldi and a Save-a-lot in the same shopping complex. Then Save-a-lot moved to the east side of town. Three Aldis in Wichita, but only one Save-a-lot. Prices are comparable, at least they were when Save-a-lot was in my neighborhood. The Save-a-lot in my neighborhood sold lots of Mexican food, but I have no idea if it still does now that it's moved. I guess you have to know your customers.

Sorry to read some critter has gotten into your copper pot, but delighted to read you have brought some of your herbs from the Woods House.

Great way to make coffee. I know I did that when I had no electricity one T Tuesday. Thanks for sharing and for all the lovely photos of the lake, too, for T this almost Tuesday.

  5. I know what you mean about not finding meat on the shelves. It wasn't even this bad at the beginning of quarantine. The only thing missing then was toilet paper.
Animals in your plants is such a pain especially since you spent all that money and time. Have you tried those Have a Heart traps?
Hope you are able to get back to crafting soon.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  6. There was meat when I grocery shopped but the prices had jumped up a lot. But good news your husband is getting a bit back on his feet. And did you have any second thoughts about moving when you went back to the woods house? I hope you hae a great T day Kathy. Hugs-Erika

    1. I am glad there are not shortages everywhere.
actually when I went back-for the first time I was really happy we moved to the lake house. we were sooo isolated there-we had 300 acres in the woods-horrible internet-no wifi-no streaming, and with this covid we would have seen no one-at least here on the lake we see boats with people and we can wave at them-very rural here at the lake house but near as isolated except for being an hour away from all of our friends

  7. Baby steps, huh. Painful baby-steps, but progress at least.
I feel with you. When my Hubby is in pain... it´s awful.

Oh, you still have Wal Mart. Left Germany after a short visit ages ago. I liked it.
Pineapple, how about a culinary journey to Hawaii? ;-)

Oh, I love your lake-pics, and even more with babies!

Oh, that coffee. I hate the little pieces that make it through and eeeek. Maybe German paper isn´t as good, happened again and again!

A happy T-day to you and all the best for your Hubby. Hugs from here.

    1. Hi Iris, yes always a painful process getting back before the injury.
I love a fresh pineapple, I haven't had any problems with the coffee paper filters so far-I would not like coffee grounds in my coffee either-I am off to make me a pot this morning.
      Happy T Hugs

  9. I'm pleased to hear your husband is on the mend, such a worry in these stressful times.

Funnily we haven't had shortages of meat at all, our area grows most of the veg that is taken to the UK so I guessed we wouldn't have a shortage of them although last week they oly had a couple of iceberg lettuces, loads of that prepacked chopped stuck, goes off so quickly and expensive.
toilet rolls are back so I bought a pack, the first as I had plenty even before the lockdown, milk was short at first but not now and funnily enough unsalted butter keeps running out, must be all that baking that's being done!!
I found I had six tubes of toothpaste! I got obsessed at running out as I can't think of anything worse that not cleaning my teeth.
Keep safe and Happy T Day

    1. I think the meat shortages happened here do to some of the processing plants being shut down do to covid outbreaks and they had to totally sanitize them-
I always keep extra of everything here too-we have always lived rural and a drive to the stores so it's been a habit of mine for years. I was glad I found a big pack of sanitizing wipes in my cupboards-as still can't buy them.
      funny about the toothpaste-hugs

  10. I'm glad your husband's health is improving. I saw some news articles about there will be beef, pork, and chicken shortages due to covid-19 shutting down the meat packing plants or some such. Just in time for grilling season. :-( Great photo of the full moon. Happy T-Day!

  11. It was good to read that your husband is doing well and getting home care.
The photo of the lake looked lovely and the sweet duck family must be good to see swimming past.
I couldn't comment about meat supplies in the UK as for weeks now we have had store deliveries of groceries and our sons getting extras, the freezer has empty spaces now, but it will last out a while longer. Its flour that is hard to buy, the bakeries are okay as they order huge sized bags and there is bread on the shelves
    Happy T day wishes Kathy.
    Stay safe.

    1. The flour is in short supply here too as is yeast-so its a good thing that families are baking cooking together. I always keep flour in the freezer and I don't bake as much as I used to so I am good that way.
      you stay safe as well-hugs

  12. Being out on a lake must be very different now with the shut-down, though I understand that Missouri has lifted the restrictions, volunteering to show the rest of us what happens. I went to camp on Lake of the Ozarks when I was a child, but haven't seen it since then.

    be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    1. It is beautiful here-we just recently moved here from living on 300 acres in the woods-so this is a huge change-neighbors everywhere haha
Missouri has done well with the re opening-most do as asked buy still many of the younger people refuse to wear masks-so I wear my when in the stores. Lake in the Ozarks has really grown its tourism since the early days. thanks for visiting

  14. I'm sorry to hear Larry is still in a lot of pain, but with physio therapy and the will to get better, he will slowly improve.
Luckily no shortages here. I buy from a local butcher. But we went to town yesterday to the big supermarket and there was plenty of meat of all sorts. There don't seem to be any shortages here. We even had toilet paper when everybody was panic buying. The only thing in short supply is flour, but yesterday I bought a pack of 5 kilos. (huge) which will last me til Christmas I'm sure!
How cute to see those little ducklings and goslings. And a beautiful photo of the moon. I never seem to manage it.
    Happy T-Day,

    1. My camera does not take night photos of the moon very well-so I was thrilled to see this pretty full moon over the lake.
so glad you found some flour-I always keep flour in the freezer too.
I think there were problems with the packing plants here with covid-so they had to close them down for the workers to get well and disenfect the plants.
      Happy T Hugs Kathy

  15. I'm happy to hear your hubby is improving and getting PT help at home. That'll make recovery faster :) Your moon photo is a stunner! There are meat shortages, and I was surprised to hear we're exporting meat to China! There are limits on how much meat you can buy at Kroger. Happy T Tuesday!

    1. I was surprised there were no limits in the two stores I shopped at.
wal mart finally took the 1 dozen of eggs away. I think the trade agreement may have had something to do with meat going to china.

  17. So glad you are feeling a bit recovered from the stress, Kathy. We used to enjoy seeing the baby ducklings following along when we had a bay condo. They used to shelter under our boat dock. So sweet! Please be careful out and about. It seems the virus is still everywhere.

  18. I am very glad that your husband is improving Kathy, you have to be patient with the recoveries, they are slow.
Happy T-day! We also eat less meat, more fish and fruit and vegetables, it is healthier.
I really like your photos of the full moon, and those of the baby ducks, they are so sweet.
I hope you have a nice afternoon, stay safe and

  19. So glad that Larry is improving and that your getting the medical help needed, sending get well wishes! We've managed to get most things from the shops except flour so I'm limiting my baking at the moment, we had pancakes/crepes which uses little flour and goes a long way 😀. I bet your garden is looking lovely with all those herbs and wow, the moon over the lake is gorgeous! Happy T Day wishes! Take care! Hugs, Jo x

How great that you brought some plants back, I hope you find out who your night time visitor is! Your lake views are great! I really can recommend Linda's recipe! Have a great week, Happy T day! Chrisxx
