Good Morning

 Good Morning Friends,

Wanted to drop in and say Hello.  We are back to extreme humidity and very hot temperatures again-last week and continues on. July will close out being a very hot one.

Wow August will be coming in this week-can you believe it??  For being stuck in the house this summer, the months continue to fly by for me. So much to do this coming fall too before winter-hoping we have a cool fall but knowing this part of Missouri, some years with this hot of a summer with lots or rainfall we could go right into very cold.

Since I don't watch regular news shows anymore I totally forgot about our Missouri primary election. There have been so many campaign ads that reminded me. Voting is next week Tuesday.. We will be voting new everything this year beginning with the governor.  I need to look into getting Larry a mail in to vote for November.  I found a site online that shows you what is on the ballot and everyone was asked questions to answer and then you can print off your choices. There are two amendments to the Missouri constitution that I do not understand that I will look into before voting.

Are you enjoying the Olympics in  Paris?  I love sports so I look forward to the Olympics.

I enjoyed the opening ceremony on the seine river, but was appalled by their mockery of the last supper-which I read some say it was something else from their French history-but whatever it was-not fit for children to view. Thought it was too long as well-I watched it live-- was almost 5 hours long. It was a lot of drama and anticipation.  I found the games on nbc and usa networks-which I record live instead of watching the summery on nbc's evening show. I found archery-very exciting, shooting, surfing huge waves in Tahiti, equestrian and of course gymnastics. The swimming events are just not the same without Phelps and I do enjoy beach volleyball too but have not enjoyed that this year as much-the USA team in my opinion is not as good or as fun to watch as past great teams. So I am not watching those games anymore.

Anyone paying extra for Peacock?  This is nbc's streaming channel that seem to push a lot of prime sports on to-I am paying enough each month for directv's streaming service so I won't be paying for more addons.

We are enjoying streaming tv better-as we can add apps-new to us since we don't use cell phones. You Tube is full of all sorts of programming now including old and free movies. I can also view my subscriptions on the large tv now instead of on my computer screen-I like that. A friend told us about a free app Tubi which is loaded with all sorts of free shows as well.  Streaming seems to be the future now.

I don't know how so many people watch all of these shows on their cell phones instead of on a nice tv screen.

I am still watching KC Royals baseball games too-I record most shows now-and then buzz through the commercials.  More enjoyable and shorter viewing. The Royals this year are trying to get into the playoffs.

Well enough about sports, sorry about that if you are not into sports-my husband doesn't watch any sports at all.  I am working on the same embroidery panel-I am not liking this one as much as others I have done. Usually all the motifs have the X's and the background with nothing-this is set up the opposite. I am finding it difficult to add in the X's where they are mot marked. The large wolf is about half finished now.

No photos to share so will share a Snoopy-hoping I didn't bore you too much.

Lemon Meringue Pie

It is around 5:30 pm now-and my pie is out of the oven.

Recently I started using this larger glass pie pan I like it better. I added extra whites to make sure I had enough. For the crust I ground up raw organic english walnuts and gluten free graham crackers. Added the butter and a little sugar.

Once totally cooled I will store in the refrigerator tonight-and we may just have a slice for breakfast-smiles

Good Morning Friday

   Happy Friday and Weekend,

My area of the Ozarks-Missouri is having a cool down-however in full sun it is still super hot for me. When we retired to this area back in the fall of 2003 it took me some time to get used to the hot sun. We are closer to the sun then when we were in northern Illinois. I went out at  6:30 am today to start weed eating our tall and thick grass. It was still wet but got quite a bit done. Came in for an hour break and then went out for another hour. Very hot-now in the full sun, and my back cant take more than 2 hours at a time-with all that leaning over.

This week I called about one of those outdoor seats on rails that ride over the steep steps. Of course they would not give us any idea of the prices-so one of their sales persons will be coming out this morning. Larry thinks it could be super expensive but  you don't know 'til we find out. Also these steps really narrow up at the top so not sure how that will work either.

I was also thinking depending on the cost I may just set up a go fund me page to help raise money. Do you think that would be too weird to do? I have contributed to several in the past.

With the coming election, I am praying our country will come together and with kindness and caring about the future for us and our great country.

I have those fresh lemons out of the frig-so perhaps later today I can tackle making the lemon meringue pie. smiles

I don't do games like many do on their computers or smart phones-but I do like puzzles over on jigsaw planet. I am working on this one now.

This morning I found this on Facebook-this really hits home in our world today We need to research everything now to find out what the truth is these days.

  Enjoy your day

Another Hot Weather Day

Like allot of us in the states this year-Missouri has had a very hot and humid summer so far, along with more than usual rain throw in. Today looks like a really really hot day-found this state map on Facebook yesterday These are the predicted temps with the humidity figured in

After today more rain and a cool down-hopefully I can back to grass cutting after the rain this week.  I did go fresh food shopping yesterday as soon as the stores opened at 7 am and it was already very hot and humid. Even more so by the time I got back home and unloaded everything down the hill and steps. I figure this is my exercise as we are pretty much stuck in the house these days..

This weather has really gotten to my allergies and Larry too-we both have one ear full of drainage and pain. I keep an herbal Oreganol-oil of oregano around as a form of antibiotic. It keeps things in check usually.  Still too difficult for Larry to get up the stairs into a car etc to see a doctor.

We have new health insurance this year provided by AT&T when I retired with them back in 2003. It is much less costly per month and they seem to be more "hands on"  This morning a nurse practitioner is coming out to go through our medicines. They called several times as I saw no need for this. The insurance will give us  each $50.00 for agreeing to this service. Larry says well that's $100.00 towards groceries. So will see how that goes.

Last night I did finish all those X's on the first of 6 of the wolf blocks. What is left to do is a running type stitch that goes around the whole design to stitch and also around the stars etc.  I was looking at a piece my Mom had started-that I had finished the embroidery on, and turned into a pillow  It is by the same embroider company--and the trees etc have that outline stitch but then are filled in with the X's in different colors-green for trees etc.  So I am going to get out my ruler and see if I can do a better layout for the  X's inside the trees, wolf, stars and moon. I will like it more than just leaving all that white fabric showing, especially the wolf. We will see how that goes. I am treating this first block as my learning piece.

I have been wanting to make us a from scratch lemon meringue pie, but it is either raining or too humid to make the meringue. Hoping to be able to make it later in the week.

  Happy new week everyone

Prayers for our Country

It is time to pray for our country and start caring and loving one another again.

The lies, corruption, and especially the false rhetoric from the left and the news media needs to stop. Since the days of Obama's presidency 'til  present day-what has happened to us as a society?  Very few civil conversations occur for discussing one's viewpoints on things-you either agree or you are shut down instantly. I am a senior now so I see the changes in our society.

I wonder what the world is thinking right now about our country??

I remember when John F Kennedy was assassinated, I was in 6th or 7th grade at the time, and we were all crying in the hallways and shocked. I will never forget that day.

I was watching the KC Royals game this afternoon that was not going so well, so I looked for Newsmax to watch the Trump rally. I watched the attempted assassination live  If Trump would have tilted his head just slightly he would have been assassinated this afternoon.

I believe God saved Trump today-to save our once great country.

I will be praying  to save our forefather's vision of our country and it's citizens, I believe we need to reflect and turn to God

Just Dropping in

Good morning and Hello dear Friends,

Nothing much new here. We had a little rain again so that has delayed my cutting grass-of course it is still growing with the rains and the heat ugh.

I had one of those nights last night, where I did not get a good sleep so I stayed up and did a lot of reading. I have been catching up on books to read that are on my Kindle. I am reading Shanna Hatfield right now-I always enjoy her stories-clean romances and her books are all different.. She is an author with a lot of stories in her head. Smiles  Each book at the end she shares a recipe that was included in the story, and she tells about happenings in her life or how she came about with the plot details-I find that interesting.

I am waiting for a call back from Larry's surgeon-from his fall back in October. End of last year he ordered x rays  from a company that does that in your home. However, they never got back to us with the results-although the tech said he is not supposed to say much he told us it all looked like it was healing and no lose screws, bent rod etc. He said also it would take at least a year or more for the bone to grow around the rod. Larry's femur bone was shattered not just broken.

Larry is not progressing so I need some assurance that this is normal for all of his health issues.  So this has me down in spirit, hoping they will return my call. I asked for an e visit over the computer she said she didn't think they did that-I asked her to find out. Larry has e visits with his heart doctor all the time now.

While I am typing this I can smell the apple-blueberry-cherry crisp baking in the oven. I wanted to use up the last of our fresh fruits before I get more this week.

I am enjoying the stitching. I did X's over that bird I did not care for.- That area didn't turn out super even after two do overs. I will try to do a better job on the next panel before I start stitching those.

I had originally thought of changing to earthy colors under the trees and wolf, but I can see this being a night sky should be the blue instead. The area below the X's  I will decide on dark greens or greys I still need to decide after this part is finished, what stitch to use around the stars, moon wolf and trees. I will search out filler stitches too for the wolf etc. not sure if I can make that look nice. Any suggestions??

Happy Midweek!

A Look at my Stitches

A few of you asked for photos. The photo showed all one color-red-ugh haha  I decided to use blues for the sky, and then I will decide on greens and browns for the landscape-perhaps try to stitch a mountain with the X's not sure yet.

I did add a lighter blue within the main blue

I am not real crazy about the bird on the left but not sure I can match in the X's Any suggestions on what stitch to use for the outlines of the stars, wolf etc?

The photos will enlarge for better viewing-just click on them.

Hello July

Wow I still can not wrap my head around how very fast Summer is flying by.

The lake was crazy busy all weekend with fireworks around us too. I  think many came out this weekend as so far the 4th looks like more rain storms. We did however, have another severe storm come through again this weekend as well. Our neighbor made it back from boating with about 5 minutes to spare. The skies got black and the lake looked like an ocean with the high waves.

We are enjoying lots of fresh fruits since my last grocery store visit-melons, cherries, berries, yellow kiwis.

Scanning through Facebook I found another Snoopy to share. Snoopy has me smiling

I am still enjoying watching pro baseball - the KC Royals continue to improve their game and are so fun to watch play.  I grab my embroidery piece while watching the games. This wolf block is mostly those X's, have found a better way to stitch those too. I was stitching each X seperately  as per instructions I found online-but found they come out nicer if I stitch one side of several in a row and then go back to stitch the second line of the X. Stitches up faster too.

If you celebrate the 4th-any plans??   I will be making us baby back barbecue ribs in the oven, probably make us potato salad along with assorted fruits and hope to have refrigerator space for the lemon meringue pie  Happy July
