Welcome November-Updated

Wow we are closing in on the end of this year with holidays and soon to welcome in a new year-Wow is right Smiles

This has been a long year for me being Larry's caregiver since October 2023 but it has also gone fast too.  I have just three more blocks on the bag handles to finish slow stitching-and then I can hand sew the bag together to see how it looks. I am looking forward to the finish to see how this will turn out.

Today we will be much cooler-in the low '60's F We had gotten spoiled with a warm October Most of the leaves are down now do to a lot of windy days and we did get one night of hard rain this week.

On a sad note:  it is good that I am still approving comments as I have been getting hate comments now for a few weeks-so if that person is reading this --your comments will Not be published-and I don't read them in their entirety   No reason for this hatred and you hide behind anonymous .  I am thinking this person is not reading my blog posts but decided to choose me for their hate speech-I needed to let this be known was happening.

Oh and I wanted to also share that I just set up a duck-grown in the USA with nothing added-in a brine this morning-after this it will go into the smoker. Larry enjoys doing that, he'll need to show me how to work the smoker though.

The last few whole chickens and turkeys I have purchased are not worth eating any more unless you can find a local farmer that raises them.  I looked at the ingredients in the turkeys recently and the store brand had two lines of chemicals added, and the whole chickens are really horrible eats these days as well. This duck I found at Wal mart was raised in the USA nothing added but a low salt water solution. It looked really good out of the bag. .So now it is in the brine of water, canning salt, pickling spice, and organic brown sugar.  Will keep you posted how this turned out.

   Welcome November Everyone

    1. Good morning Valerie, I agree everyone should have the right to free speech and is so lacking in our country especially over the last 9-10 years=not acceptable.
      Hugs dear friend

  2. I get those too, and don't publish them. Sometimes I think they are bots that just pick up a word or phrase and auto type. They have to be -- no one has that much time. But I'm sorry you have to deal with it. Your duck sounds like it will be fabulous!

  5. Yeah they are killing us with all of the chemicals in our foods. Its seems I get the crazies when I post political words. I always delete them since it is my blog not theirs. From mid seventy degree weather now to 34....November is here now and so is the colder weather probably. Hope you have a great weekend and tell us how your brine turned out. Janice

  6. I'm sorry there is some nasty person thinking it's OK to send hate out. I'm with you, I moderate all of my comments. You are too good of a person to even look at that crap. I agree the store bought turkeys and chickens are full of who know what. Sorry I haven't been around much but as you know caregiver has little time for much. We are getting into a routine butt...... Sending you and Larry all the best with lots of blessings.

    1. Thank you Nicole Being hateful and unkind is just unacceptable online and in person. I just had to delete a long time friend last night-her post was so offensive At my age now I just don't need that in my life any more.
Yes caregiving takes it's toll-but I would never have Larry in a nursing home-horrible places-and they usually don't pay attention to dietary needs. He has gotten a lot of medical care that comes to the house this past year. Larry just started up physical therapy again.
Sending love and healing prayers for you both hugs

  7. Thank you for your greetings, dear Kathy.
I look forward to your bag and hope you enjoy working on it further.
I finished sewing a bag today and then want to move on to Christmas items :-)))
Exactly - the sun is shining and the autumn leaves are still on the trees - but the year is slowly but surely coming to an end...
I also buy my meat from the farm - I ordered a goose and get chicken, goat and lamb - whenever they slaughter (not when I want)
and I also buy all of my grains for the bread from the farmer... just like the apples.
    All the best to you.
A warm greeting to you from Viola

  9. Good grief is right! Why can't people just get along and accept other people's point of view? I have friends on both sides of the aisle and seem to get along just fine. Some people are just plain nuts (on both sides)!

  10. There was a "lady" who had bad comments all the time. On many a blog. Some people must be sad/sick/whatever.
I think I deleted her comments or just didn´t responding and then she gave up.
