I am working on doing something creative every day. Usually early mornings are perfect after we enjoy the sunrise and bird watching with breakfast.
At the moment I am back to working with the Chinese Brush Painting book, it's a good inspiration learning book for me.
My first attempt was really bad-so I painted on the back of the same page in my watercolor notebook.
I worked with the bird first and then decided to add iris's from the same book-it's so so. The biggest thing I need to learn with watercolors-Must wait til dries before going back in next to a wet area. That messes up more of work-not waiting, which shows up in that orange area of the flowers. That was suppose to be mostly yellow with orange highlights-will keep practicing.
I am hoping to finish reading the book My Dear Hamilton today. An excellent read if you enjoy historical fiction-so well researched, I have learned so much more about that time period that I didn't know.

DeleteI think you are doing really well with the watercolors. I also like the inks. My husband got me a different brand for Christmas-haven't played with them too much.

DeleteI agree that the best time for art is early morning, however that interfers with early morning chores here on the farm. I love your idea of daily art practice. And, I love Bird and Irises. Good job, Kathy!

DeleteYOu know i like happy accidents too with water color. I think your flowers are lovely even if they are not what you intended. The colors work! And the bird is cute and well done too! I have Windsor Newton water colors not inks. And i really haven't sat down to play with them.. too many pans in the fire.. Making something for grandlittles for Valentines day and finishing up various things.. I will have a T day post up soon but i probably won't link up until late as hubs doc appt for his knee is not until 3pm and it is out of town.. sigh.. Take care Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI have Winsor Newton watercolor paints too I really like their brand of products. I signed up for their newsletters which are always interesting for learning new things. Yes I do like how watercolors can blend with each other-when you want them to-smiles-sounds fun to make Valentine's gifts for grandchildren.

I had a hard time getting into the book at first-it seemed to move slow unless it was because I was busy with other things. When I got about 1/3 into it-I couldn't put the book down. These two authors do allot of research-and at the end of the book they discuss about the information they used, and how they filled in with unknowns. Their first book was excellent too wondering what their next book will be

ReplyDeleteAnnie Sloan Chalk Paint is the same. To wait is the best.
Otherwise, paint just gets wasted and so does time.
So I like to wait a nice bit of time before the second coat.

Sorry you didn't win one of the prizes, but it wasn't a competition for what was BEST, but what number you were in the random.org. AND you showed up every day, which is more than I can say for myself.
