I am sharing this from Facebook, I have been following the "slaughter" of the Yellowstone wolves this "hunting" season. In Montana especially they are baiting the wolves just barely outside of the park so they can lure them out of the park to kill them I will be calling the governor starting next Monday
Last week they wiped out the entire Phantom Lake pack There are only 94 wolves left in Yellowstone-which took the last 25 years of work to bring back-to benefit the ecosystem there. I have been reading about the Yellowstone wolves and had no idea of the total hatred of wolves by the ranchers there.
I believe in hunting for food-this is Not hunting.
CALL TO ACTION FOR WOLVES
The Superintendent of Yellowstone, Cam Sholly, has asked Montana Gov Gianforte to call off and shut down all shooting and all trapping in the entire area surrounding YNP in the wake of 20 dead Yellowstone wolves and counting! The entire Phantom Lake Pack is now considered “eliminated”. Only approximately 94 wolves remain in Yellowstone.
We must back up the superintendent and hammer Gianforte’s office with calls !!! Wolves that roam over YNP border (or wolves that are lured out) are being shot dead! 406-444-3111 ( Toll Free 855-318-1330)
Call everyday 8 AM to 5 PM, Mon-Fri MST (Mountain Standard Time). As difficult as it is, be polite but firm and tell his office that you are aware of the request the Yellowstone Superintendent has made of the governor to cease and desist all shooting and trapping surrounding the entire area of YNP, and how dare the hunters target Yellowstone wolves who are habituated to the presence of humans and we ARE AWARE of Yellowstone wolves even being lured out of the park, while shooters wait. We are aware that you’re using baited traps too.
We are appalled that a complete pack — The Phantom Lake Pack has been completely wiped out. Yellowstone wolves are the animals tourists from around the world come to see yearly and lay down approximately 1/2 a billion a year to view these familiar and loved wolf packs. Your administration is hurting the surrounding businesses financially to say the least!
( Really say whatever you want to say — these are just a few talking points )
Montana’s plan is to kill wolves, by any means, until the end of summer ridding the state of 90% of their wolves. —- Yellowstone wolves are falling victim to their hatred and are easy targets once they wander out of the park, even a short distance. And trapping has just begun so we have to come down hard and heavy or there will be a real threat of depleting the wolves of Yellowstone and 25 years of progress.
I've read these and it so so sad that it is happening. The work it took to bring wolves back is way more than the effort it take people to wipe them out. Sadly there are people who feel that 94 wolves is 94 too many. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI know this is all so very sad.
DeleteSo heart breaking, I am very sad I can't read the next wolf book just yet
ReplyDeleteI am thinking the same thing. I just can’t start another right now. I still think about the tragic loss of 0-Six.
ReplyDeleteMe too that is exactly what is happening right now too, I am going to get back to Donati's Into the Wilderness series that is a really good one. She is a good author I am going to call the Governor's office Monday-
ReplyDeleteSomething NEEDS to be DONE immediately! This is just too sad.
ReplyDeleteIt is makes me sick, the President is the only one that can stop this-putting the wolves back on the endangered list
DeleteSomething in me despises hunting of all kinds, even for food. To kill defenseless animals for any reason isn’t necessary. We live in a country where food is aplenty. Deer are baited, then killed for their antlers by sportsmen. Often the dead body is left to the vultures. The argument is there are too many deer if sport hunting isn’t permitted. But who is responsible for that? Man encroached on deer territory many decades ago, so now their numbers must be decreased. There has to be a better solution for all the animals God created, including wolves.
