It's time for T Stands for Tuesday-find link in my sidebar, anyone is welcome just share a drink related photo in your post.
Since early Saturday evening it has been non stop strong winds here-my guess is over 25 miles an hour, and up to at least 50. I am typing this post up around 4:30 pm Sunday and the wind has not stopped. Driving me crazy and on edge for sure-I do not like wind like this.
Not much happening here, except I am still spinning most every day-getting a more even yarn each time I spin now . I am still spinning the Nash Island Maine rare wool that I shared last time. These sheep live on an island mostly to themselves-until they need sheered and taken care of. I am up to 4 niddy noddy's full now.
I love the feel and texture of this wool.
We still have had no rain now for several weeks-I will need to get the garden hoses up out of the basement and hooked up so I can water the perennials and bulbs this week. I did get one side weeded on Saturday, and I planted my German Chamomile and red yarrow that I grew from seed in the bottles.
This is the first blooming Iris
Larry has been making us more bird feeder poles along with the one I just purchased.
I am finding more items available at Wal Mart online-with free delivery as well-right to my door. It is where I found this stand, and on sale I also found a better quality bird seed at their online store too-and they carry it down the hill and steps for me-smile 😀
This was a nice tall stand and has these four decorative hangers. It also came with a little basket for seed or fruits-thinking oranges for the orioles, a bird bath plastic dish, a suet holder, and a small tube seed feeder. Some of these other parts Larry is making us new feeder poles along with some vintage parts. This is one of them-looking through our wall of windows that faces the lake-these windows go all the way to the sides of the this wall both left and right. So of course I fell in love with this view. We do get hammered with boat traffic in the summer though-but I tell myself its only 4 months out of the year We need to replace this deck-as it is in bad shape.
I am still adjusting my new camera for zooming in, but we saw a sailboat over the weekend
Sunday was a nice day for us. Our friend called to say he wanted to bring us lunch and for us to meet his new fiance. His wife passed a couple years ago from an operation on her lungs. She was my friend that drove me to Yellowstone Park back in 2017 because I wanted to see the park so badly. I have always been so grateful for that trip. His fiance was not at all what we were expecting, but we liked her allot and they seem very happy together. The lunch they brought was from a bbq smokehouse near us that was really really good-totally forgot to take photos. I made brownies in the morning to serve
After they left I poured myself a small glass of this wine. I really like this brand and it is not very expensive and good tasting. I have open now the Pinoit Grigio-my go to wine is usually a white that is a little sweet to dry.
It has been so cloudy here this past week that I have no new sunrise photos to share. One evening though the sky just before dark was pretty amazing.
Lovely iris.
ReplyDeletethanks-first on so far
DeleteThat squirrel is so adorable and the sky shot are really beautiful.
ReplyDeletethey are cute but they eat all the food if you allowed them to
DeleteIt has been really windy and cold here tonight where my wife and live. It was a good day to stay indoors.
ReplyDeleteI like your bird feeding pole, that is really nice.
My wife used to have a garden where we used to live, but it kept getting destroyed by squirrels, which is one of the reasons I do not like them much!
Just decided to stop by, to say hi, and to say, it is nice to meet you.
God's Grace, to you and yours!
So glad you dropped by. when we moved here to the lake I had to give up trying to raising food-the chipmunks and squirrels are out of control here so they eat all of it-never had that problem before. I have always had a veggie garden before
DeleteThanks I am happy with this feeding pole too-there is another one where the squirrel is with a screened dish for food, and I hang a small seed feeder there too. we have to run the squirrels off constantly too sigh
have a good week
Now that sound very windy! You don´t have that here in the city "sadly" - as long as no dangerous I love that weather.
ReplyDeleteWill youu share what you do with that wonderful and happy wool?
They said one of the coldest months of April again. Hm. Let´s hope for May...
Replacing a deck is a lot of work. Ingo just" has to clean ours from moss...
Peanut woukd not be happy reading this, so I won´t tell (but yours look so darn cute, too!).
Very sad about your friend. But nice there is no loneliness and you like "the new one", too.
I sure have these thoughts often as Ingo is sick. All the "what if"s...
Not a wine-lover, but I once bought this one, too, cause I thought the label is too funny! I think it was the Merlot.
Lake-pic tomorrow... hugs
Hello Iris, the wind finally stopped today-wednesday-so we could enjoy working outdoors. we will need to hire someone to build us the deck, Larry is not well enough to do that anymore. we have to get the woods house sold soon to have the money for it-will be expensive for sure.
DeleteI am happy our friend found a new love I buy wines because of the labels too-smile. you might like a dry wine.
Hello my friend! I don't like high wind either, and we get a lot of it here. We are getting too much rain now-I'd like to send you some. I hope we aren't dry the rest of the growing season-we were last year. Your iris is gorgeous! And the yarn you are spinning looks so even and pretty. I love that plaid fabric in the photo too. Happy gardening and bird watching. (BTW- we have a squirrel proof feeder and it really works. I think it's called The Eliminator-sold at Birds Unlimited. It's pricey but it saves a ton of seed.)
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, the winds finally stopped today-wednesday-and we got a lovely day to work outdoors. we were gifted the bird feeder with the cage around it-and surprising the squirrels have not messed it with it so far. My Mom years ago had spend allot of money to for a squirrel proof feeder but hers didn't work-I think squirrels enjoy the challenge
DeleteHappy new week
Hi Kathy - I am like you the wind certainly bothers me. We have been wet today and cold...looks like we will be the same for the next three days. May certainly has turned the weather around. Your wool looks wonderful. So glad to read about your friends visiting. Love your Iris too. Hope you have a great week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie thanks so much-today was a good day (wednesday) the winds finally moved on and had low 70's f and full sun was able to an area planted too.
DeleteMy other Iris's are beginning to open now too so pretty
Happy new week hugs
You've had wind and we have rain. There was quite a bit of wash out on my road and other places I have heard, including some flooding up north. Boy you have such a lovely view of the lake from your living room. We have tourists here and lots of boat traffic on our lakes too, (plus traffic). It's a short season for us, so it is what it is. It's great you had that yummy BBQ and friends visiting. Happy May to you Kathy, and have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHi Erika today (wednesday) the wind has finally moved on-so glad that was a long stretch of strong winds. I am thinking when ever the rain comes in it will probably stay awhile-we need a really soaking for sure.
Deletewe have tons of boat traffic here too starting Memorial weekend ends just before Labor Day
Happy May to you as well hugs
We have had the winds but the rains too. There is flooding everywhere here. We had a few hour reprieve but we are back to the rain until the weekend. It will be nice to have a weekend with the sun. You have been busy that's for sure. We use shelled sunflower seed we do not want the mess of the shells to clean up.
ReplyDeleteCathy
The winds have finally left us we really need rain I see some coming in soon if the weather man is correct lol
Deletethat would save a mess for sure-here it is an easy fix I just blow them off the deck. we get allot of flooding here too in the rivers and low areas when we get allot of rain I am thinking that may happen next week
Your lake views are so pretty! I would sit on that porch all the time! Wow. Glad you are spinning, getting in the garden and feeding the birds, Kathy. All lovely things. I like that wine as well. Wish we could have a glass together on your lovely porch. Happy t-day. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI would love to share a glass of wine with you-hugs.
Deletewe do really enjoy the views-very peaceful until Memorial Day-then its very crazy all summer long. Happy T
Nice you are getting a handle on your spinning. As they say, practice makes perfect.
ReplyDeleteLoved the iris. None of mine have bloomed since the neighbor to the north put up the fence that really changed the light and wind patterns.
That's a lovely bird feeder. Sally bought one at Sutherland's when we went there after my birthday lunch. Sounds like you got a better deal than she got.
Beautiful lake shots and nicely done on the zoom.
I'm not a wine drinker unless it's a sweet dessert wine. I especially didn't care for Merlot the time I tasted it. It tasted like vinegar to me. I am so glad you enjoy these wines, especially that white wine. thanks for sharing your photos of the lake, squirrel, new bird feeder, your deck view, and your wine with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kathy. Yes, I'm running late!
I am really happy with this feeder, it was on sale and free delivery from walmart.com Larry found poles the right size in his stash of things so made two more pole feeders with the other parts. Merlot is a little dry I think I don't like real sweet wines especially reds but I like a little sweet in the whites.
DeleteThis morning I watched a video that showed me what I was doing wrong so I can improve my yarn-very excited
Happy T
That view of the lake is just heavenly! And YOU are a spinning machine! Wow. It looks like things are good -- lake, friend time, wool... what's not to love?
ReplyDeletethanks Jeanie yes life is good-beautiful views, we don't often see friends any more so that was really nice, and my spinning is getting better and I love wool hugs
DeleteThis wind has really been something, hasn't it! The iris is our state flower, though I've never grown them. They're blooming now, and I'm planning an outing to a local botanic garden to see theirs. That's a great bird feeder pole! I'd love one that would hold 4 feeders. Nice! Your view is lovely, and I'll bet the boats are interesting to watch -though probably loud... We've managed to fix the feeders so squirrels and chipmunks don't get to them, but it took _years_ to come up with something that works. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOh I hope your take photos of the botanic gardens when I was kid growing up the city and beautiful vintage garden in an indoor building-we would go there during the different seasons. nothing like that close by here.
DeleteI love this new pole I found it on sale at walmart.com very happy with it.
we were gifted the bird feeder with the cage around it-so far the squirrels have not investigated it at all.
Happy T
I have chamomile and I love collecting the flowers to dry every year.
ReplyDeleteYour views of the lake are beautiful, especially from that window. Decks are expensive to replace. We did our wrap around deck over the course of 3 years because it was so expensive. Now everything is going up in price, including wood. It can be frustrating as a homeowner.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I love chamomile too at the woods house we had allot of wild chamomile that collected and dried but haven't seen that here so I wanted to plant some this should be the perennial I planted.
Deletedecks are expensive once we can sell the woods house we will have the money to replace this one--this one is really bad shape and gets worse every year.
yes the prices to do anything is difficult for homeowners for sure.
Happy T
Hi Kathy, I don't like windy weather either, it causes so much damage. Hope you get better weather soon, and some rain! We have no shortage of rain here lol. What will you make with this lovely yarn? Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeletewe really need rain-I am thinking when it finally comes it will last a few days but we need a really good soak again.
DeleteI want to make a rauna for sure and then haven't decided what else. I had a break through today after watching a spinning video learned some things I was doing wrong. Happy T
Hi Kathy, you are keeping busy! Glad you can get things delivered to your door, that's a big bonus! Love all the pics of the sky and lake etc. It's been windy here, too, but not as bad as at your place. happy T Day, Kathy, enjoy your wine, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteMost of the fedex people bring the package down to our door-ups though leaves it on top of the stairs I am grateful either way though.
Deletethe wind finally stopped toda-(wednesday) and we full sunshine and a warmer day-really nice to work outdoors today
The iris against the stone wall is such a pretty picture. Nice bird pole. The 4 arms will certainly come in handy. As always such pretty views of the lake. Happy T Day
ReplyDeletethank you CJ I love that view too the flowers against the stone we do love the view very much-but the house was in worse shape then we realized when we bought it-
DeleteStrong and long winds are insettling. I love wind, but the type you describe are scary.
ReplyDeleteYour views are beautiful. Nice pole, the multiple hooks are nice. Thank you for the wine recommend.
I hope your week goes well
they are for me for sure. today-finally the winds have passed-full sun and around 70 degrees F today got allot of work done in one garden area
DeleteI am really happy with this pole too. I really like this wine and it is my kind of price too around $5 or $6 dollars
you have a good week too
Thanks for cluing me into Jan's blog link going to our dashboards. I left her a comment, then linked her blog, although I was in a hurry and I got the name wrong because I have a misbehaving keyboard.
ReplyDeleteyou are welcome I couldn't figure out how that was happening
DeleteKathy the views of the lake from your house are so beautiful, I wouldn’t get anything done , I must admit we don’t encourage the birds as they make such a mess on the tiles around the pool and on the side of the pool although we do have pied wagtails come to drink from the pool, they balance on the chlorine floats.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day. Jan S
Hi Jan, I agree the bird seed and birds would be too messy around a pool for sure. this deck needs replaced and soon so right now I don't care too much-smiles but we do enjoy the birds very much each day and they are so close to view too
DeleteHappy T
Happy T. day dear Kathy! How beautiful are your views of the lake from your house. I really like the bird feeder that they have brought you, it is very complete. And that wool has to be very soft, as you say, I admire your patience to spin it.
ReplyDeleteI also like sweet wine, not normal wine :) smile. how beautiful your first iris, you are going to have a beautiful garden.
Hope you have a nice Thursday, and send big hugs
Caty
Hi Caty, Happy T we do enjoy the lake views especially before the summer crowds appear-then it is a bit too crazy and loud out there
DeleteI enjoy the spinning but frustrated I am not getting nicer yarn but today I found a video that helped me allot so I know some things I wasn't doing right.
I don't like really sweet wines-but I like a little sweet in the whites.
thank you the Iris and glads are really looking good this year-they are happy now in their new home.
hugs back

I too hate the wind! Especially when it whistles through the house and howls outside. I get so agitated.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really great now that you have your new camera. (and oh the view!)
Belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
Hi Lisca the strong winds usually have me out of sorts-I get up read a book usually haha. we do love the view hugs
DeleteI love the new bird feeding station and hope you manage to take lots of photos. I really miss seeing birds close to since we sold our caravan. I wish I could send you some of our rain, although it was a lovely warm and mainly sunny day today so we dropped everything and went for a walk at Fletcher Moss! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI think it is so wonderful you and your husband get out and do allot of walking, Larry has severe arthritis among other health issues and now he really can not do much walking any more. we really do need rain here- I have a large area to clear of weeds and get organized but it all needs a good soaking first-I may need to wet it all down with the hose soon.
DeleteSounds like heavy winds, but again it seems like you had great time with friends and beautiful views. The bird feeder and the stand is great. I like when there are birds around. Beautiful Iris flower. And I am happy to read about the progress of spinning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all these. Have a great weekend ahead and a Happy Belated T-day!
Hi Amila, sadly the strong winds have returned this afternoon and still no rain sigh. we are really enjoying the birds on the new hangers. thank you so much Happy T wishes
DeleteA very nice post. Ahhh the wind, 25mph is a breeze here where I live. LOL It does drive one crazy though. Lovely photos and nice hangers for the feeders. The wine bottles look amazing. Love the logo. Have a very nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteNicole, thanks for visiting. we are back to high winds again today-sigh and the rain skipped over us-again.
DeleteI am loving the new hangers for the birds too-the baltimore orioles have arrived. this is pretty good wine and not expensive.
Happy weekend
Nice job with the spinning. Will you dye the yarn? I love irises and that photo you took is lovely. I hope more are blooming in your garden by now.
ReplyDelete-Soma
thank you-yes I will be doing allot of dying soon-thinking early fall would be a nice time I should still have some dried black walnuts on had from my ink project a couple years ago. Haven't decided which acid dyes to use for my yarns. I didn't want to use natural dyes for most of these but perhaps I will haha I have of those still.
DeleteThe iris's or so lovely this year-yes more in bloom-since dividing them up and getting them in nicer soil and fertilizer they are just so beautiful this year.
oops sorry about the typos I didn't proof read it before posting
DeleteYou've certainly shared some wonderful views of the lake and I enjoyed seeing the squirrel too.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
https://thelowcarbdiabetic.blogspot.com/
thank you Jan Happy weekend
DeleteBonjour Kathy great photos ! The view on the lake is gorgeous. I know squirrels are a pest but I can't help thinking they're cute. I like them better than the pigeons, crows or magpies we have here in the Paris area.
ReplyDeleteHi Angie, thanks so much-we do have a fabulous view. they are cute as are the little chipmunks-there are soooo many here that I can not grow any veggies cause they eat them all have never run into that problem before. those birds can noisy too
Deletehappy weekend
