T Stands for Tuesday & This & That With Lots of Photos

T Day is here again-every Tuesday we link up with hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth to share a beverage related post-We all must share a photo of whatever our beverage is. You are most welcome to join in the fun-find link in my right hand column.

This past week has been another very up and down weather event-seems to be the pattern for February this year. I needed to pick up some things in town this morning and didn't realize it was only in the very low 20's brrrrr, took my car a bit to warm up and get the ice off the windows. Now late afternoon it is sunny and warm-feels like high 50s f or warmer. lol Tomorrow promises to be even warmer so we are headed to the lake house to work. However, by the coming weekend we will be very cold again- in the teens

Last week I was debating with myself if I wanted to buy more seed and corn for the wildlife. I usually stop feeding end of March depending on the weather or earlier. I decided not to get any more-- than over the weekend I thought well maybe one more bag of corn -lol I only have about 5 days left of the feed.
Well my decision was made for me. Friday into all night and then a bit in the morning Saturday the MFA burned to the ground. This is where farmers and ranchers mostly, buy feed for their livestock. Here is a link    I am glad I was not in town when this fire hit-a huge loss to this community. I am sure they will rebuild-just a matter of time and they are needed.

I worked a few days on my August 2018 pages

This is the lay out so far-nothing stitched down yet on the left side-but some on the right side

(just click photos for full page view)

The piece with the flowers-I stamped on to a piece of cotton quilt fabric, then grabbed some gel pens and markers to color in, added some stickers, and sewed on the little fairy  This reminded me of my pretty zinnias.

Blogging art friend Barbara and I chat online, and send each other things from time to time-this was a piece of her handmade paper that she wrote a note on-so I wanted to add it to my journal

A few lake house photos-you can tell from the snow, or not snow that we were there at different times- during the same week though

This is the bedroom closet-the doors were horrible so we took those off and I am going to add a spring rod and make or buy curtains. This purple has been really difficult to cover, even with the kilnz first-and this wall on top needed to have that wall stuff put on it-sanded down to cover up a bunch of holes-but I really didn't want to go through all of that-I mostly wanted it to be clean and then fresh paint. I guess I was being too lazy but we have ourselves on a timeline that we are trying to keep.

The last time we were at the lake house on Sunday-the water was really rough, allot of wind-so I was trying to capture that in these photos

This is the view out our bedroom window

I saw several canada geese pairs swimming by

Remember last week I had shared that I learned about a new blue color? The first color in 200 years. I think that is so amazing.
Anyways Crayola bought the rights to use the color and they have crayons so far with this new blue. I went on their site and decided to buy a box with the 4 bonus crayons with this new blue. They were not selling the blue crayons by itself.
I want to do some art playing around with crayons sometime this year, so I can use the rest of these crayons-I want to try that batik technique.

I was surprised with all the neat offerings on Crayola's site-I wanted some oil pastels again-they work nice on fabrics, and they had things on sale too

So I took advantage of sales, free shipping, and new things-and I loved the tins that some of them came in

I also bought a cookbook I have been wanting-if you love to read cookbooks this is really a beautiful book-I have the kindle version but it is black and white, and I just really wanted the book. The bone broth recipes in this book was worth it-that was a new to me on the process. I have been following the price and finally found a good one on ebay

Saturday we went down to the river for a yearly event. a jump in that has been going on for over 30 years. The weekend before it was too icey so was called off. The kids love the brownies that I bring, and we also donated some items for their raffle. They do this event in honor of a friend that died too young-and in his honor they give to local charities-this year it was for the food bank.

We were one of the first there-it was a beautiful day for this event. It ended up we had friends coming over to visit, and this event was later that usual-so missed out on the food and to watch the kids jump in the river-sigh
But it was all good and fun while we were there

Can I offer you a piece of cake-hot out of the oven??  It does have carbs but I have not made one of these upside down cakes in awhile. On top of the butter-coconut sugar, and fresh blueberries I added ground cashews-that was really a nice addition to this cake.

(don't look at all that dust on my computer-I just put it there for a quick photo lol

My beverage share--While I am typing up my post today I grabbed a bottle of Ice-a sparkling black raspberry with 0 sugar, 0 salt, 0 artificial anything-this brand comes in many different flavors.
It's funny how taking the photo at my computer desk-the screen looks purple lol

Happy T everyone

T Stands for Tuesday & Winter is Back

Tuesdays is when we gather for T with friends and a beverage related post.
You are most welcome to join us-find our hostess Bleubeard and Elizabeth's link in my right hand column

We were spoiled for sure enjoying those spring like temperatures for a few days-but winter has returned and is staying around this time-with snow on the ground, ice in the mornings, and just cold-I am going through the propane gas this month faster than I want to. We are staying in this winter pattern for awhile now-well I know it is still winter-but it is slowing us down for outdoor work at the lake house.

This week I thought I would share photos of the deer visitors-they are always so fun-and lots of birds too with this snow on the ground now.

just click for full size photos

I found some corn on the cob that had been in the freezer too long so I put it out for the wildlife-a nice treat

A few days ago I posted about a book I was reading Blue set in the 18th century and was a spy type read about the newest blue color and the fight to get it. This was a very good read based on historical facts.
I wanted to thank the two commenters letting me know that a new blue has been discovered after 200 years-I would think this would have been huge news but I had never read about this.
Crayola bought the rights to it. Find the new blue in crayons here So I wanted to thank you both again and of course I had to buy it lol  I bought the crayon box that had 4 crayons of this new blue. I hadn't searched out crayola lately and they have a great site-I picked up a few other things too-to expand my art a bit.

For my beverage share this morning-I am enjoying a cup of my chicory beverage with whipped cream on top.  very good lol

I have been picking up in two's a few plates and bowls designed by the Pioneer Woman-I really love the flowers they are so pretty-my go to dishes right now

Happy T everyone!

Gorgeous Day at the Lake House Today-- Photos Overload

Thursdays is usually the day the guys work up at the lake house, only day one of them can work. This week we were to have Wednesday and Thursday as warmer spring like days so we all worked both days.

The drainage project has been a huge job-jack hammering out the concrete, digging and more digging the ditch out-then laying the drainage pipes and adding stone-we made allot of progress this week.

Hubs can't do this kind of physical work any more so we are paying two friends to help with that, and he takes them out for a hot lunch around 1 or 2 pm-which sorry I never think to take photos of.
I worked on cleaning wood floors, finished scraping glue off the bedroom floor, and I was going to grout the new tiles Hubs put in it-but we forgot to grab a sponge so I only did a small area to see if I could do it with cotton rags-not so good.

I took a walk out front by the lake-and it has dropped allot-they lower the lake during this time period-and many around the lake have mud at their docks-that's the main reason we chose this property-two lots wide and deep water since we are on a point. Loving it!! I walked the width of our property borders on the lake and was surprised how large it is-this property is a pie shape-wide at the lake and goes narrow to the road-and it is on a hill but not as many steps as most homes on the lake

So I grabbed the camera this post will have lots of photos-so click on photo to enlarge to full size and better viewing

looking to the left of the deck

more straight ahead view-our boat dock

another view to the left

view to the right

the water level is usually just at the grass-now you can see the shelf rocks

caught this boat going by today

Close up of the exposed shelf rock now

the bedroom floor-no more urine odor and most of the glue off

I am not into wallpaper really but this is the bottom half of the bedroom-I will live with it-kinda reminds me of my Grandma on the farm

This is that area from the kitchen area into the living room and wall of windows-where we took out those stone planters-we still need to stain the wood in those two areas. Hubs figured out a way to have enough tiles from the kitchen to go across-with a few we found in the basement, and the darker tiles are left overs from our kitchen here-so I like that

This is a cool cabinet that goes with the kitchen cabinets, the previous owners really abused this poor cabinet and took it out of the kitchen where it belongs-Hubs is fixing it so I can use it for cans of foods etc.

This area is just across from the above photo-where the refrigerator was. this was really a mess behind here-they did not apply the wallpaper properly, the electric here is a major mess-so Hubs took this all apart and will add wood paneling-then put the frig back, and with his changes the above cabinet will fit too

This wood stove area is across from the wall of windows. This needs to have work done to the chimney before it is safe to use. To the right is the perfect spot for my 30" weaving loom-facing the lake-awesome!!

Wow so spoiled-we actually have a closet for coats in this house

Drainage project in the front of the house

They designed this shoot to get the stone down to the ditch-so clever-and saved their backs and was faster too

On the way home Hubs said your eagle friend was here for awhile-same tree-watching the guys work. and he saw deer prints on the side of the house. I will look for those next time

Today it got to the mid 60s f felt so wonderful and little wind with lots of sunshine. Tonight though winter weather arrives-ice, snow, wind, cold--such up and downs in weather extremes this year.

Happy weekend everyone-stay warm and safe if you are in this winter storm
